The article presents a relatively unknown issue of Polish-US economic cooperation i.e. Polish export to this country during Bierut’s and Gomułka’s administrations. The chronology of the article is justified by the US policy, which in the years 1945–1967 can be divided into two periods: 1945–1960 and 1961–1967. It is to be stressed that these two periods differed a lot from each other and were characterized by different dynamics. The text is based mainly on documents created by the Foreign Department of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which were deposited in the Central Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw. Auxiliary materials, such as statistical yearbooks, Journals of Laws of the Republic of Poland, English literature, newspapers and magazines, were also indispensable for the analysis of the problem. The article presents Polish export to the US in figures interpreted by the author. The goal of the article is to show US economic policy towards Poland and an attempt to answer the question whether economic issues influenced political relations of the two countries.
Agricultural real estate has always been a separate element in the functional plane. While assessing the character of agricultural production systems, it is important to pay attention to land use which can be defined as an essential means of production in the agricultural sector. Regardless of economic and organizational factors, land still remains a crucial component in agricultural production, which increases the importance of agricultural real estate. The fundamental attribute of ownership, especially in agricultural property rights, is a right to farm. Agricultural real estate is associated with farming which is understood as assets of the estate and stands for property in terms of civil law. Functional separation of agricultural real estate also relates to the concept of agricultural property which is a part of farming. Agricultural real estate refers to property and constitutes a set of rights and obligations. Organization of agricultural production activities within the cluster Key words: cluster, innovation, economic cooperation, socio – economic development In recent programs of socio – economic development of the European Union the issue of the organization of modern and innovative forms of economic cooperation, such as clusters gained special meaning. In literature, the term cluster is usually defined as a geographic cluster of interrelated companies, specialized suppliers, service providers, firms in related sectors associated with them institutions, in particular fields that compete and also cooperate with each other. Expanding cooperation within the so–formed network and implementing scientific institutions, local and regional authorities and other support organizations located in a certain proximity, allow to expand the sphere of influence, improve information flow, business operations and competitiveness and innovativeness of the business in a particular region. And these are the assumptions that are the essence of the European concept of the cluster as an innovative form of economic cooperation. The issue of rural clusters is discussed much less frequently than issues related to industrial clusters. Recent objective to improve the competitiveness and rural development policies adopted by the European Union in WPR to 2020: cope with future challenges related to food, natural resources and territorial aspects, involve improving the competitiveness and innovation activities through the creation and promotion of projects jointly implemented, including those fulfilled within clusters. In the Polish economic realities the development of clusters in rural areas faces a far–reaching difficulties. The essential difficulties result from the lack of tradition and willingness to cooperate among agricultural producers as well as producers and other subjects of agri – food market. Even more far–reaching are the legal uncertainties, which are concentrated in three areas. First, whether agricultural activity may be regarded as innovative activity. Second, whether on the basis of existing rules can agricultural entrepreneurs be regarded as producers and their manufacturing activity as a business activity, according to the requirements of forming a cluster and can agricultural producers benefit from financial assistance under the program of Innovative Economy. And thirdly, you should consider the importance of agricultural producer groups and their organizations in the creation and functioning of clusters associated with the agri – food production.
Partnership creates a basis for relations and connections (including between states, cross-border and interregional), enabling the development of contacts and comprehensive economic and non-economic cooperation. This role is performed in its various forms and on a different basis. The article presents the partnership (including the economic one) that is being implemented between Poland and Russia, its scope, stages of development and the existing tariff, non- and par-tariff barriers in trade. The analysis shows that currently the Polish-Russian partnership is selective in nature and is subject to a high degree of uncertainty as a result of political decisions.
The article focuses on economic cooperation between Poland and Ukraine. The author analyzes documents and legal regulations governing this cooperation. The paper compares statistical data on trade between the two countries and bilateral investment in industry, financial services and the energy sector. The main purpose of the paper is to show that bilateral economic relations are stable and testify to the existence of a strategic partnership between Poland and Ukraine. The analysis of bilateral agreements reveals that the existing legal framework is sufficiently developed to encourage further investment and economic cooperation between Poland and Ukraine. Moreover, many Polish investment projects in Ukraine and Ukrainian projects in Poland confirm that there is a high level of mutual interest. Another conclusion is that the limited capacity of the Polish-Ukrainian border poses a major obstacle to the development of bilateral cooperation. To remedy this problem, it is necessary to make better use of all available legal instruments and introduce joint customs and border clearance at all border crossings between the two countries, Kuspys says.
T he 1980s witnessed a significant improvement in bilateral relations between the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Republic of Poland which had been far from perfect due to the previous Chinese and Soviet conflict. A certain “new opening” was symbolized by the visit of Wojciech Jaruzelski to Beijing in September 1986. Although Warsaw expected much from cooperation with the PRC, particularly in the economic sphere, it soon turned out that Beijing was a very pragmatic partner focused mainly on pursuing its own economic and politi-cal interests. Therefore, Warsaw was ultimately disappointed by the revival of Chinese and Polish relations because they did not bol- ster trade in the long term, which was highly desirable, and the information received from the PRC about its economic reforms were of limited value due to the specifics of the Middle Kingdom. The article is aimed at presenting the developments in the Polish and Chinese relations during the 1980s.

