Artykuł opisuje zmiany, jakie dokonywały się na przestrzeni ostatnich trzydziestu lat w zakresie definiowania potrzeb uczniów i modeli kształcenia, czego efektem jest upowszechniane obecnie podejście inkluzyjne, czyli edukacja włączająca. Jej celem jest tworzenie środowiska szkolnego, które odpowiadałoby na zróżnicowane potrzeby uczniów. Metodą, a zarazem narzędziem, które to umożliwia, jest Przewodnik po edukacji włączającej (tytuł oryginalny Index for Inclusion), autorstwa Tony’ego Bootha oraz Mel Ainscow, który został przetłumaczony na ponad trzydzieści różnych języków, w tym od 2011 roku funkcjonuje również w przekładzie na język polski.

The article is concerned with changes that have been accomplished over the last thirty years in terms of defining the needs of students and learning models, which resulted in the dissemination of inclusive approach or inclusive education. Its aim is to create a school environment that would meet diverse needs of students. A method and, at the same time, a tool that makes it possible is “Index for Inclusion” by Tony Booth and Mel Ainscow, which has been translated into more than thirty different languages, including Polish since 2011.
