The coronavirus pandemic of 2020 has shown that existing socio-economic and political patterns will not work in the new reality. It affects both the public and private sectors. In an era of constraints caused by a pandemic, it is essential to ensure that public administrations respond quickly and adequately to citizens’ needs. In addition, employers are looking for employees who have basic digital competences in addition to specific professional qualifications. Can e-government, understood as the process of using modern information and communication technologies in the functioning of public administration, be an answer to these problems? In this article I propose a thesis that the pandemic-forced development of e-government implies having basic digital competences, which public institutions and private sector companies with administrative employees in Central Pomerania as employers will require from their employees now and in the future.

The aim of this article is to present the difficulties in the work of secondary school teachers during the pandemic, who had to reorganize the way they function and move their classes to virtual spaces. The research results published in various sources and the results of own research were analyzed.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie trudności w pracy nauczycieli szkół średnich w czasie pandemii, którzy musieli przeorganizować sposób funkcjonowania i przenieść zajęcia do wirtualnych przestrzeni.

In order to stop the digital exclusion of the Polish society, it is vital to invest in people and educational systems. It is education what prepares citizens who are to inform, communicate and learn with the use of ICT. Therefore it is important to acquire ICT skills in the formal, non-formal and informal way. The article attempts to answer the following research problems: Which are the key skills necessary to live in the information society? How is ICT used in schools in Europe? What supports the development of adult computer education in the local communities?
Relację z badań poprzedza w artykule omówienie zagadnienia kompetencji informacyjnych i prezentacja kontekstu społecznego, w którym Polacy w wieku 30–50 lat je zdobywali.

Studies suggest that the level of competences adult Poles have related to the use of new technologies in different areas of life is relatively low. In my article, I wish to analyse this phenomenon and its root causes using the results of my own research work. Over the last two years, I have carried out a quantitative study (survey by questionnaire) and a qualitative one (in-depth interview) focusing on adult Poles’ practices as regards Internet use in search of information. In both cases, my respondents were asked, inter alia, how they assessed their competences necessary to perform information search via Internet, what problems related to the process they encountered most frequently and who, if anyone, assisted them in looking for information on the Web. In the interview, I also asked how they acquired their competences. Before moving on to discuss the results of my research, I shall first introduce the notion of online information search competences as well as the social context in which Poles aged 30–50 acquired them.

Digital skills are an important part of the skills required in the 21st century, enabling users to better utilise information and communication technologies (ICT) in different spheres of life. This article examines the integration of these skills into foreign language teaching. The first part of the article studies the notion of digital skills through initiatives undertaken at the European and the national level as well as the current role of digital technology in the language classroom. The second part of the article focuses on the possible integration of digital skills with the development of productive language skills through active methods (collaborative learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning). The preliminary examination shows that the use of these teaching strategies could possibly ensure the parallel development of language and digital skill.
Abstract The aim of research was to analyse the digital exclusion, describe the forms of information support for seniors and diagnose the needs of older people in terms of access to information using digital technologies. Material and methods Literature review, questionnaire method. Results In the study group digital exclusion was observed. Digital exclusion is a type of social exclusion and can lead to lower well-being among seniors. Most often, seniors look for the necessary information among people from immediate surroundings. The most needed information relates to healthcare services. The most effective form of obtaining information is direct contact. In senior's opinion the most serious obstacle in obtaining the necessary information are inappropriate channels and forms of information transfer by institutions. Conclusions There are many forms of information support for seniors. Described solutions are more effective if implemented at the state level. Reducing the digital exclusion of seniors should be one of the priorities of social policy.

The functioning of a person in the media reality is one of the main skills they should have in adult life, and which should be shaped from an early age. There are many problems related to the place of competence and skills in human education. Starting from the matter of distinguishing between media, digital and information competences, through a discussion whether these competences are the task of education or media pedagogy, up to who is to implement this education and whether these individuals, professional groups are prepared for it. The article is an attempt to review definitions related to human functioning in the information society, and aims to emphasize the need for contemporary media education in the field of socialization of the individual; in particular, in the aspect of using competences based on critical thinking of cyberspace users.

