Artykuł ukazuje wybrane perspektywy pracy edukacyjnej skupionej wokół przywracania pamięci społecznej miasta. Działania przybliżające przeszłość nabierają szczególnej wartości i rangi – są przeciwwagą dla „kultury zapominania”, która próbuje zdominować współczesne myślenie o człowieku, Odwoływanie się do tradycji, akcentowanie wartości dziedzictwa kulturowego miejsca/regionu, rozwijanie szeroko pojętej kultury historycznej jest nieodzowne we wzmacnianiu tożsamości ludzi. „Odkrywanie” na nowo małej ojczyzny w ramach pedagogiki pamięci skłania do aktywności, integruje mieszkańców, powodując tym samym zmiany środowiskowe. Edukacja na rzecz przywracania pamięci służy rehabilitacji wartości uniwersalnych.

The article presents selected perspectives of education work concentrated around a social memory of city. Actions bringing the past nearer have a special value and dignity – are oriented against a ‘forgetting culture’, which tries to dominate present day thinking of man. Appealing to the tradition, accentuating the values of cultural heritage of a place/region and developing a general idea of historical culture is indispensable for strengthening people’s identity. “Recovering” a little homeland in the frame of pedagogy of memory tends to undertake the activity and integrates inhabitants; in fact it gives an occasion for environment changes. The education for a memory restoration is connected with rehabilitation of universal values.
