This empirical research investigates state based factors affecting the inward FDI employment among fifty states of the United States, uses annual data for the period of time from 1997 to 2007 and identifies several state-specific determinants of FDI employment. The results indicate that the major factors exerting positive impact on inward US FDI employment are: real wages, infrastructure, unionization level, educational attainment, FDI stock and manufacturing density. In addition, the results show that gross state product growth rate, real per capita taxes and share of scientists and engineers have negative impact on FDI employment. Our findings indicate the importance of selected variables in evaluating the effects of FDI flow on state employment.

The aim of the executed research is to determine the influence of harvesting renewable energy on the labour market. Eurostat Databases provided a source of empirical data concerning the amount of produced energy. The number of the employed and the performance of the installed equipment were determined thanks to reports drafted by EurObserv’ER or International Renewable Energy Agency. The following sectors were considered: solid biofuels, biogas, liquid biofuels, geothermal, hydropower, municipal waste, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal and wind power. The research concerned 28 member states of the EU between 2009 and 2015. Such a scope was established due to significant changes on the renewable energy market triggered by the Climate and Energy Package passed by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. The number of the working people (directly in the enterprises operating in the field of producing raw energy materials and energy from renewable sources, as well as providing equipment and services within this field) in relation to 1 000 tonnes of oil equivalent of the primary energy obtained in particular sectors of renewable energy sources was used as the performance indicator. Panel estimation was used as means of empirical indication of relations between the variables.

Irena Ramik-Mażewska, Employer’s Assistant – new value in employing persons with disabilities. Interdisciplinary Contexts of Special Pedagogy, no. 27, Poznań 2019. Pp. 417–432. Adam Mickiewicz University Press. ISSN 2300-391X. e-ISSN 2658-283X. DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2019.27.20 The purpose of this article is to present the initiative of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland, which is aimed at increasing the professional activity of persons with disabilities. The developed and tested model of the employer’s assistant is, in the special pedagogy, a new quality directed towards the labour market. The Employer’s Assistant does not deal, in essence, only with a person with a disability, but mainly with the environment of employers to hire persons that suffer from disabilities. In the article, I refer to the assistant of the disabled person as a result of the biopsychosocial model of disability, which creates a great opening to the discussion on various models of assistance. I would like to point out the specific consequences of the lack of employment among people with disabilities. I present the premises of the employer’s assistant model and the evaluation of its effectiveness, the main consequence of which is the ability to build social capital of persons with disabilities. By cooperating with many environments, the employer’s assistant develops specific social behavioural patterns and becomes a foundation of social activity of persons with disabilities.

The interactive model of vocational rehabilitation includes two key components: the rehabilitated individual and the vocational rehabilitation environment. The interaction of these two elements should contribute to the improvement of vocational competencies of people with disabilities[1]. Due to the fact that parents are considered as the second main contributors (just after teaching staff) of vocational training as well as life and vocational orientation of children and teenagers[2], the family environment can be treated as a significant part of the vocational rehabilitation of people with intellectual disability. Therefore, the aim of this study was to discover how parents of individuals with intellectual disability participate, if they do, in vocational training of their children.  Materials and Methods: The study was conducted among parents of special vocational schools graduates using the survey ASZ-S-R by W. Otrębski and K. Mariańczyk. The results are based on the answers of 71 parents/guardians of graduates of special vocational schools located in South-East part of Poland. Results: Nearly 88% of respondents declared that they supported the vocational preparation of their children by holding talks about various vocational activities. Circa 40% of them also provided help to their children with disabilities to find employment (e.g. by searching for job advertisements); nevertheless, over a quarter do not engage in such an activity at all. Active participation of parents of graduates with intellectual disability is necessary to prepare their children to undertake vocational activities.   [1] W. The aim of this article is to analyze the chances of having a job using Bayesian logistic regression model. In this study both young and middle-aged people have been considered. The individual characteristics of economically active people have a significant impact on their labour market status. In this research the commonly studied set of features has been extended by adding the following characteristics: marital status, financial situation of the household, health assessment and the fact of living with parents in the case of young people. In this study, Bayesian logistic regression model has been used. The Bayesian approach enabled us to incorporate information from previous studies.

Difficult political and economic situation of Ukraine is quoted as the reason underlying growing inflow of the nationals of that state to Poland. The most frequently used instrument to obtain the right of stay and employment in Poland by Ukrainians is comprised by the declaration of an employer on the intention to entrust employment to a foreigner. Growth in the number of registered declarations causes a reaction of the government aimed to restrict the scale of the inflow. At the same time in the debate before parliamentary elections in 2015 the topic was addressed very rarely. In the case of migration issues, the debate was pursued around the problem of potential arrival to Poland of refugees from African states, who reached the European Union. The paper contains a statistical analysis of the scale of inflow of Ukrainians to Poland and conclusions from a review of the election agendas that emerged before the 2015 parliamentary elections in terms of account taken of migration topics. The paper also shows evolution of Polish immigration policy in the first years of 2010s. On this basis, three scenarios were presented for changes in Polish immigration policy as a result of the so-called “Ukrainian crisis”.

