In the United States, since the second half of the twentieth century, the issues of marriage and family sets more and wider aspects starting with the recognition of the right to abortion, euthanasia and ending with the legalization of same-sex marriage. A broad aspect of the activities undertaken by the American Episcopate, primarily by Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth, was inspired by Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation “Amoris laetitia”(“The Joy of Love”) proclaimed on April 8, 2016. Hard statistical data, as well as the observation of social life in the United States, prompted American bishops to begin a kind of "promotional campaign" based on the strategic plan developed for the period 2017-2020. Based on the answers of respondents (believers) plan was developed which is realized not only by the clerical or consecrated people, but also lay people using all the forms of communication available in the modern world: bishops’ letters read during the mass, social media supported by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, group and individual meetings organized by American dioceses.

W Stanach Zjednoczonych już od II połowy XX wieku problematyka małżeństwa i rodziny zakreśla coraz szersze aspekty począwszy od uznania prawa do aborcji, eutanazji, a na legalizacji związków jednopłciowych kończąc. Szeroka skala działań podejmowanych przez Episkopat Amerykański, głównie przez Komisję ds. Świeckich, Małżeństw, Rodzin i Młodzieży, zainspirowana została ogłoszoną przez papieża Franciszka 8 kwietnia 2016 roku Adhortacją Apostolską Amoris laetitia. Twarde dane statystyczne, jak również obserwacja życia społecznego w USA, skłoniła biskupów amerykańskich do rozpoczęcia swego rodzaju „akcji promocyjnej” w oparciu o plan strategiczny opracowany na lata 2017-2020. Opracowany na podstawie odpowiedzi respondentów (wiernych) plan realizowany jest nie tylko za pośrednictwem osób duchownych czy konsekrowanych, ale również świeckich z wykorzystaniem wszystkich dostępnych w świecie współczesnym form komunikacji: listy biskupów czytane podczas mszy, media społecznościowe obsługiwane przez Konferencję Episkopatu USA oraz spotkania grupowe i indywidualne organizowane przez poszczególne amerykańskie diecezje.

The present article is an attempt to answer Holy Father Francis’s plea expressed in the exhortation Amoris laetitia, calling to better prepare young people for receiving the sacrament of matrimony. The problem that is shown is the answer to the question about the most important task that preparation for entering into marriage should carry out, so that it would be most efficient, that is, it would bear fruit in the form of the consciousness of the importance of the sacrament, of accepting all its attributes, of receiving the sacrament in a valid and honest way, and then deepening the relations with God and with the spouse throughout the life. The most important tasks of preparation to the sacrament of matrimony that can be found in the exhortation Amoris laetitia and that are subjected to analysis in the article include: preaching the Christian kerygma, care for chastity, promoting marriage and family, showing the value of marital fertility and mystagogue for the sacrament of matrimony.

Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na apel Ojca Świętego Franciszka, wyrażony w adhortacji Amoris laetitia, wzywający do lepszego przygotowania młodych ludzi do zawarcia sakramentu małżeństwa. Ukazanym problemem jest odpowiedź na pytanie o najważniejsze zadania, jakie powinno wypełniać przygotowanie do małżeństwa, żeby było jak najbardziej skuteczne, czyli owocowało świadomością znaczenia tego sakramentu, akceptacją wszystkich jego przymiotów, ważnym i godziwym przyjęciem sakramentu małżeństwa, a następnie pogłębianiem relacji z Bogiem i małżonkiem przez całe życie. Do głównych zadań formacji do sakramentu małżeństwa, odczytanych z adhortacji Amoris laetitia i poddanych analizie w tym artykule, należą następujące: głoszenie kerygmatu chrześcijańskiego, troska o czystość, promocja małżeństwa i rodziny, ukazywanie wartości małżeńskiej płodności oraz mistagogia do sakramentu małżeństwa.

Pope Francis in the exhortation Amoris laetitia stresses the importance of the spirituality of the family, basing it on the affirmation of a self-imparting God and cooperation with grace. The family, contemplating the intra-Trinitarian relations, should shape its bonds on the communion of the Divine Persons. To achieve this goal, it is necessary for the family members to be open to meeting God in prayer and in the Eucharist, as well as in everyday life, which in this way acquires a theological dimension. Encompassed in this is the cross and the resurrection, a contemplation of the fullness that is in God as well as the experience of human limitations. In this context, the family, as the domestic Church, participates in the virtue of hope and sees its fulfillment in eternity. Openness to accepting God’s action in family life is, at the same time, a strengthening of the interpersonal bonds. This is expressed in definitive, exclusive and personal love and reaches its fullness in fruitful love. A significant trait of the spirituality of the family is the selfless reception of new life and the receiving and giving of love. This is accomplished through words and gestures of love, mutual care and support. The manifestation of the spiritual maturity of the family is its missionary character and hospitality. A strong family influences its surroundings and transforms the world into a home where there is true fraternity.

Papież Franciszek w adhortacji Amoris laetitia podkreśla znaczenie duchowości rodzinnej. Osadza ją na afirmacji samoudzielającego się Boga i współpracy z łaską. Rodzina, kontemplując relacje wewnątrztrynitarne, winna kształtować swoje więzi na wzór komunii Osób Boskich. W tym celu potrzebna jest otwartość członków rodziny na spotkanie z Bogiem w modlitwie i Eucharystii, a także w codzienności, rodzina nabiera w ten sposób wymiaru teologalnego. Zawiera się w niej Krzyż oraz Zmartwychwstanie, kontemplacja pełni, która jest w Bogu, oraz doświadczanie ludzkiej ograniczoności. W tym kontekście rodzina, jako Kościół domowy, partycypuje w cnocie nadziei i upatruje swego spełnienia w wieczności. Otwartość na przyjęcie Bożego działania w życiu rodzinnym jest jednocześnie umocnieniem więzi międzyludzkich. Wyraża się to w miłości definitywnej, wyłącznej i osobowej, a osiąga swoją pełnię w miłości płodnej. Znaczącym rysem duchowości rodziny jest ofiarne przyjmowanie nowego życia oraz przyjmowanie i obdarowywanie miłością. Dokonuje się to poprzez słowa i gesty miłości, wzajemną opiekę i wsparcie. Przejawem dojrzałości duchowej rodziny jest jej charakter misyjny i gościnność. Rodzina mocna oddziałuje na otoczenie i przemienia świat w dom, gdzie panuje prawdziwe braterstwo.

The aim of this article is to show pastoral tasks towards the family and marriage resulting from the teaching of the Church in the apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia. Pope Francis focuses on the four main challenges of the pastoral care of the family: preparation for marriage, accompaniment to spouses, especially in the first years after the marriage, the marriage of survivors and difficulties, and the formation of pastors and secular family pastoral workers. The author of this article seeks to illustrate these pastoral tasks in the context of the entire study of the Church about marriage and the family in the modern world.
