In the era of the market economy, quality has become one of the most basic categories determining an organisation’s level of competitiveness. The complex, turbulent and demanding environment makes it necessary to adapt appropriately, while to restructure an organisation it is necessary to improve it systematically and to promote its adaptation to changes. The aim of the article is to show the process of creating pro-qualitative management at an organisation, which should be perceived as a determinant of the permanent success of an organisation understood as its ability to develop effective and efficient responses to identified needs and expectations that arise in its environment over the long term.

„Quality is not everything but everything is nothing without quality”. The famous quotation from K. Ishikawa brings to our attention the fact that nowadays quality is one of strategic concepts from the point of view of functioning of companies, especially production-oriented ones. The lack of quality often eliminates a product from the basket of potential further choices. That means that quality is a prerequisite in the contemporary, highly competitive and saturated market. In order to ensure quality, enterprises introduce various concepts and methods to support quality management. They include, among others, the kaizen philosophy, which allows to minimize unnecessary actions (losses). It is especially recommended to small firms as an inexpensive method assuring high quality of products because they are constantly improved, which, in turn, guarantees maintaining a high position among competitors. This article aims to introduce the concept of kaizen by describing how it works and considering whether it can be successful in Polish companies.

The article presents identification of problems during the implementation of Lean concept in small and medium-sized enterprises in Poland. Although the Lean methodology is recognized all over the world as one of the best and most effective ways to improve the functioning of enterprises, in Polish conditions exist serious problems with its implementation. Development of small and medium-sized enterprises is regarded as one of the measures of economic growth and a sign of healthy competition. The needs of the economy and the limited resources characterizing this enterprise sector imply the need to adjust its capacities to the requirements of the turbulent environment. In the analysis of problems there were used the results of questionnaire surveys conducted among representatives of the companies participating in the largest Lean conference in Central Europe.

The paper deals with the ethics of biotechnological enhancement of human qualities such as intelligence, health and lifespan. In contemporary bioethics three views have emerged concerning the moral permissibility of such a biotechnological enhancement of humans. While bioconservatives reject it as morally impermissible and dangerous, bioradicals welcome it as permissible and desirable. Between these two extremes we find bioliberals who admit some types of enhancement, under certain conditions. These debates are still overshadowed by fear of bioethics, but this discredited term needs to be rehabilitated because it turns out that there are both desirable and undesirable forms of eugenics.

The purpose of this article is to present how internal auditors in the public and private sectors define ongoing monitoring of internal audit activities. The empirical material for analysis was gathered from interviews conducted in Poland with 28 internal auditors employed in 30 organisations. The gathered data revealed many similarities and differences between internal auditors’ perception of the essence of this term. The results show that ongoing monitoring of internal audit activities is most often understood as supervising internal auditor by the CAE to ensure that an audit engagement is performed in accordance with the International Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, the objectives of the engagement are reached, and the work program is realized.

It is expected that people from all over the world will visit Ukraine after its victory in the war against Russian aggression, turning Ukraine into a world-popular tourist destination. Hence, Ukrainian egislation on tourism must be improved in the post-war period. The authors analysed the current legislation on tourism in Ukraine and identified major problems that must be addressed systematically and those that should be settled in the post-war period in view of the post-war humanitarian, socio-economic, institutional, and cultural challenges. In this context, the authors proposed a set of changes to improve Ukraine’s legislation on tourism on the national and institutional levels. Such changes should positively impact other socio-economic processes of reconstruction in post-war Ukraine.

The main objective of this paper is to present and analyse the findings of research which aims to measure the services that a locally-based SME (Small-Medium Enterprise) campus store of a farm school provides to its customers. The examined start-up store is operated by the College students in the context of their entrepreneurship, business and marketing classes. After one year of operation students decided to evaluate the quality of the store’s services and measure the customers’ satisfaction by applying the well-known SERVQUAL model. The deployment of the model revealed at first the importance of the store know-how to measure services from the consumers’ perspective so as to better understand their needs. Secondly, the findings of the research highlighted ‘Security’, ‘Reliability’ and ‘Empathy’ as the most significant dimensions. The findings of this research can help small and medium enterprises to improve the services they provide to their customers by focusing on these three important dimensions.

Complexity and changeability of modern economic processes (especially in cross-cultural context) require enterprises to continuously improve their management processes. Family enterprises, which play an important role in economic growth of economies all over the world, constitute a group that is in especially susceptible to dynamism of changeability of the economic environment, because they mostly belong to the group of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises. Improvement, which is becoming a key challenge for today’s enterprises and constitutes a paradigm of modern management of an enterprise (also in cross-cultural management view), is especially visible in an analysis of this group of entities. The aim of this paper is to confirm the thesis the characteristics distinguishing family firms from the others are determinants of improvement, which is a modern paradigm of management (also in cross-cultural context).