The paper contains a deep analysis of exports of Belarus and defines the proposals for its development. Economic comparisons and systematisation, which is based on the official statistical data for 2012–2018, are used in the study. It is concluded that Belarus exports have a poor diversification; export development is largely determined by Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) integrating processes; export support of innovative goods and evolution of a single service market through the enhanced cooperation are possible. A generalised model for the export development of innovative goods and services of the EAEU member states on a cooperative basis is proposed.
In the face of challenges caused by crisis, further limitation of intensity and scope of economic cooperation within the framework of transatlantic relations can be observed and expected. For each of the parties concerned their own economies become a priority. Within the EU coordination and resolution of internal problems can proceed at the cost of relinquishing or temporarily suspending progress of cooperation with the USA. At the same time, however, the potential offered by the setting up of a Transatlantic Common Market is a unique opportunity for both parties and can become a remedy to (post)crisis problems.
Wietnam jest jednym z głównych partnerów Unii Europejskiej wśród krajów Stowarzyszenia Narodów Azji Południowo-Wschodniej (ASE-AN). Z myślą o zacieśnieniu unijno-wietnamskich sto-sunków gospodarczych Unia w ostatnich latach zawarła z Wietnamem Umowę ramową o wszechstronnym partnerstwie i współpracy, a także zakończyła rokowania w sprawie zawarcia umowy o utworzeniu strefy wolnego handlu.

Vietnam is one of the major trading partners of the European Union among countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The dynamic development of Vietnamese economy and its commitment to the regional integration process arouse an increasing in-terest of European companies. Thus, the EU aims at strengthening eco-nomic relations with Vietnam. In recent years, both partners concluded the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Coopera-tion (PCA), and negotiations on creating a free trade zone (EVFTA). The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement is the most comprehensive agree-ment concluded by the Union with a developing country and will be a model for EU trade agreements with developing countries. It is also a building block towards the conclusion of inter-regional EU-ASEAN agreement. The paper presents the economic relations between the EU and Viet-nam, including the economic cooperation and EU development assistance for Vietnam in the years 2010-2014. It also assesses the prospects for a further development of mutual cooperation, especially in the context of the recently concluded bilateral agreements.
The history of economic relations between Italy and Albania is a typical example of asymmetric relationship between two countries with geographic proximity but with very different dimensions. The importance of this bond is essential for Albania, as Italy is our greatest economic and trade partner, but also from the Italian perspective these relationships have a greater weight than we might expect given the size of the Albanian economy, due to geographical proximity and preferential relations between the two countries. The relations with Albania are included in the broader context of the Italian policy in the entire Balkan region as these countries transition towards free market economic system is of great importance for the European integration processes. Since 2000, the economic cooperation has grown, but its features (trade balance deficit, restricted investment areas, à façon industries, etc.) still persist. This paper intends to highlight the strengths and drawbacks of Italian – Albanian economic relations in its early stages from 1990 to 2000.

