Apokryf Nowego Testamentu jest utworem o charakterze biblijnym, opowiada o czasach i osobach związanych z działalnością Jezusa. Autor apokryfu naśladuje biblijne gatunki literackie (zwroty i obrazy), opisując wydarzenia z życia Jezusa. Jednak klimat religijny apokryfu jest odmienny od Ewangelii. Artykuł próbuje ukazać wizerunek Jezusa Chrystusa w tekstach apokryficznych pochodzących z chrześcijańskiej starożytności. Część pierwsza przedstawia ogólne informacje o apokryfach i prezentuje je przez pryzmat próby uzupełniania przez nie wiadomości o Jezusie, których brakowało w Ewangeliach kanonicznych. W części drugiej zaprezentowano wizerunek Jezusa na podstawie pism niekanonicznych. Ostatnia część (trzecia) zestawia oba wizerunki – kanoniczny i apokryficzny – i próbuje zdefiniować znaczenie apokryfów dla poznania historycznego Jezusa.

The New Testament apocrypha is a biblical work containing issues related to time and people associated with the activity of Jesus. The author of the apocrypha imitates biblical literary genres (phrases and images) describing events in the life of Jesus. However, the religious ambience of the apocrypha is different from the Gospel. The article attempts to show the image of Jesus Christ in the apocryphal texts of Christian antiquity. The first part offers general information about apocrypha and presents it as an attempt to supplement the information about Jesus that was missing in the canonical Gospels. The second part presents the image of Jesus on the basis of non-canonical writings. The last part (the third one) collates both images – canonical and apocryphal – and attempts to define the meaning of apocrypha to know historical Jesus. Although the apocryphal meaning for knowing Jesus Christ is debatable.
