Increasingly intensified processes of globalization and the connected processes of European integration create new challenges for particular individuals and societies, and also business entities and institutions that are present in various scales of spatial systems. They refer to the rules of progressing process of concentration of capital (business activity) which results in the emergence of larger and larger global corporations. Their activities intensify polarization of global, European, national or regional social, economic and cultural space, and to some extent they lead to their standardization. That is why aspiring to learn complex regularities of changes that happen both in companies, and in particular spatial systems is so crucial during the process of development managing. Thus, it is advised to remember that problems concerning development of businesses, which refer both to the way of managing an enterprise as well as to spatial systems, are of great importance and they are part of current research subjects in the area of theoretical inquiries and within the scope of development of empirical analyses. They lead to more precise cognition of mechanisms and determinants, which in domestic conditions should be used to activate society within the range of developing resourcefulness. A model, which can serve as a pattern to conduct analyses and construct strategies of development of particular categories of companies and their surroundings, with attention paid to the impact of such features as: institutions and members of the EU, markets, economic policy and potential alternatives concerning behaviour of decision-makers of any kind, was proposed in this paper.
The author of this article describes and analyses the problem of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibilityand also Sustainable Development) as a strategy to run a business. The main problemconcerns the possibilities of working out an agreement in order to recognize the commonvalues shared by key member states of the EU. Despite their different views, the author of this text has the opinion that a good place for anachievement of consensus in this matter is the business arena. It seems probable that businesswill be the most neutral field to achieve harmony in social issues during the European integrationprocess.
This paper is intended to prove the need to teach entrepreneurial society from kindergardens and to prepare all necessary measures to boost creative activity and entrepreneurial skills in children and teenagers. Every third Pole lives in poverty currently in Poland. These people have poor intelligent entrepreneurial features and this is one of the reason of their poverty. What can we do with those people from the depressed and ‘nothing to do’ culture? We can inoculate them with entrepreneurial culture and they have to believe in themselves. Entrepreneurial culture means developing creativity and innovation constantly. Economy and school have to cooperate together because the world is business. Where there is a good education, there is a wealth of economy. The entrepreneurial spirit leads students to success in their life. Therefore, teachers should prepare to teach them and shape of entrepreneurial attitudes in students. This programming period distributed password ‘economy knowledge-based’ and in the new programming should be altered ‘economy skills-based’. While access to knowledge is easy, student’s willingness and skills play a vital role. Therefore, boosting skills is a key aspect of economy development.
Increasing the potential and quality of the intellectual resources of a society by the means of higher education (which in consequence leads to an acceleration in the development of a knowledge- based economy) plays a very important role in the intensifying process of integration. This article presents activities supporting research and scientific activity and international cooperation among European Union states and the consequent differentiation of intellectual resources in national and regional systems in the light of selected indices and synthetic measures. Furthermore, the role of personal traits and attitudes towards enterprise, which enable active participation in the integration process, is also emphasised. The analyses conducted indicate that there is a significant differentiation in the potential and the quality of intellectual resources in the European zone. A highly competitive position of national and regional systems largely results from various levels of social development, the policies within the scope of the shaping of a knowledge-based economy and financial backing given to research and development activities and tertiary-level education, combined with international cooperation in these areas. The levelling of any existing discrepancies in Europe should take place by means of increasing the quality of intellectual resources.

The paper concerns an attempt to determine the status of European Union member states. It takes as its starting point the statement that the EU’s organizational structure provides for more than a confederation of states but less than a federation. At the present stage of the EU’s development a unique organization has been established that has not predecessor in the standards of international organizations. This is accompanied with a new approach to the interpretation of the nature of sovereignty of integrating European states, which is connected with intensifying processes of decomposition and the loosening of sovereign control by states over their territories and populations. States achieve their sovereign interests within the framework of international structures. They can also voluntarily restrict their sovereign rights on the basis of the commonly accepted rules and principles of international organizations. In this way they assign a comparative degree of state authorities’ competencies to these organizations. As a consequence, numerous issues that were formerly regulated by states are increasingly more often solved by means of corporate operations. This naturally leads to the states’ opening to the international environment without any threat to their sovereignty. The process of integration in Europe has not resulted in sovereignty of the European Union itself. Sovereignty remains an attribute of states. European states maintain their ability to
The article discusses the process of transforming driving instruction in terms of European integration as a basic factor of transport. It indicates the areas of driving instruction to be subjected to the process of transformation and their impact on the improvement of road safety, along with discussing the changes in selected areas of driving instruction, while pointing out fundamental differences between the legal requirements of Poland and selected European Union countries. It further discusses the differences in the basic training of drivers within the European Union and indicates the need for entrepreneurial activities in order to facilitate improvement in road safety. Also highlighted is the need to remove any differences in traffic regulations and in all other areas of driving instruction.

