Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczno-empiryczny. W części teoretycznej zawarte są odniesienia do dwóch okresów życia człowieka: funkcjonowania młodych dorosłych i seniorów oraz ich wzajemnych relacji, a także informacje na temat kondycji współczesnego czytelnictwa. W części badawczej znajduje się omówienie wyników badań, dotyczące roli, jaką może odgrywać książka we wspólnych doświadczeniach międzypokoleniowych, jako temat potencjalnych rozmów i pretekst do spotkań.

The content of this article is both theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part contains references to two periods of human life: the functioning of young adults and seniors; and their mutual relations. The condition of book readership is discussed. The intergenerational relations are analyzed around present-day readership. The scientific element contains a discussion about the research results regarding the role that a book may play in present intergenerational experiences – as a subject of potential conversations and a pretext for meetings.

The aim of this study is taking notice of a meaning which is currently attributed by young people to socialising and pedagogical influence of their grandparents. The main area of consideration is the family as a location of intergenerational transmission of values and intergenerational contacts. In order to show a particular type of cultural code transferred in the family environment, the author brings extracts of student narration, takes notice of a fact that issues of intergenerational relations grandparents – grandchildren settled on borderland of numerous disciplines, is an object of interest for intercultural education.

Celem opracowania jest zwrócenie uwagi na znaczenie, jakie aktualnie młodzi ludzie przypisują oddziaływaniom socjalizacyjno-wychowawczym dziadków. Głównym obszarem rozważań staje się rodzina jako miejsce międzypokoleniowej transmisji wartości oraz międzypokoleniowych kontaktów. W celu ukazania szczególnego rodzaju kodu kulturowego przekazywanego w środowisku rodzinnym autorka przywołuje fragmenty narracji studentów, zwraca uwagę na fakt, że problematyka stosunków międzypokoleniowych dziadkowie–wnuki, osadzona na pograniczu wielu dyscyplin, jest także przedmiotem zainteresowań edukacji międzykulturowej.

The aim of this research paper is paying attention to the meaning which young people currently attribute to the socializational and educational influence of grandparents. The main area of the dissertation becomes a family as a place of intergenerational contacts. In order to present special type of intergenerational 193K. Jas Rodzina JaKo mieJsce KontaKtów międzypokoleniowych relations the author refers to the results of group research conducted in Cieszyn district. The family environment constitutes the most crucial space in which a human being lives, participating in its survival, maintaining its continuity and development. After Robert Merton the author defines a family as the most important transmitting stream used for passing cultural patterns down to the next generations.

Celem tego opracowania jest zwrócenie uwagi na znaczenie, jakie aktualnie przypisują młodzi ludzie oddziaływaniom socjalizacyjno-wychowawczym dziadków. Głównym obszarem rozważań staje się rodzina jako miejsce międzypokoleniowych kontaktów. W celu ukazania szczególnego rodzaju relacji międzygeneracyjnych autorka odwołuje się do wyników badań zespołowych przeprowadzonych na pograniczu polsko-czeskim. Środowisko rodzinne stanowi najważniejszą przestrzeń, w której żyje człowiek, uczestnicząc w jej przetrwaniu, zachowaniu ciągłości i rozwoju. Za Robertem Mertonem autorka przyjmuje rozumienie rodziny jako najważniejszego pasma transmisyjnego, służącego przekazywaniu wzorców kulturowych następnemu pokoleniu.
