Internet jest jednym z najnowocześniejszych i powszechnie stosowanych mediów informacyjnych, komunikacyjnych i edukacyjnych. Jest on jednak zróżnicowany pod względem zawartości, dlatego pojawiają się pytania o granice autonomii działań użytkowników sieci, a także o możliwości tolerowania i akceptowania tego, co oferuje wirtualna rzeczywistość. Odpowiedź na nie wymaga określenia, co leży u podstaw stosunku człowieka do siebie, innych ludzi i świata – zarówno tego wirtualnego, jak i rzeczywistego.

The Internet is one of the most technically advanced and commonly used information, communication and education media. Nevertheless, it has greatly diversified content and for this reason there arise questions concerning the restrictions of the Internet users’ activities, as well as the tolerance and acceptance of what is offered by the virtual reality. The answers to the above issues need to define what lies at the basis of human being’ attitude to himself, to other people and the whole world – both virtual and the real one.
