The article discusses the problem of given names of Jews who lived in Bydgoszcz between 1920 and 1939. The diaspora counted at most two thousand (about 1,5% of the total population) and, apart from Poznań, it was the largest concentration of Jews in the Poznań voivodeship. The data was extracted from a list of contribution payers of the Jewish religious community from 1939. The current paper continues the research started in my previous article (Jaracz 2007) (‘Last names of Bydgoszcz Jews in the context of the Polish anthroponymic system’).

The study is focused on motivations applied in naming children in the Ústí nad Orlicí district at two groups of parental population. In the first group there are parents whose children were born in the period of 1960–1975 and the second group is formed by parents with children born in 2000–2012. The data from the parents were gathered using questionnaires. These two groups are compared from various points of view – used names, linguistics factors (length, sound aspects of names, relation of the given name to the family name, hypocoristics etc.) and other factors (family tradition, religion, education etc.). Also differences in the approach to male and female names are followed.

Family Names Derived from Given Names and Surnames: A Study of Selected Anthroponyms in the Villages of Antonivka and Boryskovychi in the Early to Mid-Twentieth CenturyThis article analyses the origins of family names and the duration of their functioning in rural anthroponymics on the basis of the anthroponymy of the south of the Volyn region in the early to mid-twentieth century. The study examines the semantic and word-formation structure of anthroponyms in the area, identifies lexico-semantic groups represented in the roots of family names, and considers different structural variants of the given names and surnames from which family names were derived, including their productivity and the most frequent cases. The semantics of roots and the word-formation structure of family names in the south of the Volyn region reflect general tendencies of the Ukrainian anthroponymic system and tendencies of the regional anthroponomy, which stem from dialectal features, influences of other languages, and historical and cultural peculiarities of the region. Nazwy rodowe pochodzące od imion i nazwisk pierwszych użytkowników (na podstawie wybranych antroponimów wsi Antonówka i Boryskowicze z początku i połowy XX wieku)W artykule przeanalizowano problem pochodzenia nazw rodowych oraz czasu ich funkcjonowania w antroponimikonie wiejskim (na podstawie antroponimów na południu obwodu wołyńskiego z początku i połowy XX wieku). Autorka analizuje strukturę semantyczną i słowotwórczą antroponimów w tym regionie, przedstawia grupy leksykalno-semantyczne reprezentowane w podstawach nazw rodowych, omawia różne pod względem strukturalnym warianty imion i nazwisk motywujące nazwy rodowe. W artykule określono produktywność imion motywujących nazwy rodowe i zidentyfikowano najbardziej aktywne imiona. Semantyka podstaw i struktura słowotwórcza nazw rodowych z południa obwodu wołyńskiego odzwierciedlają ogólne tendencje ukraińskiego systemu antroponimicznego, a także cechy regionalne antroponimii wynikające z właściwości gwarowych, wpływów innych języków oraz cech historycznych, kulturowych i obyczajowych regionu.

The article relates to male names of the subjects in the grounds of the Camaldolese monks from the Lake Wigry area.. The names originate from the manuscript called Inwentarz Ogólny Dóbr Funduszowych Klasztoru Wygerskiego Xięży Kamaldulow przed Generalną Komissyą J.K.Mśi y Rzeczpospolitej sporządzony. Roku 1745. The subjects of the Camaldolese monastery had primarily Christian names. Among Slavic names it is possible to mention only the most popular ones that refer to Roman Catholic Church Saints such as: Stanisław and Wojciech, and names (1971 M. Malec. Budowa morfologiczna staropolskich złożonych imion osobowych Stanisława Zbijowska,Janina Zbinowska, Wrocław.) given in royal families: Kazmierz and Bolesław. However, there is an exception of a Slavic name written in a shortened form Chwaluk, derived by the suffix –uk from the names of the type of Chwalisław. There are 69 male names mentioned in the document. The most popular ones are: Jan, Andrzej, Michał, Maciej, Szymon/Siemion, Chwiodor, Jakub,Paweł, Stefan, Marcin, Bazyli / Wasyl, Grzegorz / Hryhor, Franciszek, Józef, Aleksiej/Oleksiej,Mateusz and Wojciech.

The paper examines the given names of people born in Nakło (south-east Krajna region) between 1874 and 1875. The anthroponymic material was extracted from the records of the Civil Registry Office of Nakło Miasto. The sources mentioned were written in German. In this paper, proper names of Catholics, Evangelic and Jewish people are analysed, with special focus on their etymology, frequency, and polyonymy. The aim is to show the similarities and differences in the anthroponymy of these groups. The analysis has shown that each religious group in Nakło in the 1870s, despite common onomasticon, established its own anthroponymic system.

Przedmiotem artykułu są imiona osób urodzonych w Nakle (południowo-wschodnia Krajna) w latach 1874–1875. Materiał antroponimiczny został wyekscerpowany z akt Urzędu Stanu Cywilnego Nakło Miasto, prowadzonych w języku niemieckim. Analizie uwzględniającej etymologię i częstotliwość antroponimów, a także wieloimienność poddano imiona katolików, ewangelików i żydów. Ukazano podobieństwa i różnice w antroponimii wymienionych grup. Przeprowadzona analiza dowodzi, iż każda grupa wyznaniowa w Nakle w latach 70. XIX wieku, mimo iż czerpała ze wspólnego zasobu imienniczego, rozwinęła swój własny system antroponimiczny.
