The fall of communism has opened new possibilities of pastoral work for the Church; among them the restoration of teaching religion at school should be mentioned. However, it turns out that this situation - because of dynamic civilization changes - is becoming a great challenge for the Church. Religious education at school meets ever less support in the family affected by a crisis. The crisis - leaving its imprint on a child’s religious education - is manifested mainly in a degeneration of the transfer of faith in the family, that is projected on education, as well as in economic problems of families, and in individualization of life. To meet these difficulties and to make religious education fruitful the Church has to make efforts to restore the proper rank to the pedagogical triad that is expressed in a cooperation of the Church, the school and the family.

Upadek komunizmu otwarł przed Kościołem w Polsce nowe możliwości pracy duszpasterskiej, wśród których trzeba wymienić także przywrócenie nauczania religii w szkole. Jak się jednak okazuje sytuacja ta - ze względu na dynamiczne zmiany cywilizacyjne - staje się dla Kościoła dużym wyzwaniem. Wychowanie religijne w szkole znajduje coraz mniej wsparcia w dotkniętej kryzysem rodzinie. Kryzys ten - wyciskający piętno na wychowaniu religijnym dziecka - przejawia się głównie w zaniku przekazu wiary w rodzinie, rzutujących na wychowanie trudnościach ekonomicznych rodzin oraz indywidualizacji życia. Aby sprostać tym nowym wyzwaniom i aby wychowywanie religijne stało się owocne, Kościół musi podjąć starania o przywrócenie należytej rangi triadzie pedagogicznej wyrażającej się we współpracy Kościoła, szkoły i rodziny.
