This study aims to discuss one of the most significant economic and social developments in the world – the rise of the female entrepreneurship phenomenon. Women entrepreneurship needs to be studied as a separate field for two main reasons: (a). Female entrepreneurship is an important source of economic growth in creating new jobs and by being genetically different: women provide different solutions to management and business issues; (b). Female entrepreneurship has been neglected, particularly in business research. Although equal opportunity for men and women in the entrepreneurial field is not a reality in the short range, the progress towards its achievement could be facilitated by better understanding of the impact of female entrepreneurship on society and its contribution to economic growth. This study addresses the growth in female entrepreneurship in the developed and developing countries, explores primary motivational and other factors that influence female entrepreneurship, reviews the main obstacles facing the female entrepreneur, and finally makes recommendations to policy-makers to encourage and support such activity.

In recent years, with the development of entrepreneurship, a new concept has been coined - a start-up (or a startup). Because of the lack one common definition thereof, some questions emerge: Is any newly established company a start-up, or does this term refer only to companies fromthe branch/market sector of new technologies, or maybe there are other decisive requirements? The significance of this issue follows research and analysis of the entities are undertaken and also in the face of work on Prosta Spółka Akcyjna (a new legalform for economic entities of the discussed kind). The aim of the article is to present various ways of defining start-ups present in the subject literature, but also in various initiatives and activities organized in the start-up community. On this basis, an attempt is made to determine the boundary conditions of the concept of start-up and to characterize it

Despite the fact that discussions have focused on the Association Agreement and resolving the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine as a turning point in EU-Ukraine relations, we look at the European integration of Ukraine from the perspective of public opinion. This is important because public opinion is one of the most important EU factors that may affect European integration and Europeanization processes in the EU countries. This article provides among other aspects the answer to the question: What are the positive and negative effects of the integration of Ukraine into the EU, in the opinion of Polish entrepreneurs?

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this paper is to assess the state of entrepreneurship education in higher education institutions in Europe (which are not universities for Economics) comparing the academic developments in the field of entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and Western Europe (WE). THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: To fulfil the objectiveof the paper such research methods as literature review and Internet research were applied. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The process of arguments presented in this paper was systemized in two parts. Firstly, there was discussed the theoretical background of academic entrepreneurship education. Secondly, based on own Internet research there was presented and discussed the educationalprogramme in the field of entrepreneurship at selected European universities. RESEARCH RESULTS: There are discrepancies in teaching entrepreneurship between universities in Europe. West-European universities offer a richer entrepreneurship programme than those in South-Europe. Moreover, universities in CEE lag behind those in WE in entrepreneurship education. Poland is an exception, which offers a range of specialist subjects in the field of entrepreneurship, which Polish academics seem to specialize in. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS:The paper focuses on examining the entrepreneurship as a single subject (compulsory or optional) of university curriculum. It is recommended to analyze, if universities have specialist chairs for entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship centres offering a comprehensive entrepreneurship programme.

This paper builds on existing theoretical and empirical studies in the areas of family business and entrepreneurship. It uses Dubin´s theory building framework to propose a model for conducting research of family businesses and its linkage to entrepreneurial activities in Mexico. This works starts by describing the concepts of family business and explains the importance that these definitions can have on the variables to be included in the research. After that, the paper explains how the concept of “familiness” relates to the essence definition of family business. Using the resource-based view (RBV), agency theory, and social capital theories we describe how social capital resources are the basis for building firm capabilities and competitive advantages that influence firm’s performances. Based on this perspective, a theoretical model, laws of interaction, a set of propositions and suggestions for further research are provided.

In this article the author attempts to present an idea that entrepreneurship understood as abilities and skills, which shape new organizational reality, flexibility and risk tolerance are the essential factors that create a leadership relationship. It is assumed that there is a relationship between entrepreneurship and organizational leadership. A leader is not an obedient performer of tasks but a creator of new activities and relationships. Entrepreneurship is treated in the accepted sense as learned skills and abilities in the process of cultural inheritance of attitudes and behavior patterns existing in family, neighborhood, places in society and environment. Hence, in the article the author attempts to outline the path from entrepreneurial attitudes and behavior observed in childhood to act in the same manner in adulthood, including influencing the actions of associates in the workplace which exist in the Polish society.

