This article presents the role and meaning of language and interpersonal communication. The author describes three aspects of language: physical, physiological and psychological/ social, and outlines three functions of language and the ways in which these functions are applied in various aspects of cognition. The author also makes several notes criticising publications whose content differs from the actual state of a given language – in this case German.

On official texts in Slavic dialects in the County of Korcha, South Eastern AlbaniaIn the article I consider official texts in Slavic dialects in Albania. Three texts are taken as examples: “An Internal Handbook for Organising the Work of a Regional Committee at a District/Prefecture Level of MAEI [Macedonian Alliance for European Integration]” (2009), a letter written by the villagers of Boboshtica to the Bulgarian Exarch (1873), and The “Charter of the Society of Kaynas” (2006). They make use of language in its symbolic function – the way these texts are written is almost as important as what exactly is written. These texts have been created to showcase the language and to underline its uniqueness against the background of another language or idiom, or, to put it another way, to underline through the language the special status of the people that use it. Oficjalne teksty w słowiańskich dialektach okolic Korczy w południowo-wschodniej AlbaniiArtykuł omawia oficjalne teksty powstałe w słowiańskich dialektach Albanii. Wybrano przykładowo trzy teksty: Wewnętrzne wytyczne w sprawie organizacji pracy komitetu MAEI na poziomie okręgu/prefektury (2009), list mieszkańców Boboszticy do bułgarskiego egzarchy (1873) i Statut towarzystwa „Kajnas” (2006). Te trzy teksty posługują się językiem w sposób symboliczny. To, w jakiej odmianie języka są napisane, jest równie ważne, jak ich treść. Teksty te powstały bądź po to, aby pokazać język i podkreślić jego unikalność na tle innego języka, lub po to, aby poprzez język podkreślić szczególny status ludzi, którzy się nim posługują.

In the article, medical terminology in the modern Slavic languages is examined on the basis of mass-media resources. Based on Ukrainian, Russian, Belarussian and Polish media the stylistic functions of medical terminology and their functional role in modern informative space are analyzed. The language material gives an opportunity to explain the feature of secondary nomination of terms and also to analyze the stylistic transformations of medical terms in the Slavic mass-media texts. Special attention is paid to the semantic process of determinologization, due to which the medical terms can have different functions. It is well-proven, that media communication is a productive context for the functioning of medical terminology that envisages the achievement of the effect of predictability, influence on the recipient and designing of emotionally- expressive estimation of the information. Analyzing modern mass-media in Ukraine, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Poland, it is possible to make a conclusion about the prospects of media terminological transformation for the modern dynamic processes of evolution of Slavic literary languages.

Language differentiation is an unquestionable fact, nonetheless its magnitude is not. The causes of the divergence are twofold: the first rests in our paucity of knowledge about the large number of languages; the other derives from the fact that there are no clear-cut linguistic criteria to differentiate between an individual language and a dialect of a language. Out of controversies within the status of such and similar tools of social communication rose the popularity of the concept and term of ethnolect. That languages are differentiated across the world can be approached from two points of view: a practical and communicative one (that can be the position held by communication engineering) and an anthropocultural one.

The main goal of this paper is to indicate the significance of the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach in teaching English conversation. The first issue presented in this article is to explain the essence of conversation. Afterward, there is a demonstration of major distinctive features assigned to the CLT approach, functions of language and four categories of communicative competence. The following point is dedicated to learner’s and teacher’s roles determined by the CLT approach and a brief mention concerning three types of materials which enhance communicative capacity. Furthermore, there is a presentation and description of principles used for designing techniques including a checklist of microskills. On top of that, various categories and types of oral production are put forward. The last part of the article contains examples of exercises.

Głównym celem tego artykułu jest wskazanie znaczenia podejścia komunikacyjnego CLT w nauczaniu konwersacji w języku angielskim. Pierwszą kwestią przedstawioną w tym artykule jest wyjaśnienie pojęcia konwersacji oraz ukazanie jej kwintesencji. Następnie zaprezentowano główne założenia przypisane podejściu komunikacyjnemu CLT, funkcje językowe i cztery kategorie kompetencji komunikacyjnej. Kolejny punkt stanowi opis ról przypisanych uczniom i nauczycielom w obrębie podejścia komunikacyjnego CLT oraz krótka wzmianka o trzech rodzajach materiałów, które zwiększają zdolności komunikacyjne. Ponadto, zaprezentowano i opisano zasady stosowane w projektowaniu technik, w tym listę mikro umiejętności. W dalszej części artykułu zaproponowane zostały różne kategorie i rodzaje aktywności werbalnej. Ostatnia część artykułu zawiera przykłady ćwiczeń

The aim of the article is to present syntax delimitation as a way to use the „Hollywood” brand on a chosen movie poster and to investigate the purpose of such syntactic measure. The conducted interdisciplinary analysis divides the message on the poster into an information segment and a graphic/artistic segment, presenting the internal content koherence throughout the entire poster. To determine the implicatures which reveal the message of the poster as a multimodal communication, one needs to refer to several semiotics systems and to various theoretical concepts. In the result of the conducted analysis one can formulate an answer to the question about the purpose of changing the official movie title on the marketing materials, at the same time revealing the usefulness of multiperspective semiotic research.

Przedmiotem artykułu jest ukazanie użycia delimitacji składniowej jako sposobu wykorzystania marki „Hollywood” na wybranym plakacie filmowym oraz zbadanie celowości takiego zabiegu syntaktycznego. Przeprowadzona interdyscyplinarna analiza dzieli komunikat zawarty w plakacie na część informacyjną i graficzną/artystyczną, ukazując jednocześnie wewnętrzną spójność treści zawartych w całym plakacie. Ustalenie implikatur ujawniających treść plakatu jako multimodalnego komunikatu wymaga odwołania się do kilku systemów semiotycznych i odniesień do różnych pojęć teoretycznych. Studium obejmuje warstwę graficzną, leksykalną , a także kontekst kulturowy. W rezultacie przeprowadzonych analiz można sformułować odpowiedź na pytanie o celowość zmiany oficjalnego tytułu filmu w stosunku do materiałów promocyjnych, ukazując jednocześnie przydatność wieloaspektowych badań semiotycznych.