The Federal Republic of Germany is, without doubt, a regional power. However, in its policies for the Baltic sub-region it has for years opted not to use its status to achieve strategic goals on its own. Rather, Germany has skilfully integrated its national interests into the pursuits of regional organisations and the European Union as such. This principle is still vital in shaping the German Baltic policy, but at the same time the Federal Republic tends to increasingly rely on a poly-strategic instrumental apparatus in its policies for the Baltic region. Distinct and crucial to them is engagement in close cooperation with the Russian Federation, which is, however, restricted to organising the freight traffic system and ensuring the security and continuity of energy resources supply from Russia.

Przedstawiono podstawowe rodzaje innowacji: produktowe, procesowe, organizacyjne i marketingowe, a następnie przeprowadzono krótką weryfikację źródeł, dzięki którym powstają.

The article refers to the issue of innovation and economic cooperation between small and mediumsized enterprises. The authors attempt to assess the extent to which different types of innovations are generated by specific sources and to check the impact of economic cooperation of enterprises on the innovation process. The basic types of innovation were presented: product innovation, process innovation, organizational innovation and marketing innovation, followed by a brief verification of the sources through which they are created. A little more space was devoted to economic cooperation, which especially affects the innovative processes introduced by SMEs. Then, the results of 786 companies from Mazowieckie Voivodship were presented, which verified five hypotheses about the relationship between types of innovation and sources of innovation, with a particular emphasis on economic cooperation.
The aim of this article is to analyze the causes of the increased involvement of the Russian government in the development of the Far East, to identify the directions of actions taken to promote development in this region and to assess them, taking into account the existing barriers. Regardless of the numerous concepts, programs and strategies adopted, the Russian government has been unable to develop a genuinely comprehensive model for the region’s development and to generate tangible development stimuli in the region. Considering the concrete measures taken by the Russian government, energy and transportation should be recognized as the region’s most promising sectors. The consequence of the priorities adopted by the Russian government will result in the deepening reliance of the Russian and regional economies on the energy sector. The main barriers to the development of the Far East are those linked to the systemic problems existing in Russia as a whole, whereas many other barriers have a specifically local character. There are no prerequisites that would permit the assumption that, in the medium or long term, the economy of the Far East could become competitive, given the rapid development of China. In the current circumstances, it appears that its status as a stable supply base of raw materials for Asiancountries is the maximum development potential of the Far East.

Mimo wielu przyjętych koncepcji, programów i strategii, władze Federacji Rosyjskiej nie potrafiły zdefiniować rzeczywistego, kompleksowego modelu rozwoju regionu i wygenerować skutecznych impulsów rozwojowych w regionie.
Wskazano podstawy formalno-prawne współpracy krajów WNP i Unii Europejskiej, a następnie przedstawiono różnice we wzajemnej współpracy występujące na płaszczyźnie politycznej i gospodarczej (wymiana handlowa i współpraca inwestycyjna).

Countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States take an important place in the European Union's external relationships. At the same time, for many CIS countries, the EU is a very attractive partner for cooperation, mainly in the economic sphere. However, in terms of relationships, we can talk about far-reaching differentiation, both in the political and economic sense. The author identifies and discusses the above-mentioned differentiation of economic and political cooperation between the CIS countries and the European Union. The formal and legal bases of mutual cooperation were analysed. Next, a synthetic description of diversification in political and economic cooperation (in terms of trade and investment cooperation) between the Commonwealth of Independent States and the European Union was presented. In conclusion, the author states that the cooperation between Russia and the European Union is the most developed in the economic sphere. However, there is a strong rivalry in the political sphere. The rest of the member countries of the CIS are trying to cooperate as closely as possible with the EU, which is considered as an important trade partner. On the other hand, Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic are members of the CIS, which involvement in political and economic cooperation with the EU is insignificant.

