Didactics of the “Language of Economics” (part I). What is the So-Called “Language of Econom-ics”? A Few Remarks on Linguistic Determinants of the Didactics of the “Language of Economics”. An increase of the fundamental significance of specialized languages has made it necessary to investigate their nature and seek more effective methods for teaching them. In the context of modern civilization changes, an extremely important task for linguists is a reflection upon the ontological status of specialized language, including the so-called “language of economics” lying at the core of our discussion. Also, of great significance are linguistic and glottodidactic implications resulting from that reflection (see the second part of this article in this volume). Accordingly, the expression language of economics will be discussed here in connection with other expressions, which are closely related to each other, such as lan-guage of economy or language of business. Moreover, the constitutive elements of those expressions, i.e. economics, economy and business, will be accounted for. Although the discussion presented here is mostly based on German literature, but they can be extrapolated to other languages.
Didactic devices help to increase the efficiency of the instruction process. Most commonly they are divided by applying the criterion of exposed stimuli. We speak then of: visual devices, auditory devices and audiovisual ones. Some add also verbal devices or others, affecting the sense of taste or smell. This vast variety of didactic devices is used in teaching religion too. Image, sound, multimedia combined with a proper catechist’s verbal commentary are supposed to actualize the primary goal of catechesis, i.e. “to put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ” (Catechesi tradendae 5). Th e teacher’s activities and the use of didactic devices should always be harmonized for the better achievement of this aim. Then it constitutes the basis for appropriate cooperation between the catechist and the pupil in order that the catechetical instruction become more effective.
The presented commemorative sketch refers to the figure of the Reverend Professor Marian Lewko depicting him as an outstanding academic teacher thoroughly engrossed in University activi- ties. He perceived his didactic work as pursuit which bore a sense of mission. It evokes the Profes- sor’s flair for conducting classes – always carefully prepared and perfectly taught – and his unri- valled wish to cover the chosen material fully and diligently. The text also underlines the issue of high requirements; both proposed and adhered to. Having been an exceptional documentalist and an insightful analyst, the Reverend Professor himself expected his students to develop the knack for collecting needed materials, to adopt a responsible research approach and not to forget about meti- culousness needed in phenomenon analyses. At the same time, however, the text strongly emphasiz- es the Reverend Lewko’s extraordinary kindliness and his broad perspective on students’ needs. His sensitivity, his proficiency in sharing his knowledge with others together with his deep feeling of satisfaction, stimulated by his students’ successes, should not be forgotten. The unique sense of community present during Professor’s classes created favourable conditions for developing cordial human relations and for establishing close relationships between students and their teachers.
Valency theory helps us to better understand how sentences and phrases are structured. In the field of German Linguistics there are two centres of valency research: in Leipzig and in Mannheim. In the first part, this article describes the valency model by Ulrich Engel, being the main representative of the Mann-heim valency centre. In the next two parts the author shows two examples of practical application of Engel’s valency model to didactics (teaching German syntax) and in the analysis of German advertise-ments. The demonstration of applying the knowledge of specific complements in teaching German syntax is based on many years of teaching practice by the author. The results of these analyses demonstrate the factual implementation of syntactical valency requirements in a text genre that is characterized by a high degree of brevity. In line with the initial premises, the argumentation in the last part of the article has for the first time established that compact marketing texts as used in advertisements often use reduced valency constructions.
Current times carry a huge load of various events because the 21st century is the century of great changes and huge progress in various spheres of human life. The feeling of security in many environments and social groups diminishes due to development of social and civilization threats. This is why safety education is increasingly important in counteracting various threats. Informing about the kinds of threats and their likelihood, widely understood preventive actions, and rational education in all possible spheres of life – ideally all should be part of teaching safety sciences.
W przekroju 15 lat istnienia Katedry można zaobserwować wykształcenie się oryginalnej szkoły nauczania. Do jej fundamentalnych cech należą: nierozłączne traktowanie urbanistyki i architektury, uznanie za priorytetowe kształtowanie zdrowego środowiska życia człowieka we wszystkich skalach i aspektach, dążenie do wielowątkowego traktowania przestrzeni począwszy od problematyki miasta i dzielnicy do wzajemnych relacji funkcjonalno-przestrzennych w małym zespole urbanistycznym, z równorzędnym traktowaniem kompozycji przestrzennej w skali urbanistycznej i architektonicznej w nawiązaniu do ducha miejsca i kontekstu.

The fifteen-year-old Chair has formed an unconventional school of training. Its fundamental features are: inseparability of urbanism and architecture, priority of shaping a healthy habitat place for man in all scales and aspects and aiming at a many-sided treatment of space from the subject matter of the town and district to mutual functional and spatial relations in a small urban complex with an equiponderant treatment of a spatial composition in an urban and an architectural scale with reference to the spirit of a given place and its context.
In the paper we discuss learning and teaching with activising methods, referring in particular to physics. From the perspective of the representational theory of mind and the classic authors in didactics, it is possible to define active learning as a process which is primarily a result of the personal readiness of the student and his activity, and to a smaller extent, of the teacher’s actions. Didascalocentrism – the focus on the actions of the teacher, rather than on the student and his environment, is the main obstacle to interactive learning and the acceleration of the cognitive process. We conduct the analysis in the context of learning physics and corresponding natural concepts in schools and other educational institutions.
