Teaching of the moral theology at the seminary in Diocese of Siedlce 1818-2018 Tis article concerns the teaching of the moral theology at the seminary in Diocese of Siedlce over the last 200 years and consists of three parts. Te frst part shows the histo-rical context of the moral theology in the 18th and 19th century. Te second one discusses the ways of teaching moral theology in the seminary of Janów Podlaski – frst capitol of Diocese – from the beginning to the liquidation of Diocese in 1867. Te last part presents the ways of teaching moral theology afer second establishment, which took place in 1918, up to now. Te presented overview of the moral education issues at the seminary in Sie¬dlce during the 19th century shows that essentially it is the legalistic theology. However, it is already situated in the perspective of the emerging renovation that has become frmly established at the Church afer Vatican Council II, which took place in the frst half of the 20th century.

Fr. Stanisław Płodzień was the priest of the Podlasie diocese, now of Siedlce. He was an outstanding expert in ancient and Roman law. Until today, his doctoral thesis entitled: „Lex Rhodia de iactu. Study in the field of commercial and maritime law” is valued and known among researchers. From August 1, 1953 to October 9, 1954 he was the Vice-Rector of the Catholic University of Lublin for administrative matters. In the years 1954-1956 he was the vice-rector of the Catholic University of Lublin. He died at the age of 49. His memory is still alive at the Catholic University of Lublin and in his native parish Jeziorzany (formerly Łysobyki).

Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu jest wydarzenie II Synodu Diecezji Siedleckiej. Artykuł podzielono na sześć podrozdziałów. We wprowadzeniu przypomniano dwie nieudane próby (1972 i 1989) przeprowadzenia synodu diecezjalnego przez biskupa Jana Mazura. W dalszej części pojawiły się rozważania ogólnie dotyczące synodów, definicja kodeksowa tego pojęcia oraz krótkie tło historyczne instytucji synodów (przed Soborem Trydenckim, według KPK/1917, postanowienia Vaticanum Secundum i KPK/1983). W trzeciej części autor zanalizował organizację i statuty I synodu podlaskiego (siedleckiego) przeprowadzonego w 1923 roku przez biskupa Henryka Przeździeckiego. Czwartą część artykułu poświęcono przygotowaniom do II synodu w okresie od roku 2002 (objęcie diecezji przez biskupa Zbigniewa Kiernikowskiego) do 2010. Zasadnicze uwagi znalazły się w piątej części artykułu: regulamin, założenia, cele i struktura (komisje i podkomisje synodalne) oraz sposób pracy synodu.

The present article tackles the event of the second Synod of the Siedlce Diocese. This article is divided into six sections. The introduction reminds of two failed attempts (1972 and 1989) to carry out a diocesan synod by Bishop John Mazur. In the following part, there emerged general considerations concerning synods, the Codex definition of the concept as well as a brief historical background of the institution of synods (before the Council of Trent, by Code of Canon Law/1917, the provisions of Vatican II and Code of Canon Law/1983). In the third part, the author analysed the organization and the statutes of the first Synod of Podlasie (Siedlce), conducted in 1923 by Bishop Henryk Przeździecki. The fourth part of the article was devoted to preparations for the Second Synod of the period from 2002 (the Diocese was assumed by Bishop Zbigniew Kiernikowski) till 2010. The most vital remarks are included in the fifth part of the article: the rules, goals, objectives and structure (the Synod’s committees and subcommittees) and also the work method during the Synod.

This study presents the development of the cult of the Blessed Martyrs of Pratulin. The first part of the article presents a short history of the process of beatification. Then the author discussed the pastoral initiatives related to the cult of the Blesseds, e.g. founding of the Memory Association of Pratulin Martyrs "Martyrium" and the "Arka" Foundation, the Diocesan Family of Schools identified with Martyrs of Podlasie and the Brotherhood "Guardians of the Church". In the further part of the article, attention is paid to the development of the Sanctuary of Pratulin, numerous publications, exhibitions, film projects dedicated to the Blessed Units of Podlasie, as well as the solemn celebration of beatification anniversaries. The indicated initiatives and projects confirm that the diocese of Siedlce preserves the memory and develops the spiritual heritage of the Blessed Martyrs of Podlasie.

Niniejsze opracowanie przedstawia rozwój kultu Błogosławionych Męczenników z Pratulina. W pierwszej części artykułu zaprezentowano krótką historię procesu beatyfikacyjnego. Następnie autor omówił powstałe inicjatywy duszpasterskie związane z kultem Błogosławionych, m.in. powstanie Stowarzyszenia Pamięci Unitów Podlaskich „Martyrium” i Fundacji „Arka”, Diecezjalnej Rodziny Szkół im. Unitów Podlaskich oraz Bractwa „Strażnicy Kościoła”. W dalszej części artykułu zwrócono uwagę na rozwój sanktuarium pratulińskiego, liczne publikacje, wystawy, projekty filmowe poświęcone Unitom z Pratulina, a także uroczyste świętowanie kolejnych rocznic beatyfikacji. Wskazane inicjatywy i projekty są potwierdzeniem, że diecezja siedlecka zachowuje pamięć i rozwija duchowe dziedzictwo Unitów Podlaskich.
