In the paper a problem of individual factors which can hamper or facilitate the studying of foreign language has been brought up. Individual abilities were examined within six areas. These are as follows: 1. intelligence and linguistic abilities, 2. personality type, temperament type, 3. thinking styles and cognitive styles, 4. communication strategies, 5. foreign language studying motives, and 6. behaviours related to overcoming difficulties during foreign language classes. The results of examinations carried out among modern philology [modern languages] students showed a dependence of language education on particular personal-individual features.

W artykule omówiono właściwości indywidualne utrudniające i ułatwiające osiąganie sukcesu glottodydaktycznego. Zastosowanie metody analizy międzygrupowej umożliwiło charakterystykę czynników uwypuklających różnice indywidualne pomiędzy studentami wyróżniającymi się i dostatecznymi. Sygnalizowanych różnic doszukiwano się w określonych predyspozycjach: umysłowych, poznawczych, osobowościowych, motywacyjnych, a także w zachowaniach związanych z przezwyciężaniem trudności na zajęciach. Przeprowadzone badania dowiodły, iż różnice między wskazanymi grupami studentów odnoszą się do predyspozycji w zakresie: 1) inteligencji i zdolności językowych, 2) typu temperamentu i typu osobowości, 3) stylów myślenia, stylów poznawczych i strategii użycia języka, 4) sfery motywacyjnej, 5) sposobów radzenia sobie ze stresem.

Artykuł został poświęcony wielojęzyczności osób pochodzenia ukraińskiego studiujących filologię germańską w Polsce. Przedstawiono wyniki badania pilotażowego dotyczącego doświadczeń studentów związanych z wychowaniem wielojęzycznym. Wypowiedzi respondentów zebrane w indywidualnych wywiadach pogłębionych ukazują subiektywne postrzeganie własnych biografii językowych. Wychowanie w kierunku wielojęzyczności respondentów rozpoczęło się od wczesnej dwujęzyczności ukraińsko-rosyjskiej wynikającej z dorastania w dwujęzycznym środowisku Ukrainy. Na rozwój kompetencji wielojęzycznej duży wpływ miało również środowisko rodzinne. Badanie wykazało, iż wczesne doświadczenia z dwujęzycznością, otwartość na języki obce w rodzinie oraz wsparcie rodziców przy nauce kolejnych języków obcych, mogą pozytywnie wpływać na wychowanie w kierunku wielojęzyczności.

The article discusses the multilingualism of students with Ukrainian background who study German philology in Poland. It presents results of a pilot study on students’ experiences with multilingual education. The respondents’ statements, collected in in-depth interviews, reveal subjective perceptions of their own language biographies. Their education towards multilingualism began with an early Ukrainian-Russian bilingualism since they were raised in a bilingual environment in Ukraine. Moreover, the development of multilingual competence was largely influenced by their family environment. It can be concluded that early experiences with bilingualism, openness to languages in the family and parental support in learning other foreign languages can positively influence education towards multilingualism.

Der Beitrag widmet sich der Mehrsprachigkeit von Personen ukrainischer Herkunft, die in Polen Germanistik studieren. Es werden Ergebnisse einer Pilotstudie zu Erfahrungen Studierender mit mehrsprachiger Erziehung vorgestellt. Die in Tiefinterviews erhobenen Aussagen der Befragten zeigen ihre subjektive Wahrnehmung der eigenen Sprachbiografie. Die Erziehung zur Mehrsprachigkeit begann bei den Befragten mit einer frühen ukrainisch-russischen Zweisprachigkeit, da sie in der Ukraine in einem zweisprachigen Umfeld aufgewachsen sind. Zudem wurde die Entwicklung der mehrsprachigen Kompetenz weitgehend durch das familiäre Umfeld beeinflusst. Es lässt sich feststellen, dass frühe Erfahrungen mit Zweisprachigkeit, Offenheit für Sprachen in der Familie und elterliche Unterstützung beim Erlernen weiterer Fremdsprachen die Erziehung zur Mehrsprachigkeit positiv beeinflussen können.

The present article is devoted to the consideration of a current and extremely popular in both the United States and Europe subject: "creative writing". Researchers say that if the ability to think and write creatively was developed in the native tongue, the learner should not have any problem with the transfer of this ability onto a foreign language. Creative writing is not only a perfect way of mastering foreign languages, but it is also great fun and even a therapy. In the article there have been suggested exercises which develop imagination, creativity as well as ready tasks of "creative writing".
