The aim of the study is to provide an overview of higher education students’ volunteering and voluntary group membership based on a database (N=2,199), in which full-time students from five Central-Eastern European countries (Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, and Ukraine) were questioned. We analyzed as well, which variables influence civic engagement. Based on the results we suggest that universities in Central-Eastern European regions should make more use of students’ potential in the field of volunteering and organizational membership, and should do so in an organized way, with special attention to the groups, which display low civic participation according to our research findings.

Tato longitudinální studie zkoumá rozhodování při kariérové volbě u žáků gymnázia ve Švýcarsku a jejich setrvání u netradiční kariérová volby během přechodu na vysokou školu. Longitudinální šetření mělo charakter smíšeného designu, sběr dal byl realizován prostřednictvím dotazníků (n = 1460) a rozhovorů (n = 24) se žáky g ymnázií a později studenty vysokých škol. Výsledky kvantitativní analýz y ukazují vysokou míru setrvání u dané volby u žen, které si hodlaly zvolit přírodovědně-technický obor, i mužů s úmyslem stát se učiteli. Zjištění kvalitativní analýz y ukazují, že ženy se odvolávaly na vnitřní motivaci a zájem o přírodní vědy, zatímco muži zdůrazňovali význam vzorů a vnější motivace, související zejména s jistotou pracovního místa. Jako rozhodující faktory volby vyvstávají rané zkušenosti se školou, podpora rodičů a učitelů, jakož i vzory, zatímco genderová tematika a úvahy s tím související nejsou respondenty považovány za důležité.

The purpose of this article is to present opportunities for research which show the common ground between tourism and physical culture using approaches and methods worked out and applied in economics. Attention has been concentrated on the category of ‘product’, treated here as a theoretical concept by means of which it is possible to present a structure of tourism trip. This will include the part that refers to those values and human activities related to physical culture. An attempt to identify the social perception of the attributes that describe a tourism trip was made by an empirical study using conjoint analysis on students in higher education in Kraków. The results show that those who participate in tourism enriched by physical activity, prefer trips saturated with attributes such as the required level of courage, the testing of psychological and physical abilities, rivalry with others or nature, an element of adventure, a high level of physical activity, access to sports and leisure facilities, and contact with nature. But at the same time they prefer a low level of risk to health or life. It was noted, however, that related to the latter female and male preferences vary.

The study aimed to analyse changes in school belonging in higher education students during online instruction and to verify its cross-sectional and longitudinal relationships with academic adjustment in the first and higher years of study. The research sample consisted of 169 higher education students (90.5% women, M = 21.71; SD = 2.63) in the first measurement (end of the winter term), and 77 respondents (96% women, M = 21.38; SD = 2.03) in the second measurement (end of the summer term). Self-report methods were used. Results showed a decline in school belonging among first-year students. School belonging significantly predicted academic adjustment, and the relationship with internal motivation persisted even four months later. The findings support the key role and need for facilitating school belonging in higher education students in the online environment.
