This article presents the structure of the European classification (taxonomy) skills/competences, qualifications and professions, functioning under the acronym: ESCO (European Skills/Competences, Qualifications and Occupations Taxonomy). Shows the ability to apply this classification in labour market institutions and the education system institutions, its advantages from the point of view of creating a European labour market and a common area of continuing education and requires an underscore – to ESCO with the establishment and operation of a market descriptions about of the professions.

W artykule zaprezentowano konstrukcję europejskiej klasyfikacji (taksonomii) umiejętności/kompetencji, kwalifikacji i zawodów, funkcjonującej pod akronimem ESCO (European Skills/Competences, Qualifications and Occupations Taxonomy). Ukazano możliwości zastosowania tej klasyfikacji w instytucjach rynku pracy i systemu edukacji, jej walory z punktu widzenia tworzenia europejskiego rynku pracy i wspólnego obszaru kształcenia ustawicznego oraz – co wymaga podkreślenia – powiązanie klasyfikacji ESCO z tworzeniem i funkcjonowaniem na rynku opisów informacji o zawodach.
