In the article, the issue of the Biblical bases of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was concerned. The text was based on Polish theological literature published until 1965. When analysing the Bible one can notice that it does not mention directly the fact of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Neverthe-less, the discussed theologians deal with this matter by referring to Tradition.
When confronting theology with other disciplines we are urged to specify its status as a field of knowledge which derives from its subject, i.e. the faith of the Church. Formerly, under the heavy influence of then unquestionable Aristotelian understanding of science and its division, it used to be very straightforward to find the right place for theology among other disciples. Nowadays, on the other hand, it is a much more demanding task for a theologian who has to confront other academicians. Therefore, more than ever, one need to reflect on the subject of theology, i.e. the faith, which determines its scientific status. The paper comprises of three parts: i) The Notion of Faith; ii) Communicating the Faith; iii) Theology as a Way to Communicate the Faith. The research is based on an analysis of the doctrinal declarations of the Church concerning the faith. The gift of the faith which comes from the Christianity gives courage when facing the secular world and does not allow to fall into despair when coping with its crises and the paths closed for the Gospel. Contrary to that, the faith enables us to confront the world and to communicate the most precious things we have.
Any attempt to reduce or disintegrate the Christological dogma is not without an impact on the basic message of the good news, the Kerygma, as well as on its soteriological implications. The theological challenge is to make every effort to proclaim the first message as the announcement of the fullness of the revealed truth, but also to indicate the dangers arising from incomplete or unorthodox proclamation. The article presents negative consequences of heterodox Christological tendencies for the reality of the Kerygma in theology of Father Raniero Cantalamessa. These dogmatic threats and their consequences focus on the person of Jesus Christ and the mysteries of His death and resurrection.
The article describes how Christian art depicted in the Third Person of the Trinity. It was quide difficult, because the Holy Spirit could not appear as a man. Nevertheless, it can be concluded that the hidden remains an icon of the Holy Spirit, Mary, as a person completely penetrated him. On the third hypostasis of Marian icons also appeared as a dove further (the icon Annunciation), or as a light-gold.Christ’s presence on the perceptions of the Holy Spirit has been emphasized by showing the radius, or a small circle (the icon of Christ’s birth). He revealed himself as a dove hovering (the icon of the Baptism of Christ), or as light (the icon of the Transfiguration). However the icon showing a scene “Pentecost”, he reveals himself tongues of fire descending figure, which rest upon the Apostles.
This article presents theology in three aspects: definitions, methods and places in the modern world. The definition is derived using the statements of the ecclesiastical Magisterium. A reflection on the method is based on some selected academic publications and the ecclesiastical Magisterium statements, too. The basis for a brief reflection on the place of theology is J. Ritter’s thought and the statement of the ecclesiastical Magisterium (“Gaudium et Spes”). The article is addressed to both theologians and the representatives of other sciences.
The article is based on an assumption that constitutionalism has a Janus face. A constitution is both a legal and a political act. So far, the public domain has been dominated by legal constitutionalism (constitutional dogmatics), which excludes the constitution from the public sphere, subjecting it to the authority of lawyers- -experts. The contemporary political phenomena such as: new populism, illiberal democracy or new constitutionalism should shift the interest of researchers to the political aspect of constitutionalism. Constitutionalism is, therefore, a multidimensional social practice. A political game featuring many actors. And the constitutionalism of lawyers is only one of its possible interpretations. Citizens also have their own constitutionalisms, and different perspectives on constitutionalism, reflecting opposing interests, may lead to conflicts. The constitutional law dogmatics applied to resolve such conflicts would argue for the existence of a transcendental framework for their resolution. A more political approach denies the existence of such a framework. In other words, the dogmatics in question requires democracy to adapt to constitutionalism, while the political approach requires constitutionalism to adapt to democracy. The text is an introduction to a part of a volume featuring articles by authors affiliated with the Centre for Legal Education and Social Theory of the University of Wrocław.

Bardziej polityczne ujęcie przeczy istnieniu takich ram. Innymi słowy, dogmatyka nakazuje demokracji dostosować się do konstytucjonalizmu, podczas gdy ujęcie polityczne nakazuje konstytucjonalizmowi dostosować się do demokracji. The article discusses the relevance of the Chalcedonian dogma of Christian anthropology. The context of the discussion is the Western theologians’ pursuit of new forms of expression of the faith. However, the Chalcedonian Christological doctrine is not outdated. The truth of faith that Jesus Christ is True God and True Man has its important anthropological implications. This dogma constitutes the foundation of the Christian teaching on the human dignity.
Expression of faith through art (painting, sculpture and others) for Christians is not an optional but obligatory thing, because it expresses their faith in the incarnation of God in Jesus Christ. For such a statement, the Church came through several centuries. In the end, he formulated his position at the Councils, in the teaching of popes and theologians, also under the influence of political disputes. However, the teaching of the Church about the importance and the function of sacred liturgical art has not received its reception until today. For this to happen, artists must explore the faith of the Church, and the faithful must learn the “language” of art with which they profess their faith, learn about it, remember the presence of saints in their lives, move their feelings towards faith and decorate sacred space.

