Journey of a child and a teenager. Anička skřítek a Slaměný Hubert and Valerie a týden divů as two examples of what is hidden in human subconscious. The article presents two texts of Vítězslav Nezval Anička skřítek a Slaměný Hubert and Valerie a týden divů, both from 3rd decade of 20th century. The aim is to compare two types of journeys: taken by a little girl and by the teenage girl. These two stories are very different: little Anička travels to her own imagination, and the young women Valerie travels inside herself. The author of this paper compares those two trips in reference to the developmental psychology and psychoanalysis. Analysis of initiation novels to gives us the conclusion, that Nezval was fascinated in human subconscious.

Teza: Celem artykułu jest analiza utworu Vítězslava Nezvala pt. Valerie a týden divů [Waleria i tydzień cudów] pod kątem zawartych w nim wątków, powiązanych z psychoanalityczną teorią Zygmunta Freuda. Książka o nastolatce poszukującej własnej tożsamości została napisana w latach trzydziestych XX w. w Czechach, wydana zaś po drugiej wojnie światowej. Utwór należy do gatunku prozy inicjacyjnej, ale charakteryzuje się zastosowaniem elementów surrealistycznej poetyki. Omówione koncepcje: Po opisie atmosfery awangardy i kontekstu historycznego, a także związków nadrealizmu i psychoanalizy, autorka artykułu przechodzi do analizy utworu Valerie a týden divů. Na podstawie wybranych elementów fabuły i poszczególnych bohaterów odwołuje się do koncepcji podświadomości, archetypów, kompleksu Edypa i romansu rodzinnego. Oprócz rozważań Z. Freuda autorka opiera się na pozycji Bruna Bettelheima Cudowne i pożyteczne: znaczenie i doniosłość baśni, aby na podstawie przykładów ukazać drogę inicjacji Valerie w dorosłość oraz poszukiwanie własnej seksualności. Wyniki i wnioski: Analiza bohaterów i wybranych elementów fabuły pozwoliła potwierdzić tezę o istnieniu związków pomiędzy treścią książki a psychoanalizą Zygmunta Freuda. Odnalezione wątki dotyczą szczególnie teorii podświadomości, archetypów, kompleksu Edypa i romansu rodzinnego. Ponadto autorka zwraca uwagę na elementy surrealistyczne czy jungowskie, takie jak inicjacja oraz funkcjonowanie sfery sacrum oraz profanum w utworze. Główna bohaterka Valerie jest rozdarta pomiędzy rzeczywistością a snem oraz między dorosłością a dzieciństwem, i pomimo przebytej podróży w poszukiwaniu własnej tożsamości, dochodzi do konkluzji, że nie zna samej siebie do końca, co jest jasnym nawiązaniem do teorii podświadomości człowieka. Oryginalność/wartość poznawcza podejścia: Analiza pozwoliła dojść do wniosku, że związki z podświadomością są w utworze widocznie zarysowane. Związki V. Nezvala z psychoanalizą są powszechnie znane, brakuje jednak (w szczególności w polskiej bohemistyce) opracowań konkretnych utworów literackich.

Thesis: The aim of the research is to find the connection between Freud’s theory of psychoanalysis and Vitezslav Nezval’s novel Valerie a týden divů [Valerie and Her Week of Wonders]. Story about the teenage girl in the search of her own identity was written in the 30’s of 20th, century in Czechoslovakia and is a part of the identity novels genre, but also contains some surrealistic elements. Concepts: After the description of the czech avant-garde atmosphere, historical context and connections between surrealism and psychoanalysis, the author starts with the analysis of the work Valerie a tyden divu. Basing on the chosen parts of the plot and specific characters she refers to the concepts of subconsciousness, archetypes, Oedipus complex and family romance. The author of the article used as base the Bruno Bettelheim’s book The Uses of Enchantment: The Meaning and Importance of Fairy Tales to show, with selected examples, the Valerie’s entrance into adulthood and search for self-sexuality. Results: Analysis of the characters and selected parts of the novel shows the connections with Freud’s psychoanalysis, especially theory of subconsciousness, archetypes, Oedipus complex and family romance. Author also focuses on the surrealistic aspects or Jung’s theory of initiation and categorisation of the scenes to sacrum and profanum components. The characters and selected elements of the novel shows the connections with psychoanalysis, and leads to the conclusion, that the text refers especially to human subconsciousness, mainly in the erotic scenes and in the archetypal features of the characters. The main character, Valerie is teared apart between reality and dream and between adulthood and childhood. Even though the journey she took in the find of her own identity, she finds out, that she does not know herself at all, which is a clear refferation to the theory of subconsciousness. Originality/value: The analysis lead to conclusion that relations with the human subconscious are clearly mark in the text. V. Nezval's relations with psychoanalysis are widely known, but there is a lack of studies (especially in czech literature studies on polish field) of specific literary texts.
