In this paper, I will report qualitative research findings on how undergraduate students at a small-sized university in Thailand perceive Facebook group usage in a writing class. The findings suggest that the Facebook group can be used as blended learning (a hybrid instructional model) and learning management system (posting announcements and comments relevant to the class and their writing assignments) for the students to learn with, not to learn from, as facilitated by the instructor. The reasons were that they positively viewed the Facebook group usage as a practical, trendy and beneficial teaching tool, which helped to motivate them to learn English virtually and enhance their positive attitudes towards learning the language. When they encounter virtual communication apprehension, the Facebook group usage appeared to be a booster neutralizing their positive attitudes towards virtual interactions. Such positive results may derive from the fact that the students grew up as digital natives and the Millennial Generation using Facebook, the prominent social network site, as parts of their daily life. Teachers of English, who may be seen as digital immigrants or digital immigrant accent, may need to consider use of learning technologies in their writing class.

The modern process of informatization of education is the basis for the introduction of information and communication technologies (ІCT) in the learning process, where cloud technologies become the most popular, which takes place in different types of learning activities. These technologies are actively used to transfer information and to provide teacher-student cooperation in modern systems of open and distance education. One means of ICT is a learning management system (LMS). One of the promising ways of using LMS of higher education is a cloud-oriented organization access to the software. So, in these circumstances, the relevance of this problem has led to the choice of research topic summary: clouds oriented learning management system canvas. Currently in the global information space, there are many LMS with clouses source (Blackboard, Coursera, EdX, Desire2Learn, Udacity), where universities can have access to them only after the conclusion of the relevant agreement on collaboration and with open source (Canvas Instructure, Udemy, Moodle, OpenLearning), where Lecturers are free to post their courses. Therefore, the article is devoted to the learning management system Canvas of the company Instructure with open source placed in the «cloud». LMS consists of the following services: management learning activity; management of learning content; content delivery; navigation control on content; testing and evaluation of educational achievements of students; accounting activities and results of the student; keeping the Profiles of Student and Lecturer. To use the LMS Canvas in professional activities the teacher must have a computer connected to the Internet browser, the account in Canvas and skills with the Internet and Web applications. It should also be noted that in the article there are different reviews of the US Lecturers where they convince that this system has a lot of possibilities and is interactive, comfortable, dynamic and designed for the needs of higher education. Particular attention is paid on instruments that make up the Canvas: Canvas Higher Ed, Canvas К-12, Canvas Network, Bridge.

The issue of regulation of a learning management system (LMS) at the state level of Ukraine is considered in the article. Types and interpretations of electronic educational resources that can be used in distance education are pointed out. The Moodle environment, as an example of one of successful learning management systems, is considered. In particular, the article contains a list of roles that can be shared by users of a learning management system. The general structure of an e-learning course, which can be used by educational institutions, is also proposed.

Education today must adequately reflect the needs of the society and be available throughout life, with an equal access for all people at all levels. The real step in solving these problems consists of creating an information and educational e-environment, using open learning, and providing an open access to educational resources. Organisation and management of the educational process, proper development of IT infrastructure, learning management system, and preparing and creating educational content are still necessary to ensure the quality of the educational information environment. Therefore, there is a need for training that could resolve expressed tasks to organise the educational process to a modern level using an information and educational e-environment available 24*7*365. For this purpose, in the system of e-learning of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, an electronic training course “Design and expertise of information and educational e-environment” (available online: http://e-learning.kubg.edu.ua/course/view.php?id=2741) was developed.
