Politologia jako wieloparadygmatyczna struktura wiedzy

Artykuł stanowi podsumowanie refleksji autora dotyczących aktualnego stanu badań politologów nad życiem politycznym społeczeństwa. Prowadzone są one w ramach kilku głównych paradygmatów badań, zaadresowanych do poszczególnych aspektów polityki. W artykule postawiono tezę, że współczesna politologia może się rozwijać jako struktura (czyli całość złożona z niejednorodnych elementów) wiedzy, gromadzonej przez poszczególne subdyscypliny politologiczne, a także pozostałe dyscypliny nauk społecznych. Ciągła debata nad prawomocnością formułowanych tez w obrębie jednych paradygmatów (i ocenianych z perspektywy pozostałych) pozwala stworzyć bogatszy, choć niejednorodny, obraz życia politycznego danego społeczeństwa oraz współżycia narodów. Strategia autarkiczna odcinałaby refleksję politologiczną od inspiracji teoretycznej i heurystycznej ze strony socjologii jako ogólnej teorii społeczeństwa, a także ekonomii, dostarczającej danych empirycznych o związkach państwa z biznesem oraz o dystrybucji bogactwa społecznego.

The article summarizes the author’s reflection upon the present state of research in political science. The latter is being conducted within several major paradigms concerning various aspects of politics. The author claims that contemporary political science may develop as a structure (or a whole comprised of heterogeneous elements) of knowledge accumulated by different sub-disciplines of political science as well as by other social sciences. Continuous debate on the validity of theses formulated within certain paradigms (and evaluated from a point of view of others) allows to create richer, yet mixed picture of political life of a given society and international relations. However, the autarchic strategy would detach political science from a theoretic and heuristic inspiration coming from sociology as a general theory of society and economy providing empirical data about the relationship between state and business on the one hand and distribution of social welfare on the other.