The article presents the evolution of innovation policy of the European Union. The analyses of EU policy contained in the article are based on the theory of the innovation. The text focuses on the European programmes and initiatives for increasing innovativeness and competitiveness of the Community economy. The aim of this article is also to present the impact of the Lisbon and “Europe 2020” EU strategies in the context of the “third generation innovation policy”.
There is no doubt that the European Union, as a result of the European integration, is an unprecedented entity in the history of international relations. It is a symbol of a new, uniting Europe, which decided to eliminate war forever. Unfortunately, the idea of “eternal peace” has not materialised fully yet. The article aims to present the European Union at present, facing an ongoing crisis. The article discusses strengths and weaknesses of the EU, which – although it became substantially stronger expanding to the East – does not cope with many economic, political, social and international problems nowadays. The main thesis is the statement that the EU requires a complete overhaul so that it might continue to develop and be the European integration drive. If it does not happen, the EU will start to disintegrate and will finally collapse or become nothing more but just a free trade zone.
The people’s participation in decision-making process is a significant part of Europe’s and the European Union’s history. The institution of referendum plays important role in this context. The main aim of this article is to answer the question of how and in what circumstances referenda are used to decide on a possible resignation from the membership in the European Union (as in the case of the UK referendum) or indirectly – a possible exit from the euro zone (as in the case of the Greek vote on the adoption of financial bailout). An important task in this context is to consider the consequences of such referenda – both for individual countries and for the European Union as whole (also in the context of its flexibility). Udział obywateli w procesie podejmowania decyzji państwowych stanowi istotną część historii Europy i samej Unii Europejskiej.
Artykuł przedstawia wyzwania, jakie w trakcie politycznej i ekonomicznej integracji w ramach Unii Europejskiej pojawiły się w związku z kryzysem ekonomicznym.

Powrót do grupy europejskich liderów wymaga podjęcia reform gospodarczych zapewniających stabilny wzrost w długiej perspektywie.

Not only in Poland, but also throughout Europe, the reform of the European Union is being actively discussed. Among the proposed solutions there is the division of the member states into a group of states supporting further integration and the remaining ones, which tend to weaken the existing relations. According to the authors, Two-speed Europe already exists, and Poland, despite pro-European declarations of politicians, is more and more clearly outside the mainstream. The return to the group of European leaders calls for economic reforms to ensure stable growth in the long run.

The article attempts to assess the systemic economic changes taking place in the last 20 years in Poland, with regard to the chosen exemplars of situation in other Central European states. The paper is going to depict the impact of European integration (Europeanization) on the formation of a new economic model after transition from post-socialist state. The main thesis of the article is that the political changes initiated under the influence of Europeanization and globalization created a dependent (exogenous) model of capitalism in Central Europe.
Jednakże większe tempo wzrostu gospodarczego obserwowane jest w okresie członkowskim, a kraje te znacząco zmniejszyły dystans do partnerów z Europy Zachodniej. Reasumując przeprowadzona analiza pozwala sformułować następujące prawidłowości: • Polska i Słowacja to kraje, które szybko pokonywały różnice w poziomie rozwoju, jednakże nadal posiadają wysoką stopę bezrobocia.
Do scharakteryzowania kondycji finansowej podmiotów przyjęto zestaw kilkudziesięciu rocznych wskaźników finansowych z okresu 1999-2005. Źródłem danych jest baza BACH, zawierająca zagregowane i zharmonizowane dane statystyczno-księgowe przedsiębiorstw w krajach Europy.
