Autor ten wywarł duży wpływ na wielu mistyków i świętych, a jego medytacje na temat bramy wprowadzającej do kontemplacji Serca Syna Bożego, bazujące zwłaszcza na tekstach biblijnych i patrystycznych, do dzisiaj stanowią ważny wkład w duchowość Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego.

The theology of the pierced side of Jesus Christ is one of the most important elements of the spirituality of the Divine Heart. The aim of the article is to show monastic inspirations in the interpretation of the biblical description of the piercing of the side of the Saviour using the example of Vita Jesu Christi by Ludolf from Saxony. This author had a great influence on many mystics and saints, and his meditations on the gate leading to the contemplation of the Heart of the Son of God, based especially on biblical and patristic texts, are an important contribution to the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to this day.

Każdy kult chrześcijański posiada wymiar liturgiczny i egzystencjalny. Kult Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego także znacząco wpływa na postępowanie moralne człowieka. Oddawanie czci Bożemu Sercu prowadzi do poznania i naśladowania postawy moralnej Jezusa Chrystusa. Do najbardziej charakterystycznych elementów tej postawy należą: poświęcenie się i wynagrodzenie Sercu Jezusa oraz kontemplacyjna adoracja. Naśladując Jezusa Chrystusa, człowiek odnajduje w Nim nie tylko ideał i wzór cnót teologalnych i moralnych, ale też źródło i zachętę do ich realizacji.

Every Christian cult has liturgical and existential dimension. Cult of the Sacred Heart of Jesus significantly affects one’s moral conduct. Honoring Sacred Heart leads to knowing and following the moral attitude of Jesus Christ. Among the most characteristic elements of such attitude are for example self-sacrifice and reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and contemplative adoration. Following Jesus Christ human being finds in Him not only the ideal and model of theological and moral virtues but also source and encouragement to its fulfillment.

Sięganie do źródeł i korzeni duchowości własnego instytutu zakonnego to zadanie i misja każdego zgromadzenia. Ten sposób działania jest jedną z dróg aktualizowania charyzmatu założyciela we współczesnym świecie. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie osoby o. Leona Jana Dehona, założyciela Zgromadzenia Księży Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego jako człowieka, który miał otwarte serce i umysł wobec Boga i wyzwań, z jakimi borykał się Kościół i świat we Francji na przełomie XIX i XX wieku. Szybki rozwój przemysłowy oraz nowe ruchy społeczno-polityczne doprowadziły do zmiany ustroju społecznego w Europie. Wyłoniona w wyniku transformacji ustrojowej najliczniejsza klasa robotnicza znalazła się w trudnej sytuacji bytowej. Jednym z pionierów, który zajął się tzw. „kwestią społeczną”, był o. Leon Jan Dehon. Od początku swojej działalności duszpasterskiej oddał się w pełni pracy na rzecz najuboższych, formacji elit, podnoszeniu świadomości kleru w kwestiach społecznych oraz pójściu z Ewangelią do ludu. Jego działanie oparte na Tradycji Kościoła oraz nowe metody duszpasterskie przyniosły mu szybko uznanie oraz tytuł „pioniera dzieł społecznych”.

To reach the roots of one’s monastic order’s spirituality is believed to be a task and a mission of each congregation. One considers such an activity as one of the ways of keeping the founder’s mission up-to-date in the modern world. This article aims at showing Fr. Leon Jan Dehon, the founder of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as a broad-minded man with an open heart to both God and challenges faced by the Church and France on the turn of the 19th century. Rapid industrial development and new social and political movements led to the change of social system in Europe. Not only was the newly created working class most numerous but also in hopeless plight. One of those who devoted themselves to the ministry of social justice was Fr. Leon Jan Dehon. Since the very beginning he had become fully involved in social work among the poor, work with the elite, rising awareness of the clergy in the social matters as well as acquainting the working classes with the Gospel. His activity based on the Tradition of the Church together with the new priestly methods soon brought him esteem and being called „the progenitor of social works”.

Wpływa ona nie tylko na rozumienie charyzmatu Instytutu, ale ma także istotne znaczenie dla apostolstwa. Głównym celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na ten charakterystyczny rys charyzmatu ujęty w aktualnej Regule życia. Rzutuje on bowiem na przeżywanie własnej duchowości przez współczesnych sercanów, jak też ukierunkowuje ich formację.

Oblation is one of the key terms of the spirituality of the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus founded by the venerable Servant of God, Father Leon Dehon. It influences not only the understanding of the charism of the Institute but is also essential for the apostolate. The main aim of the article is to draw attention to this characteristic feature of the charism included in the current Rule of Life. It influences the experience of their own spirituality by contemporary Dehonians, as well as directs their formation.
