The paper is an attempt at a cognitive analysis and description of biblical images of the human being, deeply rooted in the religious system of values, such as the covenant with God, redemption or sanctity, found in various morphemes, lexemes and other expressions of the biblical Hebrew language. The analysis of the Hebrew lexemes used to define the man and the woman, helpful in the reconstruction of the informal ways of thinking of the human being, observed in the Semitic culture, is expected to present a biblical picture of the human being as a living creature (neºpeš), revealing itself in BäSär (a physical component) as well as rûªH (a spiritual component), a creature functioning among other creatures, belonging to their world, but also occupying a particular place in it.

The aim of the author is an attempt to show metaphoric ways of presenting God and the relations God-man in Polish proverbs. The analysis of the research material shows that figurative images of God are strictly related to everyday life and daily occupations of an average user of Polish, especially trade, craft, construction, medicine, finances, education. It is not odd that these branches of life, generally acknowledged and respected, have become a basis for depictions of God as the highest value. It is also vital that metaphorical images of God and His relations to man are identical with the Christian idea of the Creator. What is more, almost all the metaphors of God present in the research material have their equivalents in the quotations from the Scriptures. Thus, we observe both the influence of the Bible on common images of the nature of God and the impact of the original (dating back to the times when the Bible was coming into existence), ‘naïve’ and commmon-sense vision of the world on biblical images of the Creator.

In the article, the author discusses the relationship that refers to people and illness that is recorded in various language data. Based on folk material, the author recalls, above all, folk magic formulas, called “orders”. The magical healing ritual is perceived as a whole, in which the word accompanies certain activities taking place at a given time and place, using specific attributes. In a very specific existential situation, which is illness, the most basic mechanisms of thinking about the reality are revealed. Hence, the healing ritual reveals perceptions and judgements referring to illness, based on one’s own body experiences. These judgements can be observed through specific materialization obtained through the language/text manifested in a specific executive situation. The analysis of linguistic/text data allows one to discover the significance of performed actions in the process of magical healing, as these actions complement the word. They are also strongly associated with beliefs about illness in general and they constitute a characteristic testimony of human struggle with illness

W artykule omawiam utrwaloną w różnorodnych danych językowych relację, która dotyczy człowieka i choroby. Bazuję na materiale folklorowym, przywołuję przede wszystkim ludowe formuły magiczne, zwane zamówieniami. Magiczny rytuał leczniczy postrzegam jako całość, w której słowo współtowarzyszy określonym czynnościom, odbywającym się w wyznaczonym czasie, w wyznaczonym miejscu, przy zastosowaniu określonych atrybutów. W bardzo specyficznej sytuacji egzystencjalnej, jaką jest choroba, ujawniają się najbardziej elementarne mechanizmy myślenia o rzeczywistości, stąd też rytuał leczniczy ukazuje oparte na własnym doświadczaniu ciała wyobrażenia i sądy dotyczące choroby. Sądy te można obserwować dzięki swoistej materializacji, jaką uzyskują za pośrednictwem języka/tekstu objawiającego się w konkretnej sytuacji wykonawczej. Analiza danych językowych/tekstowych pozwala na odkrycie właściwego sensu czynności wykonywanych w procesie magicznego uzdrawiania; działania te stanowią dopełnienie słowa, są też silnie powiązane z wierzeniami na temat choroby w ogóle i stanowią charakterystyczne świadectwo walki człowieka z chorobą

In order to describe in detail the differences between the discourse of a textbook and the discourse of children I used categories – applied in the area of cognitive considerations – concerning the language image of the world and the text image of the world, as well as selected sub-categories: the point of view and perspective, type of rationality, method of categorizing, stereotypical and axiological overview of the reality. I assumed that the choice of categories and subcategories will not only allow to investigate the imposed meanings of the textbook discourse, but – above all – will make it possible to notice the very process of formation, the emergence of the image of the world from the perspective of children. The adopted analysis model launches reflection on the necessary changes, exposes the oppressiveness of the language of the textbook and encourages exploring the conditions to initiate the language of children.

Aby szczegółowo opisać różnice w dyskursie podręcznikowym i dziecięcym, posłużyłam się, stosowanymi na gruncie dociekań kognitywistycznych kategoriami językowego obrazu świata i tekstowego obrazu świata oraz wybranymi podkategoriami: punktu widzenia i perspektywy, typu racjonalności, sposobu kategoryzowania, stereotypowego i aksjologicznego oglądu rzeczywistości. Założyłam, że wybór kategorii i podkategorii nie tylko umożliwi zbadanie narzuconych znaczeń dyskursu podręcznikowego, ale przede wszystkim pozwoli dostrzec sam proces powstawania, wyłaniania się obrazu świata z perspektywy dzieci. Przyjęty model analizy uruchamia refleksję o koniecznych zmianach, demaskuje opresywność języka podręcznikowego, a także zachęca do poszukiwania warunków do inicjowania wypowiedzi dzieci.
