The goal of the study was to show the ways and effects of young women’s activities aimed to improve their image, resulting in the achievement of an ideal figure. 180 young women were interviewedusing the Survey Questionnaire. The obtained data showed difficulties in an objective assessment of the image of one’s own body. The undertaken corrective measures were usually ineffective hence the women investigated became “trapped by an almost obsession” of their own making, aimed to modify their body.

Celem badań było ukazanie sposobów i skutków działań młodych kobiet zmierzających do poprawy własnego wizerunku, prowadzącego do osiągnięcia idealnych kształtów. Badaniem za pomocą Kwestionariusza Ankiety poddano 180 młodych kobiet. Uzyskane dane wskazały na trudności w obiektywnej ocenie obrazu własnego ciała. Podejmowane działania o charakterze korekcyjnym najczęściej były nieskuteczne, stąd badane kobiety zaplątały się we własne wypracowane przez siebie „szpony niemalże opętania”, zmierzające do modyfikacji ciała.