During the period of social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the education system in Poland underwent an accelerated process of implementing distance education solutions, related to the involvement of all entities – students, teachers, parents, and authorities of various levels. The opinions of school heads about the opportunities and challenges that this extraordinary situation posed for them have been relatively least investigated. This text presents the results of the research on this group of entities in the education system (Pyżalski, 2020). The analysis of the results of the questionnaire survey shows the fact that schools are insufficiently prepared for online teaching. As a positive effect of mediated education, school heads emphasize the involvement of teachers and their cooperation, the use of modern educational methods and tools, attempts to engage students in self-education and self-education, developing their competences, and integrating the school environment. According to the respondents, remote education has a chance to exist in the future only if the digital competences of teachers and students are developed, learning new tools and expanding the didactic base. According to principals, the development of creative competences of teachers is an opportunity for the success of online learning in the future(Madalińska-Michalak, 2020). According to the respondents, the weaknesses of distance learning are technological deficiencies and overloading teachers with additional duties. The surveyed school heads are concerned about the negative effects of remote education in the form of a more general weakening of social relations, and above all, the inability to fully implement the educational process. Remote education is a huge logistical challenge for school principals and daily dealing with technical, technological and communication problems with teachers, parents and students. For many of them it is an unequal struggle that they undertake because they are responsible for their students, staff and the school.

System szkolnictwa w Polsce przeszedł w okresie izolacji społecznej, spowodowanej pandemią COVID-19, przyspieszony proces wdrażania rozwiązań edukacyjnych na odległość, związany z zaangażowaniem wszystkich podmiotów – uczniów, nauczycieli, rodziców i władz różnych szczebli. Stosunkowo najmniej zbadane zostały opinie dyrektorów szkół na temat szans i wyzwań, które ta nadzwyczajna sytuacja postawiła przed nimi. W niniejszym tekście przedstawione zostały wyniki badania nad tą właśnie grupą podmiotów systemu edukacji (Pyżalski, 2020). Analiza wyników badania ankietowego unaoczniła fakt niewystarczającego poziomu przygotowania szkół do nauczania online.
Digital competences, involving the responsible and critical use of information and communication technologies in various areas of our lives, are today one of the key competences of the twenty-first century. In the face of the ongoing digital revolution, their importance in various fields of education is growing as well. The aim of the article is to show the role of digital competences in language education from the perspective of the modern generation – active users of modern technologies. Based on the theoretical aspects of the discussed issues, surveys were conducted the main goal of which was the analysis of personal opinions of learners (representatives of the digital natives community) on the role of digital competences in various activities of the glottodidactic process. The research was conducted among students of neophilological specialties of the bachelor’s programme at the University of Silesia. The scope of use and assessment of the usefulness of digital competences in the process of teaching-learning foreign languages and the definition and self-assessment of own e-skills was of particular interest. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the research material confirmed the important role of e-skills in developing both communication and language competences and learning strategies, also from the perspective of learners. Given the significant usefulness of digital competences in didactic activities, improving them is undoubtedly one of the priority tasks of modern education.

Kompetencje cyfrowe, obejmujące odpowiedzialne i krytyczne wykorzystanie technologii informacyjnych i komunikacyjnych w różnych obszarach naszego życia, stanowią jedne z kluczowych kompetencji XXI wieku.
For a long time digital skills, due to their relational and relative nature, have been a challenge for researchers trying to create a framework catalogue of these competences. As technology develops and the working environment changes, this task is becoming increasingly difficult and the gradation of digital skills is getting less and less clear. Employers and managers have similar doubts: What does it mean that an employee has digital skills? How can you assess their level? How can you check whether an employee’s digital skills will help them fulfil their tasks? Since the pandemic, emphasis has been put on the importance of the digital competences of employees, with many companies adapting the way they operate to the new conditions (remote work, hybrid work). Despite many existing compilations it is difficult to find a unified method of assessing digital skills in modern workplaces. In this article the author presents the results of research on digital skills of employees of a financial company. The DigComp model was applied as the technical basis of the research, which allowed for a diagnosis of digital skills in specific areas (qualitative research). The other part of the research compares employees’ claims with their supervisor’s description of their digital skills (qualitative research) on the operational level – in a professional environment. The research showed discrepancies in the perception of employees’ digital skills related to cybersecurity, the use of digital tools for streamlining work processes, as well as keeping a work-life balance.

