Masturbation is still a controversial issue among researchers. A historical view, presented in this article, provides us with a wide range of interesting facts concerning its assessment from a medical, philosophical and religious perspective. Similarly, modern psychology, pedagogy and other disciplines dealing with mankind try to perceive masturbation in a wider, anthropological context. Therefore, moral assessment of masturbation has to based on a comprehensive approach to a man, because only in such perspective one can form justifiable judgments on such delicate matters. Catholic Church explicitly expressed its opinion on moral assessment of masturbation in a range of documents issued by the Teaching Office of the Church.

Artykuł stanowi teoretyczne poszukiwania źródeł niedojrzałości na podstawie studiów literaturowych. Krótko odwołuję się w nim do ram rzeczywistości ponowoczesnej i przechodzę do początków niedojrzałości, które w opinii badaczy znajdują swoje korzenie w okresie mitycznym. Inspirujące stają się tutaj odwołania do psychologii analitycznej Carla Gustawa Junga oraz Marie-Louise von Franz. Wreszcie, ukierunkowanie na dobę obecną, w której idee niedojrzałości zdają się osiągać apogeum, chociaż ich przyczyny wyrastają z zupełnie innych potrzeb człowieka. Moim celem jest krótki rys niedojrzałości, ukazanie wędrówki od mistycznego Hermesa do współczesnego Piotrusia Pana.

The article constitutes the theoretical search of sources of the immaturity based on literature studies. Briefly I am appealing in it to frames of post-modern reality and I am proceeding to basics of the immaturity which in the opinion of researchers their roots are finding in the mythical period. Here cancellations of the analytical psychology of Carl Gustav Jung and Marie-Louise von Franz are becoming inspiring. Finally, directing a day current, which ideas of the immaturity seem to achieve apogee, though their causes in are growing out of completely different needs of the man. A short trait of the immaturity is my purpose, portraying the walk from mystical Hermes to the contemporary Peter Pan.

The article presents an analysis of puberty, one of the key aspects of Jakub Żulczyk’s debut novel Zrób mi jakąś krzywdę… (2006). At the same time, he presents potential analogies with the interwar volume of Witold Gombrowicz’s Pamiętnik z okresu dojrzewania (1933), whose characters try in various ways to “grow up” to the surrounding Forms. In Żulczyk’s writings, there is something immature in almost every created character, regardless of the age or experience. The best example of this is a pair of main characters: the twenty-five-year-old David and his kidnapped teenager, a brilliant, alienated girl, locked in the world of video games. During the initiation journey, under the influence of various factors, each of them undergoes a metamorphosis, maturing, slowly crossing the boundaries of childhood. Żulczyk collides various contemporary types of immaturity, at the same time provoking the question about the condition of adulthood in today’s world.

Artykuł przynosi analizę jednego z kluczowych aspektów debiutanckiej powieści Jakuba Żulczyka Zrób mi jakąś krzywdę… (2006), jakim jest dojrzewanie. Równocześnie prezentuje potencjalne analogie z międzywojennym tomem opowiadań Witolda Gombrowicza Pamiętnik z okresu dojrzewania (1933), którego bohaterowie na różne sposoby starają się „dorosnąć” do otaczających ich Form. U Żulczyka niemal w każdej wykreowanej postaci jest coś niedojrzałego, bez względu na wiek metrykalny czy doświadczenie. Najlepszym tego przykładem jest para głównych bohaterów: dwudziestopięcioletni Dawid i porwana przez niego nastolatka, genialna, wyalienowana dziewczyna, zamknięta w świecie gier video. W trakcie podróży inicjacyjnej pod wpływem różnych czynników każde z nich przechodzi metamorfozę, dojrzewa, powoli przekraczając granice dzieciństwa. Żulczyk zderza przy tym różne współczesne typy niedojrzałości, równocześnie prowokując pytanie o kondycję dorosłości w dzisiejszym świecie.
