The paper defines and analyzes the ideas of scientists and educators late XIX - early XX century., Whose innovative pedagogical searches active in educational activities significantly enriched the national pedagogical theory and practice. The main attention is paid to professional self-education teacher, his moral character. It is proved that the created image of the teacher has not lost relevance today J. Chipiga, A. Duhnovicha, S. In the article the role of education in human values of a personality is determined, the aspects of education in modern secondary, high school and post-graduate training of teachers is analyzed, the new trends in theory and practice of human values education in Ukraine according to the requirements of modern society are outlined. The article can be used in teaching courses of artistic culture in secondary schools, educational, historical, cultural disciplines in universities and for writing the scientific papers, the textbooks and the books, the development of elective courses and special seminars on pedagogy and cultural studies, in conducting educational work with the pupils, the students, the teachers, the organizers of educational, cultural and recreational activities. It is proved that the objective need of modernization modern transformation of the national higher education, general secondary and post-graduate teacher education is to approach the theoretical, methodological, social and educational heritage based primarily on their own vision of universal values as harmonizing the basis for the development of each individual and society as a whole. The revival of heritage professionals helps different generations (current and future) to understand the historical experience, optimize the ways and means of introduction of the new educational concepts and technologies. The prospects for the development aspects of the research are the following: a large-scale synthesis of the philosophical foundations, the methods and forms of teaching as direct impact on society and authorities; developing the methodological principles and means for the system of human values in modern educational work with the young people, parents, students, and the public. Educational system today is designed to ensure filling all parts of the educational process content to help the teachers educate soul, honest and strong characters, to form consciences and public virtues: hard working, sacrifice, respect for elders. Therefore, in our time the educators, scientists and leaders of organizing the educational process pay attention to knowledge axiological content and a variety of reasons connected with the changes in the life of Ukrainian society. These reasons assign the need for the students to take care in the social and psychological adaptation in difficult circumstances of society and dissemination of information, which destroys the human psyche and provokes social, family, ethnic and sectarian conflicts. We determine the need to improve the humanitarian education of children cannot be done without deepening, expansion and integration of knowledge of history, literature, culture, local history.

The paper seeks to determine what a 21st-century music education system should look like. The underlying assumption in author’s deliberations and development of model solutions was that it should consider the ongoing global transformations in education which are driven by cultural and technological changes, and that it should be deeply rooted in contemporary culture. The starting point for author’s reflections and conceiving new design solutions are opinions endorsed by experts in the field of education (including Sir Ken Robinson and Andreas Schleicher), as well as normative stipulations elaborated by major European institutions (i.a. the Council of the European Union). Further, the paper discusses the ongoing global transformations in education, including those pertaining to music education. Finally, the author presents the realities of the education system in Poland, and tries to conclude what should be changed and in what manner to make music education carry out a vital role and respond to the present needs; he also explains why the latest reform has hindered favourable changes in education.

W artykule skoncentrowano się na poszukiwaniu odpowiedzi na pytanie, jak obecnie powinna wyglądać powszechna edukacja muzyczna. Punktem wyjścia rozważań i tworzenia modelowych rozwiązań było założenie, że powinna ona uwzględniać przemiany edukacyjne, jakie dokonują się na świecie, wynikające z przeobrażeń kulturowych i cywilizacyjnych, poza tym powinna być głęboko osadzona we współczesnej kulturze. Podstawą autorskich myśli i budowania nowych koncepcyjnych rozwiązań są opinie ekspertów z dziedziny pedagogiki (w tym Kena Robinsona i Andreasa Schleichera) oraz założenia normatywne opracowane przez ważne europejskie instytucje (m.in. Radę Unii Europejskiej). W artykule omówiono również przemiany oświatowe, jakie dokonują się na świecie, w tym przeobrażenia w edukacji muzycznej. W końcowej części opracowania autor odwołał się do polskiej sytuacji, starając się odpowiedzieć na pytanie, co i jak należałoby zmienić, aby edukacja muzyczna pełniła ważne funkcje i odpowiadała na istotne współczesne potrzeby oraz dlaczego ostatnia reforma edukacyjna utrudnia dokonywanie pozytywnych przeobrażeń w dziedzinie oświaty.

The article analyses the educational ideas and social initiatives of the period of autonomy in Galicia, revealing several important elements. Two aspects should be pointed out by taking into account the rationale of the social principles of the Catholic Church, for which the impetus was provided by Leo XIII’s encyclical Rerum novarum, The focus on ‘catholicity’ shaping an identity for a reborn nation does not have a universalist dimension for a pluralistic society. The socio-political situation only partially justifies this approach. The social work undertaken by the clergy and those associated with the Catholic Church has made it possible to rebuild trust in the Church.

Przeprowadzona w artykule analiza idei wychowawczych i inicjatyw społecznych Galicji okresu autonomii ujawnia kilka istotnych elementów. Biorąc pod uwagę podstawy uzasadnienia oparte na zasadach społecznych Kościoła katolickiego, dla których impulsem była między innymi encyklika Leona XIII Rerum novarum, należy wskazać na dwa aspekty. Ukierunkowanie na „katolickość” kształtującą tożsamość dla odradzającego się narodu nie ma wymiaru uniwersalistycznego dla społeczeństwa pluralistycznego. Sytuacja społeczno-polityczna tylko częściowo uzasadnia takie podejście. Podjęta przez duchownych i osoby związane z Kościołem katolickim praca społeczna pozwoliła na odbudowanie zaufania do tegoż Kościoła.

The purpose of this paper is to present the conclusions from analyzing the content of the selected sightseeing periodicals issued in Polish in the Second Republic of Poland, focusing the research on: “Orli Lot”, “Ziemia”. When choosing the particular titles, not only the subject and language category were decisive, but also durability of particular tittles and their addressees. Therefore, we paid attention to periodicals published regularly and targeted to various reader groups, e.g. to adolescents. The research used methods proper to press studies and also was supported by geocriticism tools in order to reconstruct educational ideas propagated in the aforementioned periodicals. The ideas were supposed to, including but not limited to, create permanent system of moral concepts for the Poles, constituting grounds of the “new” citizen construct.
