Celem artykułu jest prześledzenie działalności i roli, jaką odgrywa Rada Stabilności Finansowej (ang. Financial Stability Board – FSB) w międzynarodowym środowisku finansowym. W pierwszej kolejności omówione zostaną takie zagadnienia, jak istota pojęcia globalnej architektury finansowej, zrozumienie której ułatwi dalsze rozważania na temat znaczenia Rady Stabilności Finansowej. Następnie przedstawiona zostanie geneza powstania i ewolucja instytucji jaką jest FSB, poprzedzona krótką charakterystyką instytucji, które ją tworzyły, czyli Grup G7/G8 oraz G20. W kolejnym kroku analizie zostanie poddane funkcjonowanie i struktura FSB. Tutaj poruszone zostaną m.in. kwestie członkostwa i reprezentacji, narzędzi i metod działania, a także skuteczności w implementacji podjętych zobowiązań. Na koniec zaprezentowana zostanie krytyczna analiza roli tej instytucji w globalnej architekturze finansowej oraz znaczenie współpracy FSB z innymi światowymi instytucjami finansowymi, szczególnie z Międzynarodowym Funduszem Walutowym.

The article herein presented aims to investigate the activities and role of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in the international financial environment. In the first place, it examines the essence of the global financial architecture concept, understanding of which will enhance further discourse on the meaning of the FSB. The paper then proceeds to discuss the genesis and evolution of the Financial Stability Board, which is preceded by a brief characterization of the institutions that created it, namely the G7/G8 and G20. In the next step the functioning and structure of the FSB are subjected to analysis. Here, the following topics are addressed: membership and representation, tools and methods of operation, as well as effectiveness in the implementation of commitments. Finally, critical analysis of the role of this institution in the global financial architecture and the importance of its cooperation with other world financial institutions, particularly with the International Monetary Fund, are presented.
