The text presents the views of Professor Wesołowska about the role of adult education in shaping public awareness of citizens in the context of applying for admission to the European Union. The article raises the issues of understanding the essence of awareness and its impact on human activities. Attention is drawn to the pathologising of the process of shaping consciousness and its consequences. Additionally, there is a presentation of current opinion polls on the acceptance of the EU, its basic institutions, as well as the attitude of citizens towards receiving refugees in Poland.

Tekst prezentuje poglądy Profesor Wesołowskiej na rolę edukacji do- rosłych w kształtowaniu świadomości społecznej obywateli w kontekście ubiegania się o przyjęcie do Unii Europejskiej. Poruszone w nim zostały kwestie rozumienia istoty świadomości społecznej i jej wpływu na ludzkie działania. Zwrócono uwagę na patologizację procesu kształtowania świadomości oraz na jej konsekwencje. Przedsta- wiono aktualne badania opinii publicznej na temat akceptacji UE, jej podstawowych instytucji, a także stosunku obywateli do przyjmowania w Polsce uchodźców.
