Between June and November 1946, the vast majority of German residents of 8 villages in the Vyškov area were expelled to Germany. target stations were München-Allach, Aalen, Regensburg, Karlsruhe and Ulm. Most people settled in the Aalen area in Baden-Württemberk, the second largest centre became the Karlsruhe area and Bretten in Bavaria. With good organization, diligence and hard work of the new settlers, mutual concessions as well as common Catholic religion, the integration of these people worked out. At the same time, many of them tried and still try to preserve the cultural heritage of their homeland. Costumes and photographs have been collected and customs and dialect have been recorded. Many articles have been sent to museums. since 1951, natives have held regular meetings in Aalen, they organize seminars, publish a journal and homeland study publications and organize exhibitions. Dance and costume group represents the Vyškov island in Germany and abroad. After 1989, cooperation with mayors of former German villages in the Vyškov area was initiated and natives support financially a number of projects.

Following the theorists of “entangled” and “dialogical memory” (F. Krawatzek, G. Feindt, A. Assmann, M. Rothberg, etc.), the paper deals with the dialogical/monological character of collective remembrance in new digital media, such as the hypertext Wikipedia. It focuses on the negotiation of the representations of dramatic events of World War II, such as the Munich Agreement or the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia that exceed the national frameworks of remembrance.

The study follows the works of Eagle Glassheim dedicated to the post-war development of the Most region, which resulted in the devastation of the local environment in the 1970s and 1980s. It inquires about how the new regional identity of the settlers was formed in the area of present- -day Lipno, to what extent it was affected by the industrial development of the locality and how it influenced the attitude of the locals to the inhabited landscape. In comparison with Glassheim’s conclusions, the study explains the different consequences of the post-war development of the Lipno region. Despite extensive industrial interventions in the landscape, the region became a popular and sought-after tourist destination. A fundamental role in this development is attributed to water as a natural landscape element with the ability to erase traces of artificial interventions in the landscape, as well as unwanted cultural and historical traces of the original German settlement.

The article deals with the problem of brooding over the history of the Sudetenland in the new Czech literature: novels Grandhotel (2006) by Jaroslav Rudiš, Peníze pro Hitlera (Money for Hitler, 2006) by Radka Denemarková and Habermannův mlýn (Habermann´s mill, 2001) by Josef Urban. Writ-ers, by using inter alia mythologization, fictionalization and narration inspired by real history, are trying to restore the “polyphony of a memory” of the space. In literature on Sudetenland, temporality, continuity and memory significantly form that space, so that they are joined with the spaciality in one, indivisible unity.