Wraz z rozwojem technologii i zmianami w środowisku pracy, zadanie to staje się trudniejsze, a gradacja kompetencji cyfrowych – coraz mniej klarowna. Wiele firm dopasowało sposób działania do nowych warunków (praca zdalna, praca hybrydowa).
A changing world forces the use of ICT in various aspects of social life and everyday including: learning in the workplace, accessing to information and knowledge (including open educational resources). The extensive use of information technology gives opportunities for the use of the ever-changing form of information and ways to use the data. Statistical data cited in the article show still the high level of digital literacy in Poland which may be related to the digital exclusion of citizens. Therefore, the initiatives, educational activities (even the educational EU projects) aimed at improving the competences in order to fully participate in today's information society are highly needed

Despite the constant increase in the number of mature users of the Internet in Poland and a growing number of programs to counteract digital exclusion, seniors still seem to stereotyped as people who do not understand the Internet, are afraid of it and do not need it. This stereotype also has an impact on the older users themselves; research shows (that) they doubt their own digital skills and educational opportunities regarding the use of computers and the Internet. This article presents an overview of the current state of knowledge on Polish seniors’ activity on the Internet. It is based on research conducted in Poland and data obtained from network users by institutions and companies. The author, who has worked with mature Internet users (on the largest and oldest Polish website for people over 50), also raises the question of how to deal effectively with digital exclusion of seniors. The article aims to encourage various groups (institutions, companies, educational institutions, government, etc.) associated with the presence of people over 50 on the Internet to recognize this group’s real needs of regarding Internet use, and to prepare programs or offer services based on seniors’ actual expectations.

Introduction. The COVID-19 pandemic caused transformation of the mode of work provision from stationary (on-site) to remote working. This brought a number of consequences for both employers and employees in terms of work organization as well as confi rmed existing and created new forms of social inequality. Aim. The aim of this article is to attempt to characterize remote work in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, with special attention to its effectiveness as well as social inequalities. Materials and methods. The paper uses the method of analysis and synthesis of literature sources. Results. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated some already existing forms of social inequality; the phenomenon of unequal access to remote work occurred. Analyses of its effectiveness revealed the still functioning unequal division of household responsibilities between women and men, resulting from the patriarchal family model cultivated in many societies and the assignment of “traditional” social roles to women. Conclusions. Remote work will be a post-pandemic norm in some sectors of the labour market and some businesses. Therefore, it is necessary to develop those digital competences that are necessary in remote working conditions during school education as well as in higher education. It is also important to undertake social activities to eliminate the social inequalities that limit access to remote working and that negatively affect the effectiveness of the remote working of women.

Wprowadzenie. Materiały i metody. W pracy wykorzystano metodę analizy oraz syntezy źródeł literaturowych. Wyniki. Pandemia COVID-19, pogłębiła niektóre istniejące już formy nierówności społecznych; wystąpiło zjawisko nierównego dostępu do pracy zdalnej. Analizy dotyczące jej efektywności ukazały wciąż funkcjonujący nierówny podział obowiązków domowych między kobietą i mężczyzną, wynikający z kultywowanego w wielu społeczeństwach patriarchalnego modelu rodziny i przypisywania kobietom „tradycyjnych” ról społecznych. Wnioski.
The article discusses the competences of students of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Lodz on the topic of safe usage of the Internet. The goal of the research was to recognise, analyse and measure the knowledge, skills and attitudes of students, within the safe consumption of content posted and faced on the Internet every day, as well as other facets related to challenges of cyberspace. Attention was also paid to the potential of competences related to information and digital skills which should not be lacking, especially (but not only) by students of the university. Therefore, the key values would be: continuous development of those skills, gaining knowledge and awareness of potential dangers. The following research methods were used to achieve set goals: critical analysis of the literature, the bibliographic method and the method of diagnostic survey. To understand the essence of the issue and to delve into the subject of online security, it was necessary to address definitions of “cyberspace”, “cybersecurity”, “digital competences” and “information literacy” as well as characterize selected threats to online security, which was done by review of literature. In the methodological part, the subject of the research, goals and research issues was pointed out, the principles of the sampling were defined and research methods, techniques and tools were described. The research part is an analysis of the results of the survey conducted on students of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Lodz. The survey was conducted on a group of students and is now able to determine the difficult that would arise from using the Internet, in addition students of the Faculty of Philology were experiencing most frequently what threats they were most afraid to encounter and how students protect their privacy, resources and image on the Internet, from what sources they learn about cybersecurity and how they asses their own competences in this area. The analysis shows that most of the respondents have basic knowledge necessary for responsible usage of Internet resources, as well as abilities to use tools that enable better protection in digital space. However, further research in this direction is recommended.

W części o charakterze metodologicznym wskazano przedmiot badań, cele i problemy badawcze, określono zasady doboru próby oraz opisano metody, techniki i narzędzia badawcze.
