The aim of this article is an attempt to analyse the institution of election validity and to examine in detail the notion of electoral protests which initiate this procedure. The importance given to the procedure of electoral results verification eventuates from the principle that the results of the elections are final and the implementation of an important function – the legitimisation of public authority. Electoral protests are useful in initiating election validity control by an independent judicial authority in order to examine whether infringements could have influenced the results of the elections. Electoral protests express civil dissatisfaction and the right to complain is inherent to every voter.
