The aim of the discussion was to show the changes in the perception of students with special educational needs and the organization of their learning process. The empirical research included current difficulties in everyday work with students with special educational needs according to teachers. The research method was a diagnostic survey with a survey technique. The chi-square test was used to analyze the results obtained in terms of the significance of the existing relation. Eighty-three teachers of early school education from public schools took part in the research. The research results have shown current problems in implementing education that meets the requirements of students with special educational needs. The answers obtained indicate that the main problem preventing the correct implementation of individual recommendations is too many students with special educational needs in one group. The analysis of the situation of these students from the perspective of four decades; i. e. since the definition of the concept of special educational needs; as well as the presentation of contemporary problems of school reality; constitute the starting point for a new discussion on introducing changes that will improve the education of students with special educational needs.

The article presents an innovative perspective on learning styles and communication styles, thanks to which it is possible to enhance the effectiveness of educational activities in the educational process and to improve the way of conducting conversations with parents or students. The author refers to scientific research, indicating low validity of recognizing the effectiveness of dividing students according to the so-called learning styles. Instead, she proposes using one of the concepts of Transactional Analysis – contact fields, described for the first time by P. Ware, and additionally included in the concept of T. Kahler’s personality adaptation. The article presents the concept of contact fields and its translation into educational practice: methods of recognizing preferred contact fields for individual students and parents, as well as practical examples of using the concept as a method of individualizing work with students.
In this article, I address the complex subject of individualised teaching at school. I explore in how far individualised teaching is achievable at school. To capture this multidimensional issue, I first discuss various understandings of individualisation and its historical embeddedness. Then, I analyse legal provisions regulating individualised teaching and outline researchers’ positions on individualised teaching. At the declarative level, individualisation means respecting the uniqueness of the student, emphasising his/her activity and promoting his/her emancipation. In terms of recommendations for school-based policies, individualisation entails endorsing individual paths amidst high standardisation and institutionalisation. Individualised teaching is also treated instrumentally as a means to other ends. Besides, the limited use of individualised teaching is associated with the attachment to the principles of a uniform, mass school.

At present the main purpose of school integration is the pursuit of dialogue and ways of ensuring integration which concerns both disabled learners and the ones who do not exhibit special educational needs. In this paper, the is-sue will be incorporated into the framework of teaching foreign languages to disabled pupils attending public schools. The present author will depict L2 teaching goals in relation to education shared by pupils with and without specific learning difficulties as well as to problems with implementing the idea of integration in foreign language classroom. These questions will be discussed with reference to the opinions of gleaned from public school teachers with experience in working with disabled learners.
Attempts at individualisation in teaching appeared in the Polish didactics for foreign languages during the interwar period following the influence of the „new school” concept, as propagated by the reformation move-ments in American and European education. On the basis of teaching curriculums, practical reports and theoretical contemplations from the years 1919-1939, the article shows the way the then contemporary teach-ers of foreign languages understood the notion of individualisation, their arguments for its necessity and also the ways the were trying to adapt the new individualising methods of work and forms of organising lessons for their home environment.
