W artykule zaprezentowano dotychczasowe badania nad pracą emocjonalną prowadzone za granicą oraz w Polsce. Omówiono pojęcie pracy emocjonalnej w kontekście pracy biblioteki akademickiej oraz wytyczne ALA dotyczące pożądanych zachowań pracowników służb informacyjnych.

The article presents the previous studies of emotional labour carried out in Poland and abroad. It explains the concept of emotional labour in the context of academic libraries and the ALA guidelines for behavioral performance of reference and information service providers.