Introduction: Recent studies have indicated that an adequate nurse staffing in a hospital exerts an effect on both the level of health services provided and the safety of patients. Numerous reports confirm the shortage of nurses who, has been observed in almost all European countries, and may threaten the quality of health care. Purpose: The objective of the study is an analysis of nurse staffing and the factors which shape the demand for health care in Poland. Material and methods: The study was based on the analysis of scientific literature, legal acts and reports by Polish government and occupational organizations, which undertake the problem discussed. Results: For years, in Poland, a decrease has been observed in nurse staffing rates per 1,000 inhabitants, compared to 15 countries of the European Union. The factors which affect the nurse staffing rate in Poland include changes in the sector of health care and the vocational education of nurses. Simultaneously, the limitations in employment of nurses are accompanied by an increased demand for health services. Considering the shortages in nurse staffing, and an increase in the demand for health services, there is a necessity to undertake systemic actions, both on the national and European level. Conclusions: Systemic solutions are necessary to prevent a divergence between increasing public health care demand and limited or even decreasing number of nurses willing to work in the profession. Otherwise the realization of the health policy goals might be hindered.

The aim of this article is to present innovative changes in regulations of social entrepreneurship which have been enacted in recent years in Italy and in the UK. These reforms can be regarded as an expression of a new approach to social economy. Text is an attempt to determine the consequences for the labour market policy caused by the changing range of social entrepreneurship in Europe. I assume that to address this problem we must take into account The Theory of Transitional Labour Markets.

The objective of this paper is to show the relationship between the size of such factor as workforce and econo-mic growth rate in the 21st century, and, in particular, to determine the contribution of this factor to the economic growth. The empirical basis for the research represents statistics for Poland and the European Union country categories for the 2000–2019 period. The research shows that shares of employment growth rates in GDP growth (the socalled employment absorption rates) are much lower in Poland than in the Eurozone, EU-15 and EU-27 categories. The estimates of the jobless economic growth limits indicate that in Poland in the 2000–2019 period they were much lower than before, and were at a much higher level than in the Eurozone, the EU-15 and EU-27 categories.

The term industrial park is currently a very frequently used. One of the conditions of their development is a positive trend of capital movement and correct allocation of capital in new conditions of Slovak and world economy. In current post-industrial stage of development, industrial parks grow in quality in comparison of parks built in the past when all the activities of product building were allocated were concentrated into one single place. The new generation of industrial parks is characteristic by producing just one product or completion of final goods from components. The present day development in Slovakia confirms that it is necessary to support creation of industrial parks because it has a positive influence to activities supporting research and development and increasing of employment.

The article addresses an important issue from the point of view of the allegations formulated by the employers’ circles towards higher education regarding the incompatibility of educational programmes with the needs of the labour market. The author shows the shape of the adventure tourism brought to life at the Academy of Physical Education in Kraków. In the article the author presents the results of research in an attempt to answer the question whether such a profile creates a better chance for a career in the tourism industry. The research is a survey of preferences of employers during recruitment for a position related to tourism in companies organising tourist events. Results of this study indicate that in most companies experience is the strongest asset of candidates for a job. Adventure tourism major, however, is welcomed by the vast majority of respondents. The method used in this study refers to a small trial – this is due to the limited number of Polish companies organising adventure tourism or events with its elements. Among the few companies for which education is particularly important, a degree with a major in adventure tourism is an asset. Even those respondents for whom education is not a priority positively perceive the obtaining a degree in adventure tourism, as students of such major gain experience, acquire the skills needed to organise various tourist events and develop passions and interests which are also important in the tourism industry.

The issue of work in itself is a problem that can be analyzed on many levels and looked at through the prism of many scientific disciplines. Economics in her nature is a social science that studies the state of world economic life using mathematical methods. A fascinating issue for understanding work in economics is the business cycles, which clearly affect unemployment patterns around the world. The nature of economics, which is concerned with studying human activities in times of recession and, just as in times of prosperity, sets the course for politicians, entrepreneurs but also ordinary workers. This is made possible by analysing and observing the behaviour in the economic markets of the world. This article is leaning towards unemployment and employment in France since the beginning of the 21st century, since France is one of the leading economies, alongside Germany, in the European Union.

The aim of this study is to arrange the member states of the European Union in order of their labour market potential. The data used for research were provided by the European Statistical Office. Therefore, it was possible to provide reliable comparisons of individual countries. Based on the unemployment rate, the employment rate and other macroeconomic indicators, including GDP, the inflation rate, labour costs and amount of remuneration, a synthetic indicator was developed. Account was also taken of those elements of the economic environment of the labour market which theoretically demonstrate material interrelations with its structures. The results achieved prove the potential of the labour market, as well as its innovative and development abilities. The research is based on the Perkal synthetic index. The research findings were used to classify the member states of the European Union and to identify the countries with the highest and the lowest labour market potential.

Transfer of the undertaking is now an important issue for all European Union Member States, which shows the current status of work already completed transfers, as well as experts forecast the future. The part of the transferors, is primarily an attempt to maintain certain company‘s market position but also to preserve jobs as the transfer does not pass to the purchaser only the material part of the business, but also intangible personal folders and business, which consists of employees. In order to avoid collective redundancies due to the transfer of the business and whether by the transferor or the transferee and also provide some job security of employees, European Union has adopted several directives regarding this issue. These guidelines subsequently implemented by the EU Member States into their national laws. Similarly, the Slovak Republic in the Labour Code.
