Artykuł przedstawia możliwości alternatywnego inwestowania w Polsce. Skupia się na opisie dostępności, cech charakterystycznych i uwarunkowań inwestycji w sztukę, wino, whisky i w przedmioty kolekcjonerskie. Autorka przeprowadziła także analizę zyskowności wybranych decyzji inwestycyjnych oraz przedstawiła perspektywy rozwoju rynku inwestycji emocjonalnych w Polsce.

This article describes an alternative investment opportunities in Poland. It focuses on the description of the characteristics, availability and determinants of investment in art, wine and collectibles. The author has also carried out an analysis of the profitability of selected investment decisions and presented market prospects of emotional investments in Poland.

The article presents the specificity of passion investments as a kind of alternative investments. In particular, investments in collectible cars are discussed: the characteristics of potentially collectible cars, as well as basic indices for the collectible car market. Presented comparison between Hagerty indices and the New York Stock Exchange indices (Dow Jones and S&P500) between January 2006 and March 2016 indicates a higher return on investment in the collectible cars. With an exception of the 2008–2009 recession, investments in collectible cars allowed to achieve a higher rate of return compared to gold, too. However, further analysis shows that there are significant differences in the profitability of investments depending on the specific car model.

W artykule zaprezentowano specyfikę inwestycji emocjonalnych na tle szerszej kategorii, jaką są inwestycje alternatywne. Omówione zostały w szczególności inwestycje w auta kolekcjonerskie – przedstawiono cechy samochodów potencjalnie kwalifikujących się jako przedmiot inwestycji, a także podstawowe indeksy dla rynku takich aut. Porównanie indeksów Hagerty z indeksami giełdy nowojorskiej (Dow Jones i S&P500) w okresie od stycznia do marca 2016 r. wskazuje na wyższą opłacalność inwestycji w auta kolekcjonerskie. Z wyjątkiem okresu recesji (lat 2008–2009) auta kolekcjonerskie pozwalały uzyskać wyższą stopę zwrotu również w porównaniu ze złotem. Analiza zmian cen wybranych modeli samochodów pokazuje jednak, że występują znaczące różnice w opłacalności inwestycji w zależności od konkretnego modelu auta.

In this article we describe the pattern coins of the Second Polish Republic, which are a form of alternative (emotional) investment in historical coins. Our motivation to cover this subject is related to an increasing interest in non-standard forms of investment. Moreover, the literature does not provide valuable analysis of this issue. We decided to focus on one collection and follow the development of its market. The time period ranges from the mid-1990s and to the end of 2017. We distinguish five subperiods of analysis. The prices of coins were driven by different demand-side and supply-side factors in these subperiods. We explain the specifics of the coin market and the drivers of coin prices, also highlighting the difficulties that arise when examining this market.

W artykule przedstawiono charakterystykę rynku monet próbnych dwudziestolecia międzywojennego, które stanowią formę inwestycji alternatywnej (emocjonalnej). O podjęciu tej tematyki zdecydowało wzrastające zainteresowanie niestandardowymi formami lokowania kapitału oraz rzadkość problematyki inwestycji emocjonalnych w polskim piśmiennictwie. Autorzy przeanalizowali rynek wybranej kolekcji, śledząc aukcje przeprowadzane przez domy aukcyjne od połowy lat dziewięćdziesiątych XX w. do 2017 r. Analiza cen transakcyjnych dokonana została w podziale na pięć podokresów. W każdym z tych podokresów na ceny transakcyjne wpływ miały inne czynniki popytowe i podażowe. Autorzy wskazali na specyfikę rynku, w szczególności czynników kształtujących ceny monet i trudność badania tendencji na nim.
