In the article, the most important communicative contexts of the vocative case usage in a contemporary Polish language are displayed. The article is an attempt of polemics with a popular thesis that knowledge of seventh case is not necessary to communicate in Polish. On the other hand, the author raises awareness of a progressive phenomenon of supplanting the vocative case by the nominative case.
