Miejsce Polski w świecie systematycznie spada i w najbliższych dziesięcioleciach powinno spadać nadal, przynajmniej w rozumieniu podstawowych, ustalanych długoterminowo miar. Tylko częściowo tłumaczą to procesy zewnętrzne i powszechne, marginalizujące większość mniejszych państw. Ważniejsze i nawet kluczowe wydają się niematerialne czynniki wewnętrzne, pozornie łatwe do poprawy, a mimo to zadziwiająco stabilne: niedostatek refleksji nad procesami historycznymi, nieświadomość stanu państwa oraz brak lub infantylizm wizji jego rozwoju.

Poland's place in the world continuously falls and in the coming decades should continue to fall, at least if judged by basic, long-term measures. This can only partly be explained by external processes and common marginalization of the smaller states. More important and even crucial seem to be intangible internal factors, seemingly easy to improve, yet surprisingly stable, which are: paucity of reflection on the historical processes, lack of awareness of the state of Poland and the absence or infantilism of its development vision.