Satire on dogma? The strategy of subversion in Kevin Smith’s Dogma Religious themes which appear in the cinema in a fashion that differs from the classical view of Bible stories often become problematic for the audience, especially its more religious members, who find such movies blasphemous and sacrilegious. At the same time, it seems that the aim of many such works is not to act against religion, but rather to show the truths of faith in a new perspective. This kind of approach, described as a “strategy of subversion“ based on the affirmation by illusory negation, can be found in the way Kevin Smith created his Dogma (1999). The aim of this article is to examine those aspects of Dogma, which on the one hand undermine the dogmatic character of religion and the commercialization of the Catholic Church, and on the other, expose and emphasize the senses of faith and cultivating religion lying underneath the pop culture in a ostensibly profane form.
Around 1820–1821, a young and not quite experienced Balzac writes a short story in prose, a draft which will remain unfinished and which we know as Corsino. It is one of Balzac’s experimental texts in prose (Sténie ou les Erreurs philosophiques; Une heure de ma vie; Agathise; Falthurne) revealing his artistic quest and announcing some important traits to be found in his later official works. Corsino is influenced by Balzac’s philosophical lectures and reflections present in his notes known as Discours sur l’immortalité de l’âme from 1818, where the topics such as religion, God, morality, science, epistemology, materialism, or scepticism are discussed.
The aim of this paper is to discuss some features of the doctrines of the agrapha dogmata in Neoplatonism, starting from the reading of an anecdote, presented in the Anonymous Prolegomena to Platonic Philosophy, in which Plato dreams that close to death he becomes a swan which hunters are unable to catch. In fact, the dream is an explanation of the development of the Platonic tradition, and, more precisely, it presents a story of several exegetical disagreements that have survived till the present day. Compared to modern interpretation of the Aristotelic testimony on the “so-called unwritten doctrines”, we can state that the late antique interpretations of them focus and depend on what Plato has left us in his written dialogues, which are the best living images of his oral dialogues. This conclusion is, then, a consequence of a study carried out on Ancient and Neoplatonic texts that leads to the acknowledgement of a Platonic philosophical system as well as to an overview of modern secondary bibliography produced by the esoteric interpretation of Plato and various views of scholars who are against this account.
Problem zdefiniowania pojęcia prawdy trapił w starożytności przede wszystkim filozofów a w starożytnej greckiej metafizyce można znaleźć kilka sformułowań określających to pojęcie.

Since the beginning of time, man has searched for answers to the questions that tormented him concerning how he came into being, how the world came into existence and if objective truth exists. The problem of defining the idea of truth caused unrest first of all for ancient philosophers and one can find a few formulations defining this concept in ancient Greek metaphysics. The first to define the concept of truth was Aristotle. The Old Testament had its own truth. We do not speak of a dogma of the Old or New Testament, but we speak of the truth or truths of the Old or New Testament or generally of truths contained in the Holy Scripture. On the other hand, the New Testament proclaimed that Truth had become man. When interpreting the idea of the truth in the New Testament, St. Clemens of Rome stated, that not only Christ Himself is the very Truth but all he proclaims is the very truth. The history of the Church witnesses to the fact of how truth, that was attacked by heretics, transformed itself into dogma. For two thousand years, the Church has preserved the dogmatic definitions of the Holy Ecumenical Councils, which are the foundation of our faith and the very guarantee of our proper growth in Christ and finally, of our salvation.

Muhammad objected to the two central tenets of Christianity: belief in the Holy Trinity and in Jesus as the Son of God. He could not accept the idea of God having an associate, referring to himself as His son. He regarded it as a blasphemy that could not be made compatible with monotheism. The objectives of the Quran was to prove that the Christian faith was based on no good reasons, emphasise monotheism and cleanse it of foreign theological surplus. In this way Muhammad wanted to defend Jesus from the charge of blasphemy. In his polemics with Christians he was concerned with the qualitative aspect of their monotheism, and focused on the ‘theism’ in their monotheism. Quran presumes three gods [in Christianity]: Allah (God), Mary (goddess) and Jesus (god’s son), found in the polytheistic Arabia, made in the image of the human family.
The infallibility of the Bishop of Rome has never been universally accepted in the Church. Controversies were present during the council debate after the solemn 1870 declaration but, even today, not all doubts have been clarified. They arose from the ecclesiological reflection within the Church, but were also a consequence of the ecumenical dialogue with other Christian communities. The aim of this paper is to present the ecclesial issues that arose soon after Vatican Council I, which led to the schism and to the emergence of the Old Catholic Church, and a similar situation after Vatican Council II, exemplified by the case of H. Küng. There is a significant theological issue of the relation between Church infallibility in the transmission of the saving truth and the papal infallibility in this regard. A key question arises from it: is the Bishop of Rome independent of the Church while announcing the truth with the official stamp of infallibility, or is he just expressing the truth developed within the community of faith? The present reflection and the answer to these questions places the papal subjectivity within the broad spectrum of the Church, anchoring his office in the dimension of the collegium of bishops and of the whole community of believers, who have a supernatural sense of faith. By this train of thought, it is possible to abandon understanding infallibility as a tragedy and to see it as a gift and charisma of the Holy Spirit.