The article presents a theoretical framing of the issue of trainings as an element of employee improvement in an organisation and then refers this subject to the notion of safety culture, especially work safety culture. Improvement of the human capital in the organisation contributes to the formation of proper attitudes of the employees and employers towards the issues of occupational health and safety. The study also presents the results of research regarding the evaluation of a safety culture in enterprises in the industrial sector. The results indicate a strict relation between training activities and the increase of a safety culture at work, and thus, the development of the enterprise.

W artykule przedstawiono teoretyczne ujęcie zagadnienia szkoleń jako elementu doskonalenia pracowników w organizacji, a następnie odniesiono ten temat do pojęcia kultury bezpieczeństwa, a szczególnie kultury bezpieczeństwa pracy. Doskonalenie kapitału ludzkiego w organizacji przyczynia się do kształtowania prawidłowych postaw pracowników i pracodawców wobec zagadnień bezpieczeństwa i higieny pracy. W opracowaniu zaprezentowano również wyniki badań nad oceną kultury bezpieczeństwa w przedsiębiorstwach branży przemysłowej. Wyniki wskazują na ścisły związek działalności szkoleniowej na podnoszenie kultury bezpieczeństwa pracy, a tym samym na rozwój przedsiębiorstwa.

The renewal in proclaiming the Gospel can take place through renewed catechetical activities that transgress the conventional religion classroom dynamics. This is why we should be talking about a creative religion teacher, who can face the challenge of the present. The present calls for fresh perspectives on catechesis and for bidding the farewell to the prehistoric approach to religious education. Creativity is not a science but is a feature displayed by all to a smaller or larger extent. Creativity can be nourished and developed, and the readiness to undertake unconventional action can be trained. A creative mind is not happy recreating the things that one already knows. A creative mind is critical to the status quo and strives to make it better. Preparing teachers to be creative in their catechetical efforts can employ brainstorming, the Lotus Blossom Technique or storyboarding. These techniques allow people to discuss their ideas, develop them, add new ones and to define the relations that obtain between these ideas. To become a creative religion teacher, one needs to avoid mental clichés and face bravely the dangers and challenges of their catechetical work. Creativity is endorsed by the atmosphere of trust, and the reliance on principles of justice, kindness and respect to the opinions held by others, even though their ideas seem unrealistic or futuristic. Creativity should emerge in these areas of catechetical influence where one can diagnose considerable degree of demotivation, routine, disempowerment or where religion is being marginalized or eliminated from the domain of the state’s educational responsibility.

The paper presents an analysis of the factors that affect the performance, efficacy and efficiency of the implementation of integrated management systems in an organisation, as well as identifies the potential problems that might occur during this process. For an organisation to operate successfully and effectively it is essential to regulate and manage it in a systematic and transparent way. The continuous improvement of an organisation's activities and processes also involves the introduction and maintenance of management systems that are designed to permanently raise an organisation's performance, whilst addressing the needs of all stakeholders. The purpose of the continual improvement of integrated management systems in an organisation is to increase the likelihood that customer and stakeholder satisfaction is achieved.

The aim of this pilot study is to describe, analyse and interpret the outcome of a pronunciation self-assessment task carried out by Polish learners of English at an academic level and their reflections on progress and what they believe they need in order to feel more successful as speakers of English in terms of pronunciation. It also attempts to discuss certain individual factors determining the perceptions of the learners’ performance. Seventeen Polish first-year university students of English philology were asked to assess their improvement in the production of individual English sounds based on two recording sessions that they had undergone at the beginning and at the end of the academic year, i.e. before and after a two-semester pronunciation course. The results of the students’ assessment were then compared with the teacher’s assessment. All of the participants were recorded reading a diagnostic passage which concentrates on examining individual segments of Standard British English (SBE). They were also asked a number of questions in the form of an open-ended questionnaire related to their attitudes and feelings towards certain mispronunciations and general performance in the two recording sessions, how they perceive the way they speak English, their opinions as to the most effective techniques and activities in pronunciation training.

