The goal of the article is to answer the question: what do radio broadcasters in the West understand to be a ‘feature’? A lack of clarity in terminology in this respect was especially visible during the Prix Europa 2012 and 2013 festivals. The article begins with an outline of the term ‘feature’, followed by discussion of relevant festival categories, and ending with a presentation of several selected audio examples that indicate both the characteristics of the genre and cases where, in spite of divergences from these qualities, the term ‘feature’ continues to function.

This article consists of two parts. In the first one, I analyse relations between a reportage and a feature. Differences can be found in the way these notions are defined by scholars in Poland and in Western Europe. Polish radio documentaries are based on authenticity, while in a feature the truth intermingles with fiction. My Lobotomy, by David Isay and Piya Kochhar, serves as an example of a work which presents both authentic characters and some fictional elements. In the second part of the article I focused on the analysis of this American feature. As far as I am concerned, what makes the work most interesting is the relationship between the protagonist’s authentic and spontaneous reactions and the read out narrative sequences.

The article consists of two parts. In the first, I analyse the relations between reportage and the feature. There are differences in the definitions of the two genres, in statements by researchers, and in the Polish and western European understanding of the feature and reportage. The main element in Polish radio documentaries is authenticity, while in the feature truth is mixed with fiction. An example of work with a mix of authentic characters and fiction is My Lobotomy by Dave Isay and Piya Kochher. In second part of the article, I focus on an analysis of this American feature. In my opinion, the most interesting aspect is the relation between the authentic, spontaneous reactions of the main characters and the narrative parts, which are read.

Looking at the various definitions of radio documentary found in academic literature, several common elements can be found which typify the genre. These are: sound as the main constructional element, authentic events constituting the starting point, stress on the aesthetic quality of the relation, the considered authorial concept and its functioning through the medium of radio. In the last two decades, alongside the hitherto functioning and recognised terms applied in relations to radio news reporting, have appeared new ones: the feature; documentary programme/documentary radio broadcast/fictional radio broadcast/docudrama; radionovel; news blogs. In the age of new media, convergent forms have also appeared, among which we should mention: photocasts; multireports; sound maps. This situation means that it’s worth thinking about the hitherto genres, because they seem to be insufficient in the current media situation. Hence, the article presents a proposal for a typology of artistic aural forms. It presents a division based on the channel used to deliver the message, the means of production and governing function.

In the period between the end of World War II and the late 1980s the Polish film industry produced nearly twenty films on the Holocaust which approached the topic within secure lim- its. Those films that were permitted to be shown did not disturb the good feeling of the na- tional community, did not refer to the Polish version of anti-Semitism, and first and foremost avoided the sensitive issue of Polish society’s attitude to the annihilation of the Jews. Each film complied with the then current historical policy, which either treated this issue instru- mentally or simply ignored it. After 1989, both historiography and cinematography began to fill in the blank spots and address topics that were formerly forbidden, taboo or distorted in the official state discourse. Due to the abolishment of political restrictions and the liberation of public discourse, Polish cinematography embarked upon a belated examination of conscience and revision of the memories of the Holocaust cultivated till then. At least it seemed so. Has it actually happened, though? Have Polish filmmakers actually taken the trouble to deconstruct the myths, fill in the gaps and correct the deformed Polish memories of the Holocaust? Even if the answers to these superficial questions are affirmative, at least in terms of their intentions, what has become of it? This paper is an attempt to identify how the memory of the Holocaust has been constructed in Polish feature movies since 1989.

The article in question deals with the linguistic contrastive analysis of the semanticosyntactic structure of Ukrainian and English proverbs. The attention has been focused on the sentence structure including stylistic, functional and semantic overtones. Paroemias are considered as a complicated semantic category which may refl ect the specifi city of perception of the objective reality by the representatives of diff erent ethnos in general and each fragment in particular. In a wide sense a paroemia is an archetype unit that represents ancient culture, traditions and mentality of each nation. The common and diff erent features have been identifi ed according to structure, lexical background and meaning. The most widespread similarities and diff erences have been determined in both languages with the help of structural models.

Artykuł zamyka podkreślenie najistotniejszych różnic pomiędzy reportażem a feature.

The author analyses the presence of a religious factor in selected religious and social features. The analysis objects are texts by Jacek Tacik, Piotr Nestorowicz, Renzo and Robert Allegri, Włodzimierz Kalicki, Krzysztof Kąkolewski, Marcin Wójcika, Wojciech Bojanowski, Magdalena Grochowska, Beata Pawlak, Łukasz Wojtusik and WojciechTochman. In her research the author presents the clash between sacrum and profanum in the Church and overlapping investigative, political, medical, historical and travelling aspects. This text is an attempt to complement feature genres which are commonly used in scientific world by a feature with religious (confessional) subject.

The path presented in the hereby paper "from the definition of a feature (characteristic) to quality management" illustrates the importance of qalimetric stream in influencing the existing status of systemic approach to quality management. One cannot underestimate the significance of presented in the study conclusion following which the criteria for distinguishing what is quantity and quality specific based on measurability are far from contrasting quantity and quality. An important role in this evolution is played by statistical methods and especially these defined as statistical process control. Cracow School of Statistics and, in particular, the concepts by Professor Andrzej Iwasiewicz represent significant achievements in this field.

Kirznera.

Multithreading and complexity of the issues raised in the issues of entrepreneurship meant that it developed a unified theory of entrepreneurship. Literature does not provide the precise definition of „entrepreneurship”. Considerations on enterprise specific person, group of persons or institutions therefore require an interdisciplinary approach, which on the one hand, significantly hinders the development of the theory of entrepreneurship, on the other hand provides the necessary academic diversity of approaches. Lots of definition of entrepreneurship and their constant development, determines the need for a permanent classification and systematization. Without this it is difficult to interpret the complexity and multi-threading problems. For the systematization can be assumed that modern-examining of research in economics and management for the enterprise, refer to the three main trends associated with the views of F. Knight, J. Schumpeter and I.M. Kirzner.