International trade in services is a relatively new phenomenon and measuring its size encounters many barriers. The most comprehensive source of information on trade in services is the balance of payments. According to balance of payments statistics, the value of Polish-Ukrainian trade in services is significantly lower than that of merchandise trade. It does not include, however, the whole Polish-Ukrainian services trade (imperfection of the data collection, unregistered provision of services, etc.) and, therefore, does not give the full picture of reality. The aim of this article was to present an in-depth analysis of the Polish-Ukrainian trade in services and the prospects for its development. In the article, the descriptive and statistical research methods were used. The study found that in recent years Poland’s service exports to Ukraine had been growing much faster than its imports from that country. An important factor affecting service exports was the economic situation in Ukraine. In turn, in the Polish services imports from Ukraine, the following factors were important: tourist attractiveness of Ukraine (tourism), labour costs (processing) and the quality of services (IT services). In subsequent years, the development of Polish-Ukrainian trade in services will mainly depend, except from the economic situation in Ukraine, on progress in the reform of the Ukrainian economy and the effectiveness of the implementation of the trade part of the DCFTA, the association agreement between the European Union and Ukraine.
W szczególności artykuł analizuje istniejące formy współpracy w dwóch europejskich miastach: w Krakowie, mieście z nowego kraju członkowskiego Unii Europejskiej, i w Glasgow, ze starego kraju członkowskiego UE.

This paper analyses various forms of cooperation between local institutions in European cities, which emerge from the impact of European regulations laying down general provisions on structural funds, mostly in the programming period 2000-2006. More specifically, the paper addresses the issues of whether mobilization around EU-funded projects contributes to the emergence of new forms of cooperation or whether actors benefiting from EU funds are based on pre-existing local networks and relationships. Cooperation among institutions is analysed from two perspectives: ‘top down’ (decision making processes around EU projects) and ‘bottom up’ (mobilization to benefit EU funds). Specifically, this paper analyses existing forms of interactions between actors within two European cities: Krakow (from a new member state) and Glasgow (from an old member state).
Przeprowadzona analiza uprawniła do sformułowania wniosków odnośnie do perspektyw litewsko-białoruskiej współpracy.

Współpraca gospodarcza jest pojęciem wielopłaszczyznowym, trudnym do sklasyfikowania. Liczne badania naukowe potwierdzają złożoność form relacji międzyorganizacyjnych. W artykule podjęto próbę ogólnego zarysowania korzyści i zagrożeń dotyczących współpracy gospodarczej.

Economic cooperation is a multifaceted concept that is difficult to classify. Numerous scientific studies have confirmed the complexity of organisational relationships and the forms they take. This short paper examines the benefits and risks of economic cooperation and, using a review of the literature, discusses the theoretical essence of economic cooperation, the forms it takes and the importance it carries for the entities cooperating. It is hypothesised that economic cooperation is one of the main conditions modern enterprises must engage if they wish to develop.

The evolution of the global economy has led to the emergence of new, important entities on the international arena, among which, undoubtedly, are the BRICS countries. The growth of their importance is reflected, inter alia, in the increase of their share of global revenue and the value of their currency reserves. For several years, the BRICS countries have sought a more formal recognition of their growing importance in the global economy, which has led to the establishment of their joint development bank and their own reserve funds. This study assesses the significance of the BRICS group as a subject of the global economy in the early years of the 21st century, in comparison to traditional economic powers. It contains descriptive and comparative analysis, as well as a systematisation of statistical information and observations. The analysis shows that the BRICS countries will continue contributing to the changes occurring in the global economy in the coming years. The study also looks at problems that may hinder the rapid development of these countries, including, environmental issues, international conflict, disease and terrorism.

The main objective of the article is to present the political-economic relations between the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan in 1991-2021. Fundamental research problems concern the issue of increasing partnership intensity. Ther main research questions are as follows: Is there a correlation between the transformation and reform measures undertaken by the authorities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and the growing interest in deepening relations by the Republic of Poland?; Has the announcement of further liberalisation measures in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan influenced the intensification of cooperation in political and economic aspects?; How has the perception of Poland by political dissidents in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan changed over three decades? The primary research tools used in the paper were source and quantitative analysis. Statistical data, official announcements of state institutions and press articles were used as the material for the source analysis. Sorting them out, then analyzing them, allowed drawing conclusions. The quantitative analysis was used to assess the frequency of meetings of state leaders or parliamentary groups, changes in the volume of Polish exports and imports with the countries in question, and the increase in the number of Polish companies operating in the Kazakh and Uzbek markets.
