In the presented study, the thesis is put forward that education belongs to the neglected issues which hardly ever appear (and only contextually) in expert literature on special pedagogy, especially in the field of integrated and inclusive education. The article consists of three parts. In the first part, there has been presented an analysis of the rank of education in special pedagogy as well as the goals and principles formulated on its ground. The second part comprises three analyses aiming at the verification of the formulated thesis. The first analysis contains an overview of currently accessible (on the Internet) titles of books qualified to the special pedagogy section; the second one is an overview of chapter titles (on integrated and inclusive education) of 14 collective works published in the years 2000–2013 as conference proceedings; the third one presents the results of three discussion panels consisting of teachers from integrated schools. All the three analyses were directed towards identifying the presence of the category of education. The third part of the text comprises the final conclusions.

W artykule stawiam tezę, że wychowanie należy obecnie do zagadnień zaniechanych, niepojawiających się wcale lub co najwyżej kontekstowo w opracowaniach z zakresu pedagogiki specjalnej, szczególnie w obszarze edukacji integracyjnej i inkluzyjnej. Artykuł składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej została przedstawiona analiza miejsca wychowania w przedmiocie pedagogiki specjalnej, celach oraz zasadach formułowanych na jej gruncie. W drugiej przedstawiono trzy analizy służące weryfikacji sformułowanej tezy. Pierwsza – obejmuje przegląd aktualnie dostępnych w witrynach internetowych opracowań zwartych, zakwalifikowanych do działu pedagogika specjalna. Druga – to przegląd tytułów rozdziałów (poświęconych edukacji integracyjnej i inkluzyjnej) czternastu prac zbiorowych, pokonferencyjnych, opublikowanych w latach 2000–2013, w trzeciej zostały przedstawione wyniki trzech dyskusji grupowych nauczycieli szkół integracyjnych. Wszystkie trzy analizy ukierunkowane zostały na zidentyfikowanie obecności kategorii wychowania. Trzecia część opracowania zawiera konkluzje końcowe.