Innovative and inspirational teaching is now seen as a key element that can encourage young people to become involved in science education. By promoting interesting ideas and increasing the attractiveness of the lessons, students build an interest in science and technology. Finding new ways to stimulate the interest of young people and children as early as kindergarten, as well as to mprove the quality of science teaching, is one of the main tasks of modern education. The Department of Physics Education at Copernicus University in Torun, has been implementing pioneering projects and activities associated with teaching for a number of years, including numerous presentations, lectures and interactive exhibitions (Karwasz 2011). In the area of media education, different trails, multimedia encyclopedias and handbooks have been prepared. Related to the implementation of specific projects, demonstrations have been carried out on a regular basis and have included elements of interactive theater, supporting education in the fields of the natural sciences.
The paper presents selected problems that have appeared while lecturing about social insurance and pension systems at the faculty of Finance and Accountancy at the University of Economics. Bearing in mind teaching experience at faculty of Management, Computer Science and Fi- nance at the Wrocław University of Economics (studies of 1st and 2nd degree) a survey of subjects was made. The subjects covered the issue of pensions system and social insurance. Other factors considered were the number of hours lectured and how prioritised the subjects were. It was pointed out that mathematical and statistical methods should be more widely used whi- le teaching about pension systems and social insurance, especially with regards to the calculation of demographic risk and the calculation of insurance premium and benefits. The second part of the article deals with the practical aspects of applying the issue of pension economics in BA and MA thesis. It also covers the basic problems associated with such thesis, concentrating on how to define basic notions and how to do analysis using quantative methods.
In the first part of the article entitled the relationship between catechesis and technological innovations is shown. This highlights the role of new technologies in communication between generations, since this depends on both the deposit and faith, as well as the pedagogical process, which are the constitutive elements of catechetical mission. Finally, the fundamental challenges in present times have been pointed out, showing that they are so heavily penetrated by the tele-information culture. Therefore, it may be concluded that innovative training resources may be a valuable help in the process of teaching religion, when a teacher will seek to understand changes that have taken place in cultural awareness and psychology in a new generation. However, they only play a supportive function to catechetical methodology and pedagogical strategy and they should never substitute the catechist and his or her personal relationship with a student.
Umiejętna organizacja pracy podczas poszczególnych jednostek lekcyjnych będąca kluczem do efektywnego rozwoju ucznia, prowadzi do podjęcia tematyki związanej z metodami dydaktycznymi.
XX
In the article there were presented inspirations for didactic work related to the philosophical education at school. In order to show the issue of philosophical education, there was presented short description of philosophy didactics as a science and its basic functions. Then there were considerated main components of philosophical education out of the core curriculum analysis. Next the author alnalyses education goals and curriculum content which we can find in ministry documents. There were also decipted the main teaching principles, which play fundamental part in education. This principles are also pointers for teachers, who schould remember them when teaching a class. Skilfull class organisation is a key to effective pupil development and due to that the atricle raises issues related to teaching methods.
Autor w swoim tekście podejmuje refleksję nad miejscem, rolą i znaczeniem programu do nauczania języka polskiego.
The picture of the battle of Grunwald presented in the Polish history textbooks, from those published during the partitions through the interwar textbooks to the post-war ones andthose used after the educational reform in 1999 was changing. Each of those periods was characterised by a particular approach to the battle as it was attempted to make use of thehistory for the needs of the current politics. That is why the events of 1409–1411, although unambiguously interpreted as a great victory, had an undercurrent depending on the plannedand expected effects of the message. Teaching as well as learning is based mainly on words, that is why textbooks play such an important role in those processes. Textbooks as information carriers reaching wide audiences are perfectly suitable for the purpose of creating the pastaccording to the needs of the current political situation. Textbooks published during the partitions focused mainly on the victories of the Polish army and on those decisions of thePolish rulers and commanders which contributed to the increase of the country’s power. The Teutonic Order was identified with Prussia – one of the powers involved in the partitions. The germanisation period contributed to associating it with the Third Reich. That is why Poles willingly cast their minds back to the glorious pictures of the past victories over the contemporary oppressor. When the longed-for freedom came the history textbooks were not altered in any major way. The positive moments in the history of our country were emphasised, this time in order to remind those who were born under the foreign ruling that they should double they effort to unite the brutally torn country. This idea was interrupted by the outburst of another world conflict. Its aftermath, namely the annexation of Polandinto the Eastern Bloc, had long-lasting consequences. The authority imposed by the Soviet Union attempted to create an anti-western and anti-imperial myth of Grunwald. The battlewas depicted as an example of a Slavic brotherhood of blood and the victory of the nations of the Soviet Union over Germany – an enemy of time immemorial identified with the TeutonicOrder. In the textbooks published after 1989 we will not find the identification of the Teutonic Order with Germany. The authors usually show the holistic European background of the battleof Grunwald pointing out that the victory had wide repercussions on the international arena and its consequences had an immense influence on the 14th-century Europe. The power ofthe Jagiellonian country increased as it took the helm of the old continent’s politics for a long time while the influence of the Teutonic Order decreased. The analysis of the Polish historytextbooks suggests that the battle of Grunwald was, and still is, an event of which Poles are proud and as such occupies special space on the textbooks’ pages.
Autorka artykułu „Jak mówić i czytać o Zagładzie?
