Organizmy te, by skutecznie skolonizować nowe środowisko oprócz żywotnych propagul i skutecznych mechanizmów transportu muszą być zdolne do wzrostu i reprodukcji w ekstremalnych warunkach.

Filamentous fungi relatively easily disperse and colonize a variety of substrates, inhabiting various, often extreme environments. Therefore, they spread all over the world. The purpose of the research was to determine whether the propagules of filamentous fungi brought (accidentally transported) into the Antarctic biome by tourists and members of scientific expeditions are capable of developing at low temperatures. In the studies were used seven isolates of fungi: Penicillium sp., Aspergillus flavus, Alternaria alternata, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Trichoderma viride, Geotrichum candidum and Botrytis cinerea. The isolates came from samples collected from tourists and members of scientific expeditions arriving at the Henryk Arctowski Polish Antarctic Station on King George Island in the South Shetland archipelago. Fungal growth was measured at 0, 5, 10, 22°C (as a control) and 10° C, but after having frozen inoculum at -15°C for a period of 7 days. Penicillium sp., Alternaria alternata, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Trichoderma viride, Geotrichum candidum and Botrytis cinerea were found to be capable of growing at low temperatures (5 and 10oC as well as after one freezing cycle, down to -15oC and thawing, up to +10oC). They did not produce a macroscopically visible mycelium at temp. 0oC, however, it was not a lethal temperature for them, as when they were transferred to higher temperatures, they continued to develop even after a fairly long time following the beginning of the experiment. The most vulnerable was Aspergillus flavus. At lower temperatures (from about to 5oC) it did not develop, while freezing and thawing were lethal for this species. Some species (G. candidum, T. viride and B. cinerea), despite the development of mycelium, did not produce spores at lower temperatures.
Microfungi relatively easily disperse and colonize a variety of substrates, withstanding various, often extreme environments. Therefore, they spread all over the world. The aim of this study was to determine whether propagules of fungi accidentally transported to biome of Antarctica were able to grow at low temperatures. In the studies were used seven isolates of fungi: Penicillium sp., Aspergillus flavus, Alternaria alternata, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Trichoderma viride, Geotrichum candidum and Botrytis cinerea. The isolates came from dust samples collected from tourists and members of scientific expeditions (their clothes, shoes and equipment) arriving at the station H. Arctowski on King George Island in the South Shetland archipelago. Fungal growth was measured at 0, 5, 10, 22°C (as a control) and 10°C, but after having frozen inoculum at -15°C for a period of 7 days. All tested species of fungi did not grow at the temperature of 0°C. A. flavus was the only one not grow at a temperature of 5°C. A. flavus and G. candidum haven’t also grown after a temporary freeze of inoculum. Fungi, which did not grow at a temperature of 0°C after moving to higher temperatures resumed their growth. Of the two species that did not grow after freezing, i.e. G. candidum and A. flavus, only the first resumed its growth at 22°C. Sporulation of the studied fungi in most cases was most abundant at 22°C. Some species (G. candidum, T. viride and B. cinerea) did not produce spores at lower temperatures.

This study addresses the assessment of the legal model of protection against invasive plant species. Invasive alien species are one of the main risks to biodiversity and related ecosystem services. The threat to biodiversity and related ecosystem services posed by invasive alien species takes various forms. Moreover, invasive alien species have a significant impact on native species and on the structure and function of the ecosystem. There is a very low awareness of this phenomenon in Poland and worldwide. Therefore, legal instruments and appropriate knowledge are the basic elements of building a strategy for dealing with invasive alien species.

Niniejsze opracowanie dotyczy oceny modelu prawnej ochrony przed inwazyjnymi gatunkami roślin.
Mid-field shelterbelts play a key role in shaping the agricultural landscape, and also reduce the negative impact of climate change on the environment. The aim of created new tree stands is, among others, agri-environmental programs. Establishing field trees is a difficult task that requires a lot of knowledge and experience. When designing the species composition of trees, one should avoid invasive alien species. The aim of this article is to explain the reasons why invasive species should not be used in planting and afforestation, using the example of the black cherry. The black cherry is competitive in relation to native species of trees and shrubs, but also to herbaceous plants. Due to the high and annual capacity for abundant fruiting of the black cherry and its functional features (e.g. honey yield), it is still widely produced as ornamental and planting material in commercial nurseries. We do not recommend this species for planting in wooded and afforested areas. Where possible, we suggest introducing native black cherry or other native species of trees and shrubs that can successfully replace an unwanted stranger from overseas.
