The paper presents stochastic modelling of a single server, finite buffer Markovian queueing system with discouraged arrivals, baulking, reneging, and retention of reneged customers. The Markov process is used to derive the steady-state solution of the model. Closed-form expressions using probability generating functions (PGFs) are derived and presented for both classical and novel performance measures. In addition, a sensitivity analysis is carried out to study the effect of the system parameters on performance measures. A numerical problem is also presented to demonstrate the derived results and some design aspects.

Artykuł podejmuje filologiczno-teologiczną analizę Psalmu 13. Badając poszczególne jego strofy (I: „Pytania i lament” /w. 2–3/; II: „Wołanie o pomoc” /w. 4–5/; III: „Wyznanie ufności i wdzięczności” /w. 6/), autor przeprowadził studium egzystencjalno-duchowych zmagań psalmisty. Kluczową rolę w interpretacji tego utworu pełni zaufanie, jakie orant pokładał w Bogu. Pomimo zniecierpliwienia psalmisty, wywołanego długotrwałym milczeniem Boga wobec próśb, jakie do Niego kierował, nie przestał Mu ufać, jakby wyczuwał, że rezygnując z nadziei – najpożywniejszego owocu wiary w Boga – pozostanie tylko rozpacz.

The article makes philological-theological analyses of Psalm 13. Reviewing its each stanza (I: “Question and lament” /v 2–3/; II: “Calling for help” /v 4–5/; III: “Confession of thrust and gratitude” /v 6/) gave the possibility to study the existential-spiritual psalmist’s struggle. The trust that orans has placed in God performs the key role in the interpretation of the work. Despite the psalmist’s impatience caused by long God’s silence to answer the requests he has directed to Him, he did not stop to trust Him. He just might feel that resigning from hope which is the most nourishing fruit of faith in God one allows to stay in despair.

In the recent years, excessive consumption is presented more and more often as one of the main changes in Polish society affecting significantly financial behaviours. Paying too much attention to present time, preferring current consumption make negative influence on savings. While concentrating on felt “losses” resulting from consumption postponement in time, the individuals underestimate benefits connected with saving. Facing the observed changes in financial behaviours, the aim of the contribution is to show the impatience as the essential feature influencing negatively the saving process.

Na przestrzeni ostatnich lat jako jedną z głównych przemian w społeczeństwie polskim, wpływających w istotny sposób na zachowania finansowe, coraz częściej wskazuje się nadmierny konsumpcjonizm. Przykładanie zbyt wysokiego poziomu uwagi do teraźniejszości i preferowanie konsumpcji bieżącej wywiera niekorzystny wpływ na oszczędzanie. Koncentrując się na odczuwanych „stratach”, wynikających z odroczenia konsumpcji w czasie, jednostki nie doceniają korzyści związanych z gromadzeniem oszczędności. W obliczu zaobserwowanych zmian w zachowaniach finansowych celem niniejszego artykułu stało się ukazanie niecierpliwości jako istotnej cechy wywierającej negatywny wpływ na oszczędzanie.
