The aim of this article is to present contemporary research and theo­retical positions regarding the sexuality of people with disabilities, which clearly shows that adults with intellectual disabilities have sexual needs and are able to lead relatively satisfactory partner and sexual life. The article also highlights the im­portance of sex education as a priority mission of contemporary special education. The scientific study presents the results of the KEGA No 119UK4/2011 project .

Celem tego artykułu jest przybliżenie współczesnych stanowisk badawczych i teoretycznych dotyczących seksualności osób niepełnosprawnych, z których jasno wynika, iż dorosłe osoby z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną mają seksualne potrzeby i w określonych warunkach są zdolne do prowadzenia względnie zadowalającego partnerskiego i seksualnego życia. W artykule podkreś­lono również wagę edukacji seksualnej, jako priorytetowej misji współczesnej pedagogiki specjalnej. Studium naukowe prezentuje wyniki projektu KEGA nr 119UK 4/2011.