Celem niniejszego badania pilotażowego jest opis, analiza i interpretacja wyników samooceny wymowy języka angielskiego przeprowadzonej wśród polskich studentów filologii angielskiej oraz przedstawienie ich refleksji na temat postępu i potrzeb związanych z przyswajaniem wymowy angielskiej. Artykuł zwraca również uwagę na indywidualne czynniki wpływające na postrzeganie własnej wymowy, takie jak pewność siebie czy lękliwość. Siedemnastu studentów anglistyki wzięło udział w badaniu oceniającym własny postęp w artykulacji poszczególnych dźwięków angielskich, bazując na dwóch nagraniach przeprowadzonych przed i po kursie wymowy, trwającym dwa semestry. Wyniki samooceny zostały zestawione i porównane z oceną nauczyciela. Wszyscy uczestnicy czytali tekst diagnostyczny, uwzględniający poszczególne segmenty standardowej wymowy języka angielskiego (Standard British English – SBE). Następnie wypełnili kwestionariusz zawierający pytania otwarte związane z nastawieniem studentów i odczuciami względem swoich błędów w wymowie, postrzegania swojego sposobu mówienia oraz z oiniami na temat najbardziej efektywnych metod i technik wspomagających trening wymowy i chęci jego kontynuacji.

The concept of Industry 4.0 continues to gain popularity. Its implementation determines the level of technological maturity of an organisation, therefore the possibility of developing a competitive advantage. The goal of the authors was to design a tool conditioning the self-assessment of technological maturity of an organisation. This required obtaining an answer to the research question - what competencies condition the technological maturity of the organisation? The following were considered to be the most important: automation of production and logistics processes, the level of computer-assisted control and quality of management process flows, and the ability to apply new information technologies (such as big data, IIoT, cloud computing, for example). The chosen objective was achieved by conducting a literature review to identify the organisation's competencies, conducting a survey among experts, and applying the proposed tool in an organisation where management approval was obtained.

Koncepcja Przemysłu 4.0 ciągle zyskuje na popularności. Wdrożenie jej przesądza o poziomie dojrzałości technologicznej organizacji, zatem możliwości wypracowania przez nią przewagi konkurencyjnej. Celem autorów artykułu było zaprojektowanie narzędzia warunkującego dokonanie samooceny dojrzałości technologicznej organizacji. Wymagało to uzyskania odpowiedzi na pytanie badawcze – jakie kompetencje warunkują dojrzałość technologiczną organizacji? Za najważniejsze uznano: zautomatyzowanie procesów produkcyjnych i logistycznych, poziom komputerowego wspomagania procesu kontroli oraz jakości przebiegu procesów zarządczych i zdolność zastosowania nowych technologii informatycznych (takich jak np. big data, IIoT, chmury obliczeniowe). Obrany cel zrealizowano dzięki dokonaniu przeglądu literatury umożliwiającemu zidentyfikowanie kompetencji organizacji, przeprowadzeniu badania wśród ekspertów oraz zastosowaniu zaproponowanego narzędzia w organizacji, w której uzyskano na to zgodę kierownictwa.

The article analyses the possibilities of using the kamishibai audit in the area of quality inspection process implementation. The kamishibai audit is a tool of lean and visual management concept used, among others, in the Toyota automotive company in order to verify their compliance with standards. This audit can, in effect, contribute to the improvement of processes. In the article, the kamishibai audit was characterised, the characteristics of the audit that determine its usefulness in the area of quality inspection processes were identified, and an example procedure for the implementation of the kamishibai audit in the examined area was presented. The article also presents the characteristics of the successful implementation of kamishibai audits and ways of enhancing their effectiveness. It has been proven that kamishibai audits can be successfully used to evaluate standards in the area of quality inspection processes.

W artykule podjęto problematykę aktywizowania uczniów w procesie dydaktycznowychowawczym. Skupiono się na takich zabiegach edukacyjnych, które uwzględniają humanistyczne podejście wobec ucznia oparte na współpracy i dialogu, stosowaniu problemowych metod kształcenia oraz zróżnicowanych form pracy. Nowe wymagania i oczekiwania stawiane przed nauczycielem określają go jako jednostkę twórczą, kreatywną, otwartą na zmiany, posiadającą zdolności i umiejętności współpracy, komunikacji oraz gotowości do uczenia się od innych oraz uczenia innych. Biorąc pod uwagę dotychczasowe badania oraz doświadczenia z praktyki edukacyjnej w polskiej szkole przeważa podający, frontalny model kształcenia, w którym dominującą rolę sprawuje nauczyciel. Zatem istnieje konieczność zwrócenia szczególnej uwagi na kształtowanie takich kompetencji i umiejętności wśród przyszłych nauczycieli, które pozwolą im na inspirowanie zmian w procesie dydaktyczno-wychowawczym, twórczych rozwiązań do praktyki edukacyjnej oraz działania pełne inwencji.

Article discusses the process of activating skills students' in the didactical-educational process. The focused on such educational procedures that take into account humanistic approach against a student based on cooperation and dialogue, application of problem training methods and different forms of work. New demands and expectations placed before the teacher define it as a creative unit, creative, open to change, which has the capacity and skills of cooperation, communication and the willingness to learn from others and teach others. Taking into account existing research and experience with educational practice prevails in Polish school is frontal model of education, where the teacher holds a dominant role.There is a need to pay special attention to the development of these competencies and skills among future teachers, which allow them to inspire change in the didacticaleducational process, creative solutions to educational practice and action full of inventiveness.

