In this study, I show how Plato in the Parmenides reprises the encounter with the Phaedo’s Antisthenes, whom I elsewhere assumed to be one of the various tis that get examined in the dialogue. Now, with the Parmenides’ tis, a similar situation arises: this Antisthenes embodies such characteristics as being “an expert in many areas”, “not without natural gifts” and “capable of following with critical intelligence” the logoi taken from “distant premises.” In the four logoi of the gumnasia, I highlight how Plato, in developing his exercise, proceeds on his own way without openly arguing with any tis and how, despite his detached attitude, his hodos, while interweaving with that of his colleague Antisthenes, enters into a conflict. I then demonstrate how the two paths, despite having a common aporetic beginning (the objections of Gorgias to Parmenides and the testimony of Proclus against Antisthenes), at times overlap and at times are mutually exclusive. From this, I also argue that whoever wrote the dialogue must have been aware that the path, although apparently linear and rectilinear, was in fact bumpy and tortuous.

The ana-cataphora is the “youngest” among diaphoric relations, after anaphora and cataphora, and combines characteristics of its “older” endophoric relatives. The present paper identifies and describes this diaphoric relation by using various taxonomic parameters (vector, diaphoric expression, cotext or field, scope, referent identification manner, coreferentiality) in order to measure the potential of the demonstratives in question and to determine the most productive demonstrative form as an ana-cataphoric catalyst. Observations, remarks and conclusions are based on the analysis of research data extracted from the subcorpus Generale 1 of NUNC corpora, reflecting evolutionary tendencies observable in spoken/written Italian, used in discussion groups of the global network.

The article is an attempt of verification of the possibility and of its degree of the analysis of the linguistic tools that determine the text cohesion in political works of a medieval French writer Christine de Pizan (XV c). The cohesion relations depend on various linguistic as well as extralinguistic factors and diaphoric metaphors are one of ways to provide the textual cohesion in an economical manner. The concept of the textual economy is the outcome of linguistic and extralinguistic rules. In the world of the text based on a subjective perception, thematic progression is not always logical from the point of view of information orientation even more so because the compilation structure of the political work of Christine de Pizan opens the opportunities for emergence of unexpected cohesion relations.
