Artykuł podejmuje problematykę działań komunikacyjnych, inicjo- wanych w instytucjach pomocy i integracji społecznej w kontekście kształcenia kompetencji komunikacyjnych i medialnych pracowników socjalnych. Zaprezentowane zostały aktualne opinie pracowników na temat działań komunikacyjnych w publicznych instytucjach pomocowych na podstawie ogólnopolskiego badania; ich wyniki potwierdzają tezę o deficycie systematycznych i konstruktywnych działań PR oraz niskich ocenach ich efektywności. W tym kontekście zarysowana została problematyka zmian w systemie kształcenia pracowników socjalnych. Wskazano na istotną rolę modułów i kursów związanych z komunikacją społeczną, kształtowa- niem kompetencji komunikacyjnych i medialnych, a także na istotne i dalekosiężne konsekwencje ich deficytu, który może przekładać się na niską ocenę efektywności działań́ pomocowych.

The paper presents the problem of communication actions taken in assistance and social integration institutions in the context of shaping communication and media competencies of social workers. Employees’ current estimations about communication actions in public assistance institutions, on the grounds of Polish nationwide research were presented. Findings of the study confirm thesis about deficit of systematic and constructive actions of PR and low estimation of their effectiveness. In this context, problematic aspects of changes in social workers’ education system were presented. Significant role of modules and courses related with social communication, shaping communication and media competences and also substantial, far-reaching consequences of their deficit, which may translate into low estimate of effectiveness of assistance activities, were pointed out.