The process of further education and professional development of teachers played a crucial role in the educational system. Structural changes pointed to the path that teachers should follow. Their awareness of constant development was continually connected with education. Teachers felt that good professional skills were based on the development of already acquired education. Full qualifications, professionalism and dedication to the occupation constituted common ground for teacher’s professional development that is a continuous process.

Proces dokształcania i doskonalenia nauczycieli odgrywał istotną rolę w systemie oświaty państwa. Zmiany ustrojowe wyznaczały drogę, którą powinni podążać nauczyciele. Ich świadomość ciągłego rozwoju nieustannie związana była z edukacją. Pedagodzy mieli poczucie, że dobry warsztat pracy opiera się na doskonaleniu już zdobytego wykształcenia. Pełne kwalifikacje, profesjonalizm oraz poświęcenie dla wykonywanego zawodu stanowiły podstawę rozwoju zawodowego nauczycieli, który ma charakter ciągły.

Zarządzanie procesami stanowi przedmiot permanentnych dociekań zarówno w teorii jak i praktyce zarządzania organizacją. Przedmiot ten, dotyczy przede wszystkim doskonalenia zarządzania proce-sami w organizacji w kontekście ich intensyfikacji. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba rozpoznania oraz uzasadnienia realnych przesłanek zarządzania procesami w organizacji. W szczególności próba identyfikacji realnej przesłanki egzogenicznej konkretyzowanej informacją wyrażająca kontekst oto-czenia organizacji, która stanowi wiedzę zorientowaną na cel oraz endogenicznej konkretyzowaną przez: wyznawane wartości, cechy osobowościowe, właściwości temperamentu jak i postawy społecz-ne. Process management constitutes the subject matter of permanent investigation both in theory and practice with regard to organization management. Article aims at an attempt to identify and account for feasible premises of process management in an organization. Particularly, an attempt to identify an exogenous feasible premise specified by information on the context of organization’s environment, which constitutes goal-oriented knowledge, and an endogenous one specified by: shared values, per-sonality traits, temperament features as well as social attitudes. In the article, the method of source literature analysis was applied in order to allow for reflection and formulate a standpoint in the field of importance and significance of the causal approach as regards process management in an organi-zation.

Th ere at present is probably no not a single one sphere of our social life, in which the offi cial authority is in the state in an optimal way or at least decently to perform one’s functions towards the society and the economy. Units of the sector of the public fi nance to a lesser degree are endangered with loss of the ability to continue activity, because aren’t subject to the recipes associated with the bankruptcy of the business entity. However it doesn’t mean that they cannot be liquidated, when their further activity is threatening the fi nancial liquidity and the solvency of the superior organ. What the public fi nance is supposed to enable the optimum performance of her function in relation to. States should and so be adapted for the being of the political and social-economic system and to correspond to his level of development of civilization. In the article a security system of the public fi nance was presented in Poland with the division into the security system strategic and operating, control in the sector of the public fi nance and responsibility for the breach of discipline of the public fi nance, as well as conditioning of overcoming the crisis in the public fi nance you.

Polskie fi nanse publiczne wymagają reformy. Obecnie nie ma chyba ani jednej sfery naszego życia społecznego, w której władza publiczna jest w stanie optymalnie lub chociaż przyzwoicie wypełniać swoje funkcje wobec społeczeństwa i gospodarki. Jednostki sektora fi nansów publicznych w mniejszym stopniu zagrożone są utratą zdolności do kontynuowania działalności, gdyż nie podlegają przepisom związanym z upadłością podmiotu gospodarczego. Nie oznacza to jednak, że nie mogą zostać zlikwidowane, gdy ich dalsza działalność będzie zagrażała płynności fi nansowej i wypłacalności organu nadrzędnego. W związku z czym fi nanse publiczne mają umożliwiać optymalne wykonywanie jej funkcji. Powinny być zatem dostosowane do istoty ustroju politycznego i społeczno- gospodarczego państwa oraz odpowiadać jego poziomowi rozwoju cywilizacyjnego. W artykule przedstawiono system bezpieczeństwa fi nansów publicznych w Polsce z podziałem na system bezpieczeństwa strategicznego i operacyjnego, kontrolę w sektorze fi nansów publicznych oraz odpowiedzialność za naruszenie dyscypliny fi nansów publicznych, a także uwarunkowania przezwyciężania kryzysu w fi nansach publicznych państwa.
