The article presents the activity of local self-government units in Poland. The purpose of this article is to present the functioning of territorial self-government units, which is based on a three-tiered division and which consists of a municipality, a county and a province. Each local government unit fulfills important roles, and its scope of action is very extensive and varied. Units of local self-government have statutory own tasks and orders that they must fulfill and from which they have to settle. Their main aim is to meet the needs and expectations of local and regional communities.