Competence frameworks are increasingly used in several practice fields and have been an object of research. A typical development trend has been encapsulation into a particular field, not considering the developments in related fields. Similarly, in research, learning from neighbouring disciplines has been rare. Yet, during the past decade, there have been several attempts at linking essentially related disciplines in practice, such as entrepreneurship and project management. This is a reaction to the trends in the labour market – a growing demand for people with diverse competences. In this context, converging different fields via competences deserves more attention. This paper compares the competences required for project managers and entrepreneurs; in addition, it explores the possibilities for mutual enrichment, contributing to further linking of project management and entrepreneurship conceptually. The cross-examination of competences for entrepreneurs (The Entrepreneurship Competence Framework or EntreComp) and for project managers (International Project Management Association's Individual Competence Baseline [IPMA-ICB]) reveals some quite significant, but also weak, correlations. The linguistic approach used has natural limitations, as different terms have been used to convey the same concepts. Thus, a relational linguistic analysis and conceptual analysis have also been applied. The main implication is the recommendation to integrate core project management competences into competence models for entrepreneurs. A natural progression of this work is to build a common competence model for entrepreneurs and project managers.

In the article the results of women entrepreneurship development were shown. In their activity they are facing a lot of obstacles, mainly caused by the economic factors in Poland. The main barriers in effective way of running the business are: bureaucracy, high taxes and cost of labor. It is worth mentioning that barriers connected with sex are highly invisible. Among the respondents, majority of them acknowledged that sex has nothing to do with running own business. More than 20% claimed that being a women even helped with that. The results showed that appearance of the programs allocated for women would be a major motivation and short cut for the irresolute ones. Thanks to them the number of firms set up by women would increase dramatically.

A significant change affecting the dynamics of the importance of the SME sector was the crisis that began in 2008. Previous few analyses showed that the SME sector is more resistant to changes in business cycles than the large enterprises sector. The authors take an attempt to verify the hypothesis about smaller (than the large firms’) sensitivity of the SME sector to the changing economic conditions. The analysis was conducted basing on the available data from the years 2008–2011 about countries belonging to the euro area. Considerations concern the size and structure of the population of enterprises, the size and structure of employment by firm size classes and structure of created value added. The analysis does not allow for the adoption or rejection of the hypothesis about the independence of changes in SME sector and business cycles. Results do not confirm the SME sector greater resistance to the recession. Economies dominated by SMEswere visibly less successful in dealing with the bad situation after 2008. Certainly this does not mean that the deeper crisis was caused by smaller enterprises. In contrast, it can be concluded that in this group of countries, the SME sector has not proved to be a better economic stabilizer than in the other analyzed economies.

In processing companies, one of the problems they face is the final use of the waste generated by raw materials. For this reason, finding processing options for its use which at the same time generate income is an alternative for the management of new businesses. In Mexico, 33% of entrepreneurs seek to solve problems in the market or society, diversifying their source of income and expanding their creativity. The objective of this research is to develop new products from the industrial waste of shrimp and mango peels. The collection of information focused on the review of literature reports and reports from sources such as the Agro-Food and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP), the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the Council for Economic Development of Sinaloa (CODESIN), the Ministry of Economy, among others; contemplating the development of new products and entrepreneurship as an object of study. According to the diagnosis made by CODESIN, the areas with the greatest opportunity in the short term (1 to 3 years) to develop new products or, therefore, businesses in the bioeconomy area are processed foods, biofertilizers, and nutraceuticals. In conclusion, the development of a new product, such as shrimp and mango sauce, is an option for engineering and design, representing an area of opportunity for the operation of new businesses.

In recent years, female entrepreneurship has increased considerably on a global and national scale, and Sinaloa is no exception. The contribution of women entrepreneurs to local economic development is recognized, however, information on female entrepreneurship is scarce. The aim of this article is to identify the characteristics of women entrepreneurs and their participation in the local economy in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. An exploratory descriptive analysis of female entrepreneurship in Sinaloa was carried out. This research was conducted through secondary sources in order to investigate the characteristics from a qualitative approach. The main findings show that the female entrepreneur has capabilities that influence their entrepreneurship: work experience, they generally undertake entrepreneurship for socioeconomic needs (support for family income, improve standard of living), self-employment, new opportunities or increased income; family or friends are the main source of financing. In conclusion, the growth of female entrepreneurship is a natural evolution in the role of women in the labor force of our society. However, the main motivation that prevails is the need to obtain sources of income; likewise, women are able to perceive opportunities to be undertaken, although they are influenced by the fear of failure.
