The article outlines the cultural models of femininity and masculinity in textbooks for teaching foreign languages. The author makes use of Polish and French textbooks. Polish textbooks models are presented from a traditional perspective, whereas in the French a modern approach is favoured. The authors of the French textbooks advocate for gender equivalence. In this way, the authors account for the societal changes in today's France.
