Na przestrzeni ostatnich lat wzrosło zainteresowanie kryptowalutami zarówno w Polsce jak i na świecie. Ponadto temat kryptowalut stał się tematem modnym i kontrowersyjnym jednocześnie. Dla społeczeństwa bitcoin to innowacyjność, która może zmienić przyszłość finansów oraz stać się okazją do osiągania zysku dzięki zmienności aktywów. Założeniem opracowania jest przybliżenie pojęcia kryptowaluty w kontekście historycznym i funkcjonalnym. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest określenie istoty i zasad funkcjonowania kryptowaluty bitcoin wraz ze wskazaniem jej wad i zalet oraz czynników ryzyka.

In recent years, interest in cryptocurrencies has increased in Poland and in the world. In addition, the topic of cryptocurrencies is a frequently discussed topic. For society, bitcoin is an innovation that can change the future of finance and an opportunity to profit from volatile assets. The issue of the work was to approximate the concept of cryptocurrency and what are the risks of investing in this currency. The purpose of this work was to develop guidelines on how to safely invest in cryptocurrencies. Summarizing the above considerations, it should be stated that Bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency among the surveyed Poles. However, the level of risk awareness among respondents varies. Beginner investors declared a high risk in investing in cryptocurrencies. Among occasional investors, more than half of the respondents indicated investing in Bitcoin as high risk.
