Die im vorliegenden Text präsentierte Analyse betrifft die Konzepte, die die Basisdomänen konstituieren, wie Zeit, Raum, Temperatur, Farbe oder Geschmack. Gegenstand der Analyse bilden Konzeptualisierungen, die im Prozesse der Verarbeitung der erwähnten Konzepte entstehen können und zwar im Kontext der Domänen selbst, als auch der Ausdrücke, deren Bestandteil diese Konzepte bilden. Das Ziel ist die Antwort auf die Frage, ob alle analysierten Domänen in ihrer Natur homogen sind, oder ob zwischen ihnen prozessuale Unterschiede bestehen, und wenn ja, dann welche.

The analysis presented in this paper pertains to concepts constituting basic domains, such as time, space, temperature, colour or taste. The subject of analysis are conceptualizations which can arise during the processing of the afore mentioned concepts in the context of the domains themselves as well as of the expressions in which the concepts are contained. The aim of the analysis is to answer the question as to whether all the analyzed domains are of homogenous nature or maybe there exist some processual differences between them, and if so, what they are.

Analiza prezentowana w niniejszym tekście dotyczy konceptów, które konstytuują domeny podstawowe, takie jak czas, przestrzeń, temperatura, kolor czy smak. Przedmiotem analizy są konceptualizacje, jakie powstawać mogą podczas przetwarzania w/w konceptów w kontekście samych domen, jak i wyrażeń, w skład których one (koncepty) wchodzą. Celem jest uzyskanie odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy wszystkie analizowane domeny są homogeniczne w swojej naturze, czy też istnieją między nimi różnice procesowe, a jeśli tak, to jakie.

Der Text versteht sich als ein Beitrag zur Diskussion über den Charakter von Sprache und Denken. Von der Annahme über seinen allgemein metaphorischen Charakter ausgehend, soll auf eine Schnittstelle zwischen der allgemeinen Dimension des Begriffssystems und der individuellen Dimension der Konzeptualisierungen einzelner Menschen verwiesen werden. Die gegenseitigen Wechselbeziehungen beider Dimensionen werden an ausgewählten Beispielen illustriert.

The paper is a contribution to the discussion about the nature of language and thinking. Taking the assumption about its universal metaphorical nature as a starting point, we want to draw the attention to an interface of the system of concepts’ universal dimension and the individual dimension of the conceptualizations of particular people. The interrelationship between the two dimensions is presented with the use of selected examples.

Artykuł stanowi przyczynek do dyskusji o charakterze myślenia i języka. Wychodząc z założenia o generalnie metaforycznym charakterze tych procesów zwraca się uwagę na mechanizmy zachodzące na styku ogólnego pojmowania systemu pojęciowego i indywidualnych konceptualizacji poszczególnych ludzi. Ilustracji wzajemnego oddziaływania mechanizmów ścierających się na styku obu płaszczyzn służą analizowane przykłady.

Tekst przedstawia założenia teoretyczne nowej subdyscypliny językoznawczej, nazwanej mediolingwistyką, która zajmowałaby się badaniem wszelkich zdarzeń językowych motywowanych medialnie, tzn. konstrukcji werbalnych (mówionych, pisanych lub form hybrydycznych) istniejących w poszczególnych mediach, zwłaszcza audiowizualnych. Mediolingwistyka łączy paradygmaty medioznawstwa i poststrukturalnego językoznawstwa, otwartego na relacje zewnętrzne, pozasystemowe. Głównymi filarami teoretycznymi dla mediolingwistyki (prócz wiedzy o mediach i współczesnej kulturze) byłyby: kognitywizm (media bowiem w ujęciu tym traktuje się jako «maszyny tekstotwórcze», ważny element konceptualizacji rzeczywistości), krytyczna analiza dyskursu oraz socjolingwistyka połączona z pragmalingwistyką. Istotą mediolingwistyki są także interdyscyplinarność i polimetodologizm.

The text presents the theoretical basis of a new linguistic subdiscipline called media linguistics which would discuss all language phenomena prompted by media, i.e all verbal constructions (written, spoken or hybrid forms) existing in certain media, especially audiovisual ones. Media linguistics combines paradigms of media studies and post-structural linguistics, open to external relations. The main theoretical bases for media linguistics (apart from media and contemporary culture studies) would be: cognitivism (in this approach media are seen as “text-making machines”, an important element of conceptualization of reality), a critical analysis of the discourse and sociolinguistics combined with pragmalinguistics. The core of media linguistics are also interdisciplinarity and polymethodologism.

Der vorliegende Beitrag stellt eine kognitive Analyse ausgewählter Auffassungen von ‚Glück‘ im Hinblick auf die in ihnen enthaltenen möglichen Konzeptualisierungen dar, mit dem Ziel, eine Domänenmatrix für das Bedeutungsspektrum um den Ausdruck ‚Glück‘ zu bestimmen. Die Analyse erfasst ausgewählte wissenschaftliche Definitionen und alltägliche Vorstellungen. Infolge der Analyse werden die Konzeptualisierungen untersucht, ihr Allgemeinheitsgrad verglichen, die Domänen ausgesondert und ihre Zentriertheit bestimmt.

The paper presents a cognitive analysis of selected understandings of luck with the focus on possible conceptualizations contained in these understandings. The aim is to establish a matrix of domains for the meaning spectrum of the lexical item ,luck’. The analysis encompasses selected scientific definitions and every-day ideas gathered from a group of people surveyed on the topic. In the course of the analysis the conceptualizations were examined, compared with respect to the level of their generality, whereupon the domains were established and assessed concerning their centrality.

Niniejszy tekst przedstawia kognitywną analizę wybranych ujęć szczęścia pod kątem zawartych w nich możliwych konceptualizacji w celu ustalenia matrycy domen dla spektrum znaczeniowego wyrażenia ,szczęście’. Analiza obejmuje wybrane definicje naukowe i wyobrażenia codzienne zebrane od grupy testowanych osób. Polega ona na zbadaniu konceptualizacji, porównaniu stopnia ich ogólności, wydzieleniu domen i stwierdzeniu ich centrowości.

The aim of the paper is an examination of the cognitive mechanisms responsible for the profiling of language expressions on the example of the processing of colour terms in G erman and Polish. Taking the assumption that language is conceptualization as a starting point, we focus on processuality as one of the key characteristics of concepts and conceptualizations. The relation between language and meaning as well as individuality and subjectivity of language processing mechanisms are also of interest.

Celem artykułu jest pokazanie kognitywnych mechanizmów odpowiedzialnych za profilowanie znaczeń wyrażeń na przykładzie przetwarzania nazw barw w języku niemieckim i polskim. Wychodząc z kognitywnego ujęcia języka jako konceptualizacji w oparciu o zebrany materiał empiryczny wskazano na procesowość jako istotną cechę konceptów i konceptualizacji, języka i znaczeń oraz podkreślono indywidualność i subiektywność procesów przetwarzania języka.

Der vorliegende Beitrag hat zum Ziel, die kognitiven Mechanismen, die der Profilierung von Ausdrücken zugrunde liegen, am Beispiel der Verarbeitung von Farbenbezeichnungen im Deutschen und Polnischen zu beleuchten. Von der kognitiven Auffassung der Sprache als Konzeptualisierung19 ausgehend, wird auf die Prozessualität als eines der wesentlichen Merkmale von Konzepten und Konzeptualisierungen sowie Sprache und Bedeutung fokussiert und auf die Individualiät und Subjektivität der Sprachverarbeitungsprozesse eingegangen.
