In this essay the question of how to reconcile active citizenship and sustainable development will be addressed. In particular, it is a question of developing in the first part of the article a reflection on the education of the citizen, in the second part the necessary conditions for the school to be able to contribute to the formation of the citizen will be addressed and finally the third part will be dedicated to demonstrating how and why the citizen education must also be carried out outside of school, in social life, in acting for sustainable development.

The period of the transformation in Poland was a time of crucial changes in the structure of social education and respective occupational groups (distinguished based on the ISCO-COM 88 classification). This paper investigated whether changes in the educational structure (of differentiated concentration in  respective occupational groups) were reflected in the changes in the relation of an average gross remuneration in a given occupational group and all employed in Poland. The analyses were conducted on the basis of the Eurostat and the Main Statistical Office data between 2002 and 2012.

Okres transformacji systemowej to w Polsce czas istotnych zmian w strukturze wykształcenia społeczeństwa, a także poszczególnych grup zawodowych (wyodrębnianych z uwzględnieniem klasyfikacji ISCO-COM 88). Stąd w pracy badano, czy zmiany w strukturze wykształcenia (o zróżnicowanym natężeniu w poszczególnych grupach zawodowych) przekładały się na zmiany relacji przeciętnego wynagrodzenia brutto w danej grupie zawodowej i wśród ogółu zatrudnionych w Polsce. Analizy prowadzono na podstawie danych Eurostatu i GUS-u. Horyzont czasowy prowadzonych analiz wyznaczają lata 2002-2012.