Brak konsensusu doprowadził do schizmy i powstania Kościoła starokatolickiego i ekskomuniki wielu teologów.

The possibility to adapt some theories of literature to the dogmatic theology in the area of trinitology does not mean the application of these strategies to the dogmatic formulas, but to the revealed Reality as such. Thus, it includes a transference of the interpretative mechanisms from the logical fi eld to the ontological one. Such a transference implies a scrupulous analyse tending to prove its legitimacy. On the other hand, this application,
Współczesne propozycje teologiczne poprzez zakorzenienie w tzw. z w r o c i e a n t r o p o l o g i c z n y m rzeczywiście zdają się bliższe życiu.

The contemporary theology puts a stress on the existential dimension of the faith. The great theological works of the last century focus on the anthropological aspect of the faith which has been shown by the works of Karl Rahner, Hans Urs von Balthasar and others. The theology does need to have roots in the human existence, for it begins in the reading of the Revelation concretised in the human life. Unfortunately, the dogmas are very often considered by Catholics as abstractive formulas hardly linked with the inner life. The contemporary theological proposals, thanks to some implantation in so-called a n t h r o p o l o g i c a l t u r n, seem to be really closer to the life. However, in spite of their existential direction, they remain products of intellectual speculations. In this context (i.e. tendency to join the faith teaching with the practice) the theology of the mystics and spiritual masters seems to be very useful since they did not practise the theology professionally but yet were perfect theologians thanks to their experience. T. Merton was one of such masters. His writings show how the theology explaining the fundamental dogmas (like Trinitarian or Christological dogmas) may be not so much a doctrinal investigation as a spiritual experience. Moreover, such theology is very strongly harmonised with the daily experience of the world and that is why it may help us accept the truths of the faith in the way they lead us to a deep spiritual experience.
This article based on Avery Cardinal Dulles S.J. ecclesiological thought shows temporal dimension of catholicity of the Church. It is one of the lines of argumentation for the structural credibility of the Church, which demonstrates that the Church as a structure and in its structure preserves Divine Revelation and communicates it in time and space to everyone. Article shows catholicity of the Church in time, that means identity and continuity of the Church from creation to the end of time (fullness of Kingdom of God). According to Dulles the Church has different stages. In a visible form it finally emerged in Jesus’ live, death and resurrection and sending of Holly Spirit. Thanks to its sacramental structure Church is dynamical and in time it changes forms of its life to be a sign of salvation for all. Therefore the Church is one and simultaneously diverse, it has to fit to all times to realize mission to preach Jesus Christ. To the structure of the Church in this time dimension pertain elements pointing to the unity in diversity of the Church: Tradition (as a not only static but also dynamic communication of Divine Revelation), reform (as a verification of the Church’s mission and the elimination of distortions of its function), doctrine of the Church (constantly interpreted preserves contents of Divine Revelation in a changing historical and cultural contexts), authority in the Church (hierarchical, theological and charismatic; they preserve purity of the Church’s teaching and fidelity of Divine Revelation). These elements participate in the Church’s transmission of Divine Revelation and salvation in time, and are premises of an structural argument of credibility of the Church.
In the ancient East one used to assign personal character to thousands of mysterious powers, whose presence one used to link to every kind of evil haunting man. The Bible does not only mention good spiritual beings – the angels – as described, but ones that also harm people, bring illness and cause temptation towards evilness are also spoken about. These spirits were called demons, and their commander was called Satan or the devil. The article depicts four points taken from biblical teachings about demons and Satan. The main development trends of this teaching in the history of Christian thought and the criteria applied in contemporary hermeneutics are looked at and linked to biblical texts about demons and Satan.

The article takes up the problem of understanding the religious education in the contemporary social and cultural context. It analyses the leading contemporary cultural attitudes, those of activism and autonomy in the perspective of building personal holiness of the believer, confronting them with the attitudes of submission to the will of God in a spirit of humility. The article addresses the issue of human subjectivity and its absolutist interpretation, in which freedom has no limits, which makes it difficult to adopt the Christian ideal of education, based on the active search for the will of God and obedience to it. The article also takes up the question of dogmas as a form of objectification of human religious experience, necessary for the proper development of religiosity and the way to holiness of life. The last issue discussed is a prayer as a tool for spiritual development and the obstacles and their consequences in the proper understanding and use of prayers, caused by mixing orders of spiritual and cultural myths.

Artykuł podejmuje problem rozumienia wychowania religijnego we współczesnym kontekście społeczno-kulturowym. Artykuł podejmuje też kwestię dogmatów jako formy obiektywizacji religijnego doświadczenia człowieka, koniecznej do prawidłowego rozwoju religijności i drodze ku świętości życia.
